1 Ashraf ElSwify Mr. Ashraf ElSwify has over 20 years of experience in community service in Islamic institutions in US. I have been part of growing Muslim communities across US, from South Florida, to Bay area, California to this wonderfull place of Seattle area. I enjoy serving muslims from diverse backgrounds and see them united under one cause, the pleasing of ALLAH, the almighty. Contribution at MAPS: I have been passionate about MAPS since its inception and passionate about serving our community at large and youth in particular. I participated whether directly or indirectly in educational and sports events dedicated to serve our youth. I consider MAPS to be my home, and consider every member in the community to be a brother and sister. Future vision and proposed service for MAPS : My vision is to continue MAPS vision along being more encompassing, attracting and serving all muslims in the community. I would work to encourage diverse and brotherly atmosphere among community members. I would encourage programs that focus on our Youth, and building a strong next generation of the community I would work to leverage and encourage the participation of wider based of our community members. I would encourage practices of communication, openness, transparency and seeking improvement through constant feedback process. I would encourage and promote effective use of the resources available and find creative ways to improve that efficiency across our facilities and operations. Educational and professional background: I am a Nuclear Engineer by education and participated in the design of a couple of Nuclear Reactors early on in my career, about some 20 years ago. I have since switched focus to

2 software engineering. Worked for a variety of companies including Intuit, Microsoft and Monsanto. I enjoy playing soccer and coaching our Youth soccer teams for a few years now. Mahmood Khadeer Contribution at MAPS: Mahmood Khadeer is the current President of MAPS. He has over 20 years of experience in community service in Islamic institutions in US. He is the current President of MAPS. He was one of the founders of MAPS. He served in various capacities in MAPS from its inception including the position of Vice President, member of Board of Trustees and the Project Manager who managed the complete construction project for current MAPS facility. He was also President of Medina Academy, an Islamic school in east side. Prior to moving to Seattle, he was secretary of Huntsville Islamic Center and help raise funds to build the new Masjid in Huntsville, Alabama. In his professional life, he has over 28 years of experience in software industry in various roles. In his 16 years service at Microsoft, he held various positions in Microsoft from engineering director, customer support and business management. Currently he is a senior director in Microsoft mergers and acquisitions, managing the customer support vertical. He is married with 3 children Muneeb Khadeer, Mahin Khadeer and Samreen Khadeer. He is blessed with a granddaughter Nurah Khadeer. His wife Salma Khadeer is a Pre-K teacher in Medina Academy. He holds a BS in Engineering from NIT, Warangal, India and MBA from University of Washington and MS in Cyber security from UW, Bothell. Future vision and proposed service for MAPS: My vision for MAPS since founding it is to: To inspire and foster a community that impacts the quality of life and spirituality for the individual, family and society guided by teachings of Quran and Sunnah. We are on our journey in fulfilling this vision under the pillars of Faith, Inbound good, Outbound good and Model Citizen with unwavering support from our community. This will

3 be my last term as President of MAPS and my focus will be to ensure we have a solid transition plan so we can continue to build on the great foundation that MAPS has laid out. My guidance to the community will be to choose people to be in the board who are aligned with the vision of MAPS and can dedicate time and effort consistently to selflessly serve our community. Mohammad Nasir Vakil Over the course of last 20 years, Br. Mohammad Vakil has been involved with multiple Islamic organizations in Texas and Washington. At MAPS, he has served in multiple capacities, including MAPS Secretary General in in the first board, Religious Affairs Secretary from 2011 to 2015, and Vice President from 2015 until now. Future vision and proposed service for MAPS: Allah swt has blessed MAPS and the community immensely where we ve been able to achieve lot as an organization, facilities, impactful programs and activities, and more importantly our engagement with the communities around us. In order to continue this trajectory in a positive direction, I d like to see us focus on the following pillars: 1. Our community and its needs are growing, and in order to fulfill this demand in a sustainable fashion, we ve to invest in scaling our infrastructure and facilities, our offerings and programs, and our services catering to everyone s needs 2. Be open and willing to try new ideas according to the needs of changing times, demographics of people we serve, and social/political dynamics. Based on divine

4 guidance and framework, our religion affords us many avenues to try, learn, and improve our affairs instead of maintaining status quo. 3. Build a legacy by being part of the solution our local society faces and help propel MAPS and its members, especially youths, into the future of 21 st century America. We ve to strengthen our platform, where people are empowered to address every facet of our interaction with the local community at large. Educational and professional background: Mohammad has a Bachelor s degree in Computer Engineering from KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and a Master s degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. He has been employed at Microsoft for the last 10 years as a Program Manager. Riad Chummun Riad has been the Treasurer of MAPS for the past 3 years. During that time, by the grace of Allah SWT and with the help of many in the community, we have stabilized the financial state of the organization, grown the donor base, paid off the construction loan and financed many programs and projects supporting MAPS vision and the vision s cornerstones of Faith, Outbound Good, Inbound Good and Model Citizen. A few examples of programs and projects we financed include - [Faith]: we dedicated budget to fly in national speakers and khateebs, to host engaging Seerah conferences, festive Eids, Iftar every night and Suhoor in the last ten days of Ramadan. We hired two Qur an teachers and added classes. In the past year, we have distributed Sadaqah to over 1000 families and paid the expenses for dozens of funerals.

5 [Outbound Good]: we accelerated MAPS-MCRC activities by financing the Health Clinic, setting up a refugee resettlement program and sponsoring various charitable activities. We sponsored highway clean up and a section of Marymoor park. [Inbound Good]: the recent two programs, Reflections on Bosnia and Conquering K2, are good examples of how we have dedicated time and money to host programs that allow us to improve ourselves, expand our own knowledge and grow our intellectual curiosity. [Model Citizen]: we have taken a number of steps and dedicated budget to build an identity that is proudly Muslim and proudly American. We have hosted programs and guests and show concern for matters local to our area and our state. [Facilities]: we continue to dedicate budget to keep our facilities clean, safe and welcoming to all while adding new functions, such as the library and play area. We have established a very good foundation for our community in this part of the country. In the next two years, if elected, I will Insha-Allah build on this foundation and further our vision to inspire and foster a community that impacts the quality of life and spirituality for the individual, family and society guided by teachings of Quran and Sunnah. Riad lives with his wife Hafsa Azaz and three children, Musab, Muadh and Minhah, not too far from MAPS. He is a Director of Patent Sales & Licensing at Intellectual Ventures, a Private Equity fund based in Bellevue that invests in and monetizes intellectual property. He holds a Bachelor degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master degree from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
