He is the second oldest of 2 brothers and 2 sisters. In March 1968, at the age of 14 he relocated to London with his Mother, brother and sisters to join his father who was already residing in London. The family settled in Islington where Navin attended secondary school at Acland Burghley. This family home played a key part to many of our community members by offering them a place to stay during their relocation to the U.K. From his schooling days Navin had a keen interest in business and entrepreneurism. In 1972, at the tender age of 19, he with his father and elder brother Jayantilal established J&N Fashions which manufactured women's fashions for major High Street brands. In 1974 he met and married Hansa, daughter of Mr Dayabhai Motiram Khatri and Mrs Kashiben Khatri. They were married in London where Hansa also joined the family business. J&N Fashions operated for many years as a very successful business. Navin is blessed with 6 children, 5 daughters and a son. Over the years has taken much pride in fulfilling his duty as a proud father ensuring his children have all been educated at universities and established themselves. In 201 2, he retired to enjoy a peaceful life taking interest in news and current affairs at home and abroad along with traveling to new destinations. Navin enjoys nothing more than spending time with his entire family and also holidays abroad with them all, this includes 5 son in-laws, daughter inlaw and 6 grandchildren who adore their nana. 2 58th Mahotsav 2018 As we approach our Annual Mahotsav, the Executive Committee would like to remind members of the following: Mahotsav Venue The 58th Annual SKA Mahotsav will be held on Sunday 2nd September 2018 at the Watford Colosseum, Rickmansworth Rd, Watford WD17 3JN under the Honorary Presidency of Mr Navin Kantilal Parmer. Please Note that this year the Mahotsav will start at a later time of 13:30pm and the entertainment will finish around 7pm, then the bar will be open for you to purchase drinks. Thereafter a vegetarian buffet dinner will be served and soft drinks will be provided. The event will close at 10.00pm. If you wish to participate in the Mahotsav please book early to avoid disappointment. Contact Jyoti Hiteshkumar Tailor at events@skauk.org or by Sunday 19th August Please note there is no age limit for the participants so get ready for the shakes and moves. Please make sure you speak to Jyoti H Tailor personally so there are no misunderstandings, missed messages, etc. Please note there are no limitations on the number of participants for cultural or noncultural items, therefore solo performances will be allowed. EXCITING NEWS If you would like to participate in the Mohatsav but do not have a group, Anisha Tailor has kindly agreed, to not only help form groups but is also willing to help with the choreography! She will be holding a taster afternoon at the SKA Hall on Saturday 26th May from 2pm to 4pm for all those who are interested. So do not hesitate! Call Anisha on to book your place at the taster session! MOST IMPORTANTLY BE PART OF THE MAHOTSAV! Act details: Please phone or preferably with the following details: Full names of all participants, Type of act (film dance, raas, etc.), names of Song(s) and Film(s), Length of the act, Group leader's contact name, phone number and address. Please note this year all items whether they are religious, cultural, single or group items will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Watford Colosseum, Rickmansworth Road, Watford, WD17 3JN BY CAR The Watford Colosseum is easily reached by car and is sign-posted on all local routes into Watford. From the M1 and M25 follow signs for Watford Town Hall. PARKING Please make sure you leave plenty of time to park. There is no parking at Watford Colosseum, however parking is available at a number of locations within a short walk of the venue. Please take cash as not all machines take cards. Check latest car park details at: T he Gade Multi-Storey Car Park, located on Rosslyn Road, WD17 1NA is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. 6 All day rate (Sunday) The Avenue Car Park, located on Hempstead Road, WD17 4NR is open from 7am until midnight All day rate (Sunday) The Town Hall Car Park, located off Peace Prospect, WD17 3HA, is normally open to the public all day at weekends All day rate (Sunday) Songs: Remember that you will be asked to select another song if it has already been used by a previously notified act, even in a mixed song item. So inform Jyoti as early as possible of your act line-up. To prevent problems with participants not providing us with CDs in the correct format you must provide your music to Jyoti 2 week in advance, by latest Sunday 19th August. We will then ensure the music is in the correct format and avoid any problems on the day.

3 Act length: The committee will decide the timing of performances, so please do not ask for changes. For mixed songs items, a maximum of 6 minutes will be allowed unless agreed beforehand. If on the day any event exceeds 30 seconds beyond the given time is liable to be stopped. Please therefore ensure the correct time has been recorded for your performance. This is to ensure we finish the day's events on time. Open speech: The time allocated for the Open speech during the Mahotsav will be 5 minutes for everyone. No extra time will be allowed. To book your slot, please contact Ganesh D Khatri at secretary@skauk.org or by latest Sunday 19th August SKA Hall hire: To hire the Hall for practice ONLY contact: Anisha Hiteshkumar Tailor on Hall hire for practice will be offered on a first come first served basis. Costume Hire Subsidy: up to maximum of 15 per person, but only if a receipt is provided. Please note that the subsidy is not for purchased clothes, only for hired clothes. Students: The Kshatriya Association is always keen to honour those in our community who have excelled in their academic studies and non-academic achievements. Please the secretary Ganesh D Khatri at secretary@skauk.org AND THEN also confirm via phone on if you have achieved the necessary qualifications as set out below. - Academic: Educational Qualifications will be acknowledged for those students who have obtained Diplomas, Degrees or Professional Qualifications. A- Level students will also be acknowledged provided they obtain 240 or more UCAS points. - Music: Grade 6 and above - Sports: This category is difficult to define but we are looking to recognise individuals who have represented their County or higher over the past 12 months. However, we are prepared to look at each case on an individual basis. Those students who meet the above criteria will be honoured by receiving a plaque at the Mahotsav. Please note students will only be honoured if the Secretary has received written confirmation of their qualification by Sunday 19th August 2018 at the latest. 4 Obituary In loving memory of Bhaskar Dahyabhai Khatri who passed away on 28th January 2018 in London at the age of 66 years. He was husband to Minaxi Bhaskar Khatri and father of Hina Makwana and Pritesh Khatri. His son in law Litin Makwana, grandson Aaron Makwana and granddaughter Nikita Makwana His entire family would like to thank all family and friends for their support and condolences in our difficult time. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to their family and friends and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace. SKA would like to thank Late Bhaskar Khatri Family for their kind donation of In loving memory of Gsv Ramanben Gordhandas Khatri who passed away on 12th February 2018 in London at the age of 82 years. She was wife of the Late Dr Gordhandas Narandas Khatri and mother of Hemlata Jayant Parmar (USA), Anita Deven Ambasna and Sharmila Sokhi. Her entire family would like to thank everyone who paid their respects and sent messages of condolences. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to their family and friends and pray that her soul rests in eternal peace. 8 THE ROAD TO FIJI.IS ALMOST HERE! The clocks ticking and we are counting down the days to the Kshatriya World Cup. It has been a real achievement for the community as a whole to have a team from London that is going to Fiji to represent our Samaj. 18 months ago this was only a plan on paper, without a team. Now we are approximately 10 weeks away from when the tournament starts. We have a strong squad of 19 ready to take on the teams from the Oceanic region. It won't be easy, as the team is going into the unknown but it will be an experience for the team which they will treasure for years to come. The players and coaches commitment towards training has been excellent, even the beast from the east couldn't stop us from showing up to training in -10 degrees temperature. We really could do with some warm weather to acclimatize to Fiji. The football leadership team (Nilesh Patel, Mayur Hazratwala, Kiran Jadav, Nitesh Khatri) behind the scenes are working away to ensure everything is set in place before we fly out. We have a long gruelling 30 hour journey before we arrive in Fiji on Monday 25th June As many of you may have seen, we have created a Facebook page dedicated to the team.
