2 Fulfillment actions were derived from the Future Story of Ministry that was presented to the congregation on Pentecost Sunday 2016, and have been put into the following five categories: Worship, Discipleship, Missions, Prayer and Hospitality/Communications. In Philippians 4:6, we are called to pray in every situation, and so each of the elements of our mission (Love God, Love Others, Reach the World) should be surrounded by prayer. We also believe that how we welcome our guests (hospitality) and how we communicate with our members and our community is also paramount to the work we are called to do. Worship Discipleship Missions Each fulfillment action has listed what the action is, what needs to be done within the first 120 days, what needs to be done within the first 12+ months, what needs to be done within the first 36+ months, the resources that will be needed, and who will be accountable for that action. The fulfillment actions will be formatted as follows: Fulfillment Action Category (Worship, Discipleship, Missions, Prayer or Hospitality/Communication) Fulfillment Action - To live into our future story, these are the actions we need to take. These actions need to be taken as soon as possible. These are short-term actions that need to take place soon. These are actions that may require stages of action to fulfill. Estimate of needed finances, staff, volunteers, and other resources. Who should be held accountable for taking these actions? Page 2 of 11

3 Worship Fulfillment Action #1 Offer three worship services on Sunday morning, including: 8:00 Traditional Worship Sanctuary 9:30 Modern Worship Family Center The new service will combine the three current Modern Worship Services on Sunday morning, including 9:30 Modern Traditional in the Sanctuary, 9:30 Modern in the Warehouse, and 11:00 Student Worship in the Warehouse. Student small groups (Sunday School) will meet at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. 11:00 Traditional Worship Sanctuary Based on the Spiritual Strategic Journey Future Story, the revised worship schedule will provide: Traditional and Modern Service styles Unified services at non-competing times Multigenerational experiences A central location for enhanced fellowship opportunities and guest reception Wise stewardship of volunteer hours By matching the style of worship to the space in which it meets, promote excellence in worship Sunday morning children s small groups and Studio worship will continue to be offered Using all media, effectively Launch new Sunday morning Explore offering other worship and redundantly communicate schedule on January 8, 2017 opportunities (regular or the new Sunday morning Weekly evaluation of all episodic) at different times and worship schedule along with services by the Worship Team places. (Examples might its underlying rationale to the Complete any remaining include: Sunday evening entire congregation Renovate the Family Center renovation work in the Family Center worship, Wednesday night Communion, Campmeeting for the new 9:30 Modern Upgrade the Sanctuary worship, themed worship Worship Service (renovation work will extend beyond the initial 120 days) Design the 9:30 Modern Worship Service Recruit personnel for the 9:30 Modern Worship Service projector and screen services, GGC services, etc.) $75,000-$100,000 one-time expense for the renovation of Family Center, and also to upgrade the video equipment in the Sanctuary. 4 Worship Fulfillment Action #2 Plan regular, church-wide Celebration Services that bring the entire church family together in worship and fellowship. Identify combined worship Pair a Celebration Service with service opportunities that will a Mission Emphasis (possible recur on an annual basis examples: Church Outside the (possible examples: Sunday Walls, One Great Hour of after Christmas, Service, etc.) Campmeeting, God & Country Service, etc.) Create two new Celebration Service worship opportunities. Examples might include Senior Sunday, Confirmation Sunday, etc. Fall 2016 picnic with worship at the Campground 120 day SSJ celebration on Thanksgiving Sunday, November 20 $1,000 for fall picnic Other?? SSJ Lead Team: Fall Picnic Worship Team: Thanksgiving Sunday Mission Vision Team: Celebration Service with Mission Emphasis Worship Fulfillment Action #3 Define what it means to take our worship to a bold new level of excellence with a powerful shift toward unity and Christ-centered passion. Create a Lay/Staff Worship The Worship Task Force will Task Force to evaluate and continue to evaluate and improve worship services on a suggest improvements in regular basis (monthly, after worship each series, etc.), and encourage the Task Force to visit other churches to experience best practices in worship Invite an outside agent to visit and evaluate our current worship services. Then meet with the Worship Team and Worship Task Force to discuss recommended changes $500-$1,000 for an individual or group to evaluate the services during the next year Worship Task Force with assistance from the Worship Team Page 4 of 11

5 Discipleship Fulfillment Action #1 Develop, Equip, & Empower Lay Leadership. First 120 Days Create a Discipleship Lead Team of 6 passionate leaders Establish what it means to be a disciple Clarify vision with common language and expectations (rename small groups, and decide on name for mentors/apprentices) Within 12+ Months Communicate what it means to be a disciple and ongoing activities of each team through Playback (Director of Discipleship Newsletter) Within 36+ Months Clarify equipping and empowering strategies for all Small Groups Volunteer time and $500 for curriculum. Discipleship Lead Team with support from Director of Discipleship Discipleship Fulfillment Action #2 Establish a Journey of Discipleship: GPS (Grow. Proclaim. Serve.) Create our own customized Create GPS for all ages and Spiritual Growth Assessment Tool needs (young families, preteen Develop a Mentoring Ministry children, students, older adults (Alongsiders, Connectors, and persons with special Shepherds) to walk with needs), including which core individuals/families through GPS to studies to use/encourage help them: (Starting Point, Alpha, Disciple, o discover and use spiritual gifts Walk to Emmaus) o strengthen their spiritual Decide on Short Term Studies disciplines based on congregational needs o guide them in taking the next each semester (ongoing) step Begin offering a Spiritual Gifts class Create a GPS Team with three co-leaders from the Discipleship Lead Team, and recruit new members for this team $1,500 for two to three planning retreats for Discipleship Lead Team, GPS Team, and Small Group Team. 6 Discipleship Fulfillment Action #3 Develop, Expand and Support Small Groups. Train small group leaders by Ongoing evaluation of Small forming a small group using Group Team leadership curriculum with Initiate a Grab, Gather & Grow expectation for each one in the Event for anyone to start and group to form and lead a small try out a small group utilizing group at end of 8-week Sermon-Based curriculum session Create Community Small In conjunction with small group Groups (GGC, Central leaders completing training, Gwinnett Cluster Schools, host Small Group Rally with Gwinnett Medical Center, open signups for newly homes and neighborhoods, forming groups etc.) See Prayer Fulfillment actions for more Small Groups. Create a Small Group Team with three co-leaders from the Discipleship Lead Team and recruit new members for this team Volunteer time and $1,000 for small group leaders training curriculum. 7 Missions Fulfillment Action #1 Incorporate evaluation of the missions supported by FUMCLV. Evaluation Instrument = Ministry Partnership Application & Ministry Partnership Renewal Application Evaluation must involve: Community needs assessment Study and evaluation of each mission by Mission Vision Team Prayerful consideration of which missions to continue supporting, which missions to start supporting, which missions to discontinue, and which missions to adapt moving forward Report to Church Council First 120 Days Initial evaluation of each mission/ministry sponsored by FUMCLV o conducted by the Mission Vision Team o using the Evaluation Instrument address the criteria above Adapt the instrument to address not only missions sponsored financially but also those sponsored without financial support These missions should provide (the evaluation should articulate how these are addressed): An emphasis upon doing missions with, not to or for Ongoing relationships & life change amongst everyone involved Transformational, and not transactional, impact Leadership development opportunities Relationship-building between church and community Opportunities to share the Gospel using words and actions Within 12+ Months Conduct a Community Needs Assessment o conducted by the Mission Vision Team in consultation with community leaders Use results of the Community Needs Assessment to adapt the Evaluation Instrument for each mission/ministry sponsored by FUMCLV and conduct the second evaluation of each mission/ministry using the updated Evaluation Instrument, allowing us to: o Prayerfully discern which missions should be NOTE: NO DRASTIC CHANGES WOULD TAKE PLACE IN FIRST 120 DAYS o continued, added, discontinued, or adapted Report to Church Council Within 36+ Months Annually evaluate missions & ministries sponsored by FUMCLV using the applications and evaluation tools noted above Time and energy of volunteers Might need to pay outside resources for their time to help us conduct Community Needs Assessment Mission Vision Team with the support of the Pastor of Church Growth and Missions Church Council Page 7 of 11

8 Missions Fulfillment Action #2 Develop a ministry presence at Georgia Gwinnett College. Based on research, establish a timeline for how to proceed and develop ministry presence at GGC Begin missional events / prayer walks at GGC to begin forging relationships on campus Prayer Team coordinated by Pastor of Congregational Care College Ministry Team specifically focused on GGC must be developed identify staff liaison, possibly new hire SPRC to entertain the possibility of hiring someone to oversee GGC ministry if needed Missions Fulfillment Action #3 Connect spiritual gifts of church members with opportunities for missional engagement. 9 Hospitality Fulfillment Action Expand the existing hospitality team, and update signage and welcome center. Change signage inside and Reconfigure the Welcome outside to better direct people Center to be more inviting for to where they need to go our guests at all of our Conduct annual hospitality services team training Recruit new members for various roles (greeter, sip-andshare, parking lot, etc), as well as expanding the role of the hospitality team to include guest follow-up Conduct hospitality training Work with the Worship Team on the hospitality needs of the new 9:30 service in January Volunteer time on Sunday mornings Signage: $5,000-$10,000 Welcome Center reconfigure: $15,000-20,000 Hospitality team with support of the pastoral staff and lay leadership Communication Fulfillment Action Utilize technology to help promote clear and concise communication. Reconfigure the church Continuous evaluation of website to be more inviting church-wide communications and functional for our first time Make continuing education guests as well as current available to the members communications team Expand the social media presence of our church Establish a Communications Team consisting of laity and staff o This would include subscriptions based on the desired content (children s ministry, youth ministry, life groups, specific missions and prayer lists) Volunteer time Communications team with support from the communications administrator Page 9 of 11

10 Prayer Fulfillment Action #1 Create a Prayer Team, and increase prayer focus of small groups. Create 2-3 small groups specifically focused on prayer for the church and our future story Seek input from Pastor of Congregational Care and create a Prayer Team Volunteer time. Prayer Team with support from Pastor of Congregational Care and Small Group Team Prayer Fulfillment Action #2 Create quarterly Prayer/Communion/Healing Services. Prayer Service prior to the new worship schedule beginning January 8, 2017 Plan a Prayer/Communion/Healing Service during Lent 2017 Identify times and dates for ongoing quarterly Prayer/Communion/Healing Services. Explore pairing these services with significant moments in the year (examples: December 21 Longest Night Service, Lent, Back-to-School, etc.) Volunteer time Prayer Team with support from Pastor of Congregational Care, Worship Team, Hospitality Team and others Prayer Fulfillment Action #3 Plan regular community prayer walks that are done both for and with our community. Plan our first community Continue community prayer prayer walks walks on a regular basis o including one to be held at/for GGC to begin forging relationships on campus (with help from College Ministry Team) Volunteer time.
