3 ATTENTION: CLERGY AND LAITY OF THE SALISBURY DISTRICT Are you a new pastor in our district? Are you new to the lay leadership team of your church? Do you struggle with all the forms needed by the DS for Charge Conference? Are you confused about the whole process? Fear not! Your District Superintendent will be conducting a workshop on how to do the Charge Conference reports for your church. If you are responsible for any of the reports required for your Charge Conference, this is the workshop for YOU! When: Saturday, August 5th, 9 am - 12 noon Where: Nelson Memorial UMC, 200 Main Street, Hebron, MD Cost: Just your time Please contact the district office with your RSVP. The documents are available on the Pen-Del website NOW. We are asking that you print them out and bring with you to the training. Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) is offering a six week American Sign Language (ASL) Level 1 class this Fall. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm starting August 29 and will end on October 5. Lead by a deaf instructor students will learn about Deaf culture, manual alphabet, numbers, basic signs and how to talk about family and home plus much more. All classes will be held at DILA located at 806 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD. Cost is $225 which includes the textbook Signing Naturally I. Class space is limited so register early. 7 Mother Nature insisted on a date change but came through with a perfect baseball day! Everyone had a great time of fellowship and food!

8 August is PECOMTH MONTH August has been designated Pecometh Month by the Peninsula-Delaware Conference. This is your church s chance to take a special offering, hold a fundraiser or meet to include Pecometh in your Mission s In 2016, 234 campers received camperships totaling $80,602. Of those, 133 came through the Spain Grant program, which costs the family just $50 for a The Young People s Ministry Network is a new partnership between Pecometh and the Peninsula- Delaware Conference to resource youth and young adult ministries. For more information go to pecometh.org/ypmn. Wanted to say thank you to you and your staff for making my granddaughter Andrea Ryan's camp adventure a God filled experience. She sang the songs she learned all the way home! Special thank you's to your staff for the extra care and steps they took due to Andrea's food allergies. 9 Thank You for a Life That Was Changed By Rev. Michael LaClair I want to share my witness to a life that was changed at Pecometh. I pastor a small church that had one child old enough to begin Confirmation. I would de-scribe him as timid, unsure of himself and a mama s boy. He is the youngest boy in his family and has some learning disabilities. During Confirmation classes he was obedient and completed all his assign-ments. I was blessed to teach him. When I invited him to attend the Confirma-tion Retreat at Pecometh he was frightened and intimidated, but excited. He committed to go. When the weekend came we head-ed to camp. He was a nervous wreck, but he went. When we got to camp, all his nervous energy was put to use to immediately try to join in and start relationships. This was uncommon behavior for him, but he was determined to be a part of the group. As the weekend progressed we did some of the planned team-building exercises. He was active and jumped right in. We finally got to the Climbing Wall. This is where I saw the most dramatic transformation of this young man. At first, he did not want to do it. He would not be persuaded. But after he watched a few of the other young people climb, some with varying success, it came down to him and a young lady. She did not climb. I asked him one more time and he decided to climb. He went up all the way, touched the top, came down and stuck out his chest. Then he took a deep breath and smiled the biggest smile imaginable. Something happened that changed his life. He went up a fearful little boy and came down a confident, courageous lion of a young man. He experienced that success and it was life-changing. He is still full of self-assurance. His mother confided in me that he wants to become a pastor, but that s another story. Camp Pecometh has proved his mettle and tempered him for life. THANK YOU!
