5 Congregational Meeting: April 3, 2016 President, Doris Yarnell opened the Congregational Meeting at 10:40 am, by reading a scripture verse: II Chronicles 7:14 and led everybody in prayer. Called the meeting to order to discuss and will be voting by way of secret ballot: 1) Yarnell property 2 bids on demolishing the Yarnell property 2) How many communions per year down to 7 or keep at 12 3) Vote on designation of funds leave on envelopes or leave off 1 Vote on person to demolish the Yarnell property: Troy Peters - $5, (Quoted price) Jay Coder - $7, (Estimated price, depending on how many loads of top soil needed) Doris - The congregation voted to demolish the Yarnell house in January at the Annual Meeting. The Property Committee received two bids. Our Constitution reads that anything over $5, must have congregational approval. Everything in the house has been disconnected Are there any questions: Roger Vandermark Is it necessary to demolish the house now? We do not have the funds; the church maintenance funds are in the negative? Wouldn t it be better to wait until we have the funds? What is the ground to be used for, do we have to have it demolished right away? Doris The money will come from the New Pastor Fund, which came from monies on the budget to pay a pastor. However, we did not have a pastor. Also, some of the donations were given by members directly to the pastor funds. There is $14, in the Pastor fund. Plus, Pastor Koch only is asking for $39, instead of the $63, for full time pastor. We can take the money from there, and are asking for congregational approval. Any money left over will be discussed in another time. Anybody that would like to view the bids, see Doris. We do not like to spend money until we have to, but right now we are paying the taxes and insurance on the property. Doris - If there are no more questions mark your ballot with a check mark as to which contractor you want. 2 Vote on how many communions per year: 7 times per year 12 times per year Doris for the past 10 years, we have had communion the first of each month. Before that we had it 7 times a year on Christian holidays. Some feel that is too often as it loses it importance and meaning. It is hard to get people to take care of getting communion ready and clean up. I have talked to Pastor Koch, he said whatever we decide will be fine with him. We need to order the envelopes now. Are there any questions on this issue: Lois Stringer by having it 12 times a year, we are reminded of what Christ means to us. If you only come sometimes you will miss out on communion. Shirley Brungart Will it only be the first Sunday of the month?

6 Doris On Christian Sundays, some are not always Christian Sunday s First Sunday after Ash Wednesday (March 5, 2017 Easter (April 16, 2017) Pentecost (June 4, 2017) First Sunday in August (August 6, 2017 First Sunday in October World Wide Communion (October 1, 2017) First Sunday in Advent (December 3, 2017) Christmas Eve (December 24, 2017) Gerogia Homan It is hard to find people to help with communion, some that are asked will not help. Seven is fine. Doris - If there are no more questions mark your ballot with a check mark for 7 or Vote do you prefer designation funds on envelope or leave off when we have communion: Designate funds Leave off Doris The past several years, it was printed on the envelopes, however some of the places were already a line item for the budget. Some prefer that we have no communions envelopes for budget items which were about half of them. Without place being designated on the envelopes, we can look at other needs at time of a communion and advise the congregation at least 2 weeks before where it will go. May s communion is designated to OCWM which we already had an offering for them in January and also they are on the budget for $2, for the year. It was agreed on by Council at March s meeting to change the designation to our Building/Maintenance as we are in the minus instead of OCWM. Are there any questions on this issue: Joyce Adgate Right now we have (4) envelopes designated for Building/Maintenance, is it not enough since we are $ in the minus. Doris - If there are no other questions please vote to what you prefer. We will have the results in next weeks bulletin. After the results are tallied we will advise the person to proceed with the demolition. Anything else? Do I hear a motion to close the meeting? Georgia Homan made a motion, Lucretia Swatsworth seconded the motion..

Martha Deitrich opened the meeting with various scripture readings. She shared a few Sunny Side of Life sayings and closed with prayer. President Georgia Homan called the meeting to order. The minutes from the November 30, 2015 meeting were read and approved; the treasurer s report as of December 31, 2015 was given and approved. The Guild currently has a balance of $1, but a bill from January has not been subtracted from this total. Old Business: 1) Georgia noted this year s Guild booklet was dedicated to Kay Shultz for her service to the Guild and also in memory of Barbara Vandermark who faithfully served the Women s Guild. 2) The sheet to sign up for flowers on the altar is located on the bulletin board in the vestibule Please sign up for a Sunday. Plants may be used as well as flowers. New Business: 1) Georgia thanked Lucretia Swatsworth for her time and effort cleaning the communion sets They now sparkle! 2) The communion set was moved and is now located in a cupboard in the kitchen. It is locked The key to the lock is on the ring with the kitchen key. 3) The prayer chain seems to be going okay. No problems have been reported. 4) Joann Truckenmiller motioned we begin the Guild meetings at 7:00p instead of 7:30p and also to not have snacks. Kay Shultz seconded. The next meeting of the Women s Guild will be April 25 th, 2016 at 7:00p Kay Shultz volunteered for devotions. Respectfully submitted, ~Tam Helwig
