3 I want to change the world and I hope you do also! Today s scriptures are so filled with the power of God, that it can hardly be contained. Prophet-Isaiah, paints a picture where almost everyone and every situation, that needs healing, is given it. It s accomplished because it s God s plan and will. The command is issued to let God s saving actions begin in the lives of those who need it and need Him. All sorts of physical conditions are reversed and people are re-conditioned back to fullness and health. It s a Genesis moment where sight, hearing, physical agility, and even voices are restored to fullness because it s part of Gods intention and goodness. As with the deaf mute in our gospel, Jesus ministry was to offer fullness of life to those who needed it. But what happens after Jesus heals someone? Oftentimes we aren t told, but I want to presume that they exercised their restored condition and saw things differently, heard things in a new way, walked to places previously hindered from going to, and spoke with an assuredness that only God could have blessed them with. Now there s all of us! What if you can already see, your hearing is so-so, you re able to get around pretty well, and you can speak and be understood? Don t take all those capabilities for granted. Be thankful that you can use your body and soul to effect some change in the world around you. Having the capability and not doing anything, is similar to being without full use of who you are. As with each of Jesus healings, they were done for a specific purpose, to build up the Kingdom of God. When someone receives some sort of restoration, it s to show Gods love and power. Nothing was done by Jesus without a purpose. Take a look at todays Psalm 146, we respond: Praise the Lord, my soul. Implied is that we also will use our bodies to work at changing the world by allowing ourselves to be changed. For some of us it ll be physical healing and for others it might be some spiritual adjustments, whatever we need, ask the Lord and be ready to get to work at making a difference. You and I can change the world, even if in little ways, but at least in some way trying to make some differences.
4 Stewardship Corner Lesson 115 Stewardship at Holy Trinity Catholic Church The Wedding Garment How is it that you came without a wedding garment? (Matthew 22:1-14) We ve all been to a wedding. We ve all seen the bride, groom and attendants dressed so beautifully. And then there s the long lost uncle. He has come but with no shave. He has come complete with tank top, flip flops; ready for the beach. The groom might want him to leave, but WWJD? He might welcome him as part of the family; as he is, with his gifts. We too have gifts, some more, some less; but we come to the feast with what Jesus gave us and use our gifts to serve His church and mankind. Let s foster our gifts; be thankful to God and share them with one another. Let s practice the giving of Stewardship. You Can t Out Do God s Generosity Summary of Weekly Offerings September 1 and 2, 2018 Offerings $8, MMR* $ Thrift Shop $ Candles $ Healing Mass $ TOTAL $11, * Major Maintenance and Repair Another church project, completed. Thanks to the hard work, and resources, of our Food Fest committees and workers we now have a completed fence on the driveway as you enter our property. Money that was raised from last years event made it possible to complete this project. Not only does this make our property look better, it also adds to a sense of welcoming others to a clean and beautiful property. Taking care of Gods property is everyone s responsibility and we especially want to thank all who worked and participated in last years event and hopefully will work and enjoy this years Food Fest. It took a year to get all the permits and coordination accomplished
5 Help!!!!!! More ushers are needed. We are in need of more men or women to assist in the taking up the collection at the Saturday night 5:00pm masses. Each and every ministry is essential to the flow of every mass that we celebrate in our church and ushers are important and needed. If you are interested and can assist, please speak to Fr. Mike and he will connect you with those who already usher and need more volunteers to help them. God bless you for making yourself available to our community. As they say: many hands make the work lighter. Religious Education Classes have begun for this year! Last Sunday was the first gathering of our children for Religious Education classes in the parish. Our teachers, assistants, and helpful parents made our first gathering a success. Our children were greeted and enjoyed a great start to a new year of growing in the faith. This year is important for us because we will be participating in going back to the Original Order of the sacraments. Meaning that the order will be Confirmation, Confession and Holy Communion. For those children who have already made their Confession and Communion, they will receive the sacrament of Confirmation this year. Details were published throughout this past year and more information will be shared with parents at today s (Sunday at 10:00am in the gym) parents meeting. May the Lord guide our teachers and bless our children in their efforts to teach and grow in the faith.

7 Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable and routine modes of living, in order to take up the challenge of making Christ known in the modern metropolis. It is you who must go out into the byroads and invite everyone you meet to the banquet which God has prepared for his people. The Gospel must not be kept hidden because of fear or indifference. It was never meant to be hidden away in private. It has to be put on a stand so that people may see its light and give praise to our heavenly Father. -St John Paul the Great Agnus Day Mark 7:31-37
