Help us to reopen the door to our hearts, so that they are always open, so that you and all your children may always come in. 12 NOTICES Annual Clothing Drive We will be collecting items for Friendship House s Clothing Bank of Delaware throughout the month of September. All clothing items and bed linens are welcomed, especially children s, men s, and larger-sized, work appropriate women s clothing. It is important that donations be clean and in wearable condition. All donations should be bagged (large garbage bags work well) and left in the Christian Education building in Room 205 during office hours (Mon Fri 8:30am 12:30pm) or after church on Sundays. If climbing stairs is a problem, simply leave your donations on the first floor making sure that the bags do not interfere with normal traffic. Tax donation slips will be available along with a guide to help determine the value of donated items. We would like to participate in a special Back-to-School clothing drive being held September 14 th at the Clothing Bank of Delaware s warehouse. Please gather as many new or gently used children s clothing as you can, bag them separately, mark them as children s clothing and deliver them to the church by 1:00 p.m. Sunday 9/14.

13 They will be delivered that day to the CBD warehouse located at the corner of Vandever Ave. and Jessup St. (1603 Jessup St.) in Wilmington. Feel free to stop by the CBD warehouse that Sunday between noon and 3:00 p.m. Bring your children and grandchildren to see how your donations affect the lives of others. Any children s items collected after this date will be handled as part of our regular contribution. If you need additional information, please contact Conchita Showell or Janet Spring. Congregational Meeting There will be a meeting of the congregation on September 21 st after worship in the Meeting House for the purpose of electing a trustee to the Class of 2011.

14 Friendship House Breakfast/Toilet Paper Drive On September 13th and 14th we will be preparing and serving breakfast at the 8th and Shipley location. There will be sign-up sheets posted in the CE building for food donations and volunteering. We will also be collecting packages of toilet paper for distribution at the various Friendship House locations throughout the city, including The Corner House. A collection box will be available for donations in the front hallway of the CE Building. 15 Plan on Giving Thanks We need a few volunteers to plan and supervise the Thanksgiving Breakfast on Thursday, November 27. Look for the sign-up sheet in the Fellowship Hall during coffee hour. The revival of this event was a huge success last year, with many requests that it be repeated. For any questions, see Nancy Coning or Pat Taylor. Volunteers for Membership Evangelism Teams Would you like to see our congregation gain in new members? Would you be willing to give some time and energy to sharing our warm fellowship with others? We are looking for volunteers to serve on four special teams: - Hospitality (welcoming and incorporating new members) - Publicity (getting the word out through print and electronic resources) - Events (developing events for the purpose of attracting new members) - Neighborhoods (identifying particular neighborhoods and strategies for meeting their needs) Share the good news of NCPC!
