Filipino Apostolate Mass The Filipino Apostolate Malden Chapter celebrates Mass in this Parish every second Sunday of the month at 1:00 PM. Following the Mass, there is a pot luck lunch in the hall. Mass Schedule for Christmas Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24 3:30 PM Christmas Carols 4:00 PM Mass Children s Pageant Christmas Eve Mass - Our celebration of the nativity of the Lord begins at 3:30 PM Christmas Eve with singing Christmas Carols before the 4:00 Mass. Christmas Day Masses Monday, December 25 7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM Coffee and Donut Social There will be a Coffee and Donut Social after all the Masses on Sunday, January 7, sponsored by our Youth Ministry group. Please come down and show your support of the teens. Community Blood Drive St. Joseph Parish Community Blood Drive will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM in the parish hall. Peace and Joy to All For Fr. John, Fr. Brian, our parish staff and myself, I extend Christmas greetings of peace, joy and happiness to all of the St. Joseph Parish community. This is a such a wondrous time of year a time to give thanks for the awesome love of God for all of humanity. It is a time when we rejoice in Christ s gift of salvation for all peoples throughout history. God s love makes all things possible and enables us to share peace, hope and love with each other. As we gather with family and friends, and witness the joy of children as they share in the magic and beauty of Christmas, let us take some time to reflect that through the incarnation of Christ, we have been gifted with the most precious gift imaginable eternal salvation. May the certainty that we are loved by God uplift our hopes and spirits and strengthen our resolve to love each other; and may the joy of Christmas be with us all the days of our lives. Merry Christmas Fr. Bill Sanctuary Flowers The Flowers and plants that will be on the Sanctuary during the Christmas Season will be in memory of family and friends of parishioners of St. Joseph Parish. A complete listing is on the Prayer Board in the front entrance of the church. Bottle and Can Drive St. Joseph Parish Cub Pack #609 will have their Bottle and Can Drive on the weekend of Saturday, January 6, 2018 before and after the 4:00 PM Mass and Sunday, January 7, 2018 after the 7:30 AM Mass and before and after all other Masses until 11:30 AM. Please leave the bags in the usual area; we will take them downstairs. Altar Server Training Altar Server Training will take place on January 6, 13, 20 and the 27th from 12pm to 1pm. Anyone interested in being a server must be able to attend all four weeks. In order to be an Altar Server, you must have already received First Holy Communion. We hope that you are interested and want to be an Altar Server. Please call the Religious Education office at to register for the training. Bake Sale The students of the St. Joseph Youth Ministry program will be holding a bake sale in the foyer. The bake sale will take place January 20th after the 4:00 PM Mass and January 21st after the 7:30, 9:00 and 10:30 AM Masses. Donations may be dropped off before all the Masses on Sunday, January 21st.

Religious Education Registration Religious Education registration for will begin on January 2nd and will close on April 30th, for all who wish to participate for the upcoming year. Our program includes Kindergarten through the 10th grade. All participants must register no later than April 30th. Tuition for one child is $100.00, two children $ and three or more $ The First Holy Communion fee is $30.00 and the Confirmation fee is $ There is a space available on the registration form for anyone needing a payment plan. If a family registers a child/children and then moves out of the parish before the beginning of classes, a full refund will be made. All families who now participate in the program will be receiving registration materials in the mail. Families who have not had children in the program may call the Religious Education Office at or may drop by the office for information and registration materials. The office is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Someone from Catholic Daughters will have a collection box at all entrances to the Church before and after all Masses. Any denomination will be appreciated. Witness to Life Pilgrimage: Jan The Archdiocese of Boston Witness to Life pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. begins with a Witness to Life Rally on Thursday, Jan. 18, 7pm at St. Stephen Parish in Framingham. The Rally is open to all even if you re not going on to the March for Life in D.C. The $ pp/(quad occupancy) package includes transportation, hotel, meals, tours, and WTL apparel. The giver Many Christian families struggle with what role if any Santa Claus should play in their Christmas celebrations. No matter what you decide, it s fascinating to know the history of the real-life St. Nicholas. Born about 270 A.D., Nicholas was a bishop in Myra, or modern-day Turkey. In the year 325, he was part of the Council of Nicaea, which produced the Nicene Creed. Nicholas, known for his generosity, often gave away his money anonymously. According to tradition, he secretly provided dowries for the three daughters of a bankrupt merchant. Nicholas threw two bags of gold through open windows and placed the third in a stocking hanging by the fireplace to dry. Thus began the Christmas tradition of placing gifts in stockings. St. Nicholas is quoted as saying, The giver of every good and perfect gift has called upon us to mimic God s giving, by grace, through faith, and this is not of ourselves.
