It is a subject that we often hear about through the media, but few Christians have a deep understanding of the Muslim religion or are acquainted with what the Qur an and other primary Islamic sources actually teach. This means that few are equipped to effectively bring the gospel to their Muslim friends, colleagues and acquaintances. In this presentation, we will delve into the primary Islamic sources to investigate what Islam teaches about Jesus, the Trinity, salvation and Jihad. We will consider how to graciously demonstrate the internal problems and inconsistencies inherent in the Islamic religion; as well as how to explain core Christian doctrines in a way that Muslims can relate to; and how to skillfully and persuasively share the gospel with your Muslim friends. Pornography is a plague upon our culture, affecting many young men and women, and even pastors and church leaders. In this presentation, I will consider not only pornography s negative social consequences, but also whether there is scientific evidence to suggest that the consumption of pornography may have detrimental effects on our psychological wellbeing. We will also discuss how pornography should be engaged with Biblically by focusing our minds on God and His Word, and the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the extent that the alluring call of temptation is drowned out by the sweeter melody of the gospel. 5

12 GK KAMEELDRIFT S OUTREACH ACTIONS Cookies for Africa! Kameeldrift congregation has a range of outreach actions and one way we build the congregation is through our annual cookie project. A mill is pressed for a spot of coffee and custard cookies, while balls are rolled for the ginger and sugar cookies, and a chat around the table. This is the gettingto-know and building leg of the project. Then the great packaging adventure starts. The cookies are weighed into 1kg packages and wrapped, to sell at about R95-00/kg. The project grows by the year. Last year 1 012kg cookies were baked and packaged more than a ton! This year we re firmly headed that way. The profit of this project goes to institutions or schools with underprivileged children, such as the Pretoria School for Cerebral Palsied Learners, New Hope School, Transvalia School, Sonitus for the hearing impaired and other organisations. Kerk Kameeldrift is Plot 175 an informal settlement of approximately inhabitants. The settlement has a care centre for orphans and children with special needs, named: ROVCC: Roodeplaat

13 Orphans and Vulnerable Children Care Centre. Kameeldrift congregation provides food to 230 children every day. Aside from the food, we also feed their souls. Weekly lessons are prepared in English at the rectory and presented by Susan to certain care workers. They then in turn convey the content to the children. The past week 30 English Bibles have been distributed at the centre, where they are kept and used in pairs during lessons. Thank you to the Bible Society that made this effort possible so quickly! 15 WE INTRODUCE Rev Johannes and Lizanne Aucamp GK Rietvallei (TOPIA) Most church leaders in Africa have little or no training. TOPIA (Training of pastors in Africa) has undertaken to serve church leaders in Africa through training, an initiative launched in Johannes and Lizanne Aucamp have been entrusted with serving God and His people in Africa with such training. Lizanne, Lourens (8), Arina (6) and Lizanné (4) usually accompany them. While Johannes conducts the training, Lizanne is mom and teacher to the children. TOPIA is particularly active in Southern Africa, offering training at either colleges or within the communities of the leaders. It trains and also equips others to train church leaders and thus Rev Dreyer Potgieter and Rev Giepie Van der Merwe equipped church leaders in Malawi in May, while Thinus Herman of Rooihuiskraal guided leaders at Back to the Bible Mission in the Barberton area through the book of Romans. Johannes Aucamp furthermore led leaders of a range of countries at MET to equip the churches in their particular country to serve their communities. Outreach teams are also equipped to conduct this training. For example: The outreach team of Pretoria- Annlin and Pretoria-Montanapoort received the means to train church leaders in Mozambique and the Aucamps went to Covenant College in Zambia to train church leaders in August and September. TOPIA s training and material are simple and geared toward entry-level leadership. The focus falls on Biblical discipleship, service and Biblical truths as opposed to African and Western lies.
