Everyone is welcome to join us. FROM THE COUNCIL: Congregational Meeting: There will be a Congregational Meeting to be on Sunday, April 28, after the morning service and before Sunday School for ballot voting on reaffirming the search for a full-time Associate Pastor. Please see the job description attached. Opt-Out: Any congregation member may elect to not receive printed church supplements and newsletters in their mailbox by contacting the church secretary. FROM THE DEACONS: Missionary Support: Please prayerfully remember our missionary support commitments in your giving. We have only raised $2,880 of the $6,400 that we pledged to give for missionary support quarterly. The remaining money for this quarter will have to come out of the Missions Fund, but it will also be running low after this transaction. 1 st Quarter Report: The 1 st Quarter Report is attached to the back of the supplement. NEWSLETTER: Articles: All articles for the May/June Newsletter are due by today. 8 th Graders and High School Seniors: Please return the paper that was in your mailbox. College Graduates: If you received a sheet and it doesn t apply, please return it saying that. If you didn t receive a sheet and need one, please let Sue know. FROM THE FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE: The Easter Sunrise BREAKFAST is only a few weeks away. In lieu of that, we are asking for food donations this year for the breakfast. There is a sign-up sheet on the Information Center Table. The committee will provide the fresh fruit, but please sign-up for the other items if you are willing to serve in this way. Please sign up by today and have the food items to the church kitchen by 8 a.m. on Easter morning, April 21. FROM OSKALOOSA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL: Pop Can Drive: Starting Monday, April 15 Thursday, April 18, a trailer will again be in the school parking lot to collect cans and bottles for our third Can Drive for the school year. The trailer will be open from 7:50 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Proceeds will be used to fund the Kansas City Band Trip in May. If you have any questions, feel free to Mr. Mitchell or call the school at FROM PELLA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: Drive 4UR School Event: PCHS and Ulrich Ford are once again teaming up to Drive 4UR School on Saturday, April 20. This spring the baseball, girls basketball and boys soccer teams will be receiving the funding. This has been a successful fundraising event for us in the past. The school receives $20 per test drive between 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the 20 th & an extra $10 if you take another test drive in the new Edge. You may designate what program you would like to support. Come and test drive a new Ford vehicle and support PCHS in the process! Society Meeting: This year s Society Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 25. The meeting will be preceded at 6:00 p.m. with a free pork dinner served by the FFA club and the Ag Advisory Committee. The Society Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. with reports on the recent strategic planning initiative, current financial status of the school, the upcoming Spanish Immersion program opportunity, and proposed board governance
3 changes. Immediately following the society meeting there will be short meeting of the PCHS Endowment/Foundation Corporation Society. Our guest speaker Vladimir Mitnitskv is traveling from Israel to Iowa with the Jews for Jesus Ministry and will answer that question as he presents Christ in the Passover and what it means for us today. This special presentation will be held on Monday, April 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Omega Church, located at 203 Hope St. in Oskaloosa. You ll gain wonderful insights on how the pieces of God s plan of salvation fit together and remember this visual display of the Passover pageantry for years to come. Wednesday evening s session will begin at 7:00 p.m., is free and open to the public and is entitled Goodness: What it is, Why it s Important, and How We Can Gain It. 6 Oskaloosa First Christian Reformed Church Pastor Job Description Job Title: Pastor of Family Discipleship Reports To: The Elders Position Status: Full-Time Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 Purpose: The Pastor of Family Discipleship will develop a ministry to fully participate in the lives of all members encouraging them to grow and mature in their faith. The position will also work with the congregation to promote evangelism. Responsibilities: Be accessible to all members for pastoral needs and counsel. Lead profession of faith classes for all new members. Encourage and train youth leaders as they interact and engage with the youth. Direct a program for new members and new Christian orientation. Work with local agencies in the work of outreach and evangelism. Work closely with the Lead Pastor to ensure ministerial continuity. Design and lead 20-30% of the worship services working with the worship committee to ensure services glorify God and edify believers. Be available to assist with calling on elderly, hospitalized and grieving as coordinated with the lead pastor. Attend Council, Consistory, Pastor staff, education and evangelism committee meetings.
