2 Merry Christmas! I hope that everyone had a blessed Christmas day! It was wonderful to see everyone that made it out for our Christmas Eve service. I am taking a couple of days off to head to Eureka MO to have Christmas with my family. On Sunday the theme will be the history of some of the oldest Christmas Carols. There will be singing, scripture and prayer. I ll be back Tuesday January 2, On January 27 th we will have our annual leadership planning meeting. We will meet from 9 am to noon in Hay s Hall. Everyone is encouraged to attend but especially those who are committee chairs and those who serve on a committee. Our theme this year is Mission. Since we spent last year focused inward as we worked on the renovation, it seems only right that this year we have a more outward focus. Be thinking about mission projects we can do around Wellsville. And maybe we could look into an out of town mission trip if any are interested. Thank you for all the cards and gifts this Christmas season. Thank you to the UMW for the gift we re planning our Florida trip so your gift goes into that fund!! Blessings Pastor Kathy I ll see you next year! Page 2 **JA NUA RY **

4 DAY LITES MEETING January 1:15pm Leader: Program: NITE LITES MEETING January 7:00pm Hostesses: Devotions: Leader: Program: Epiphany or Three Kings' Day is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. In Western Christianity, the feast commemorates principally (but not solely) the visit of the Magi to the Christ child, and thus Jesus' physical manifestation to the Gentiles. Helping Hands Food Family Worship Center The traditional date for the feast is January 6. In many Western Christian Churches, the eve of the feast is celebrated as Twelfth Night, which is where the Christmas Carol The Twelve Days of Christmas comes from. Popular Epiphany customs include Epiphany singing, chalking the door, having one's house blessed, consuming Three Kings Cake, winter swimming, as well as attending church services. It is customary for Christians in many localities to remove their Christmas decorations on Epiphany Eve. Harvester s Drive-Thru is Friday, January 19th 9:00 am. The regular distribution is Saturday, January 20th 10:30 am. If you wish to help, please be there at 9:30. Our Church potluck is January 14th. If anyone has clothing for Hope House (new or old, as long as it is usable) please put them in the red bin. Dianna Jerrell will pick it up on Sunday and deliver it the next week. 5 Eugene has been a member all his life. Eugene and Janet Harris Janet became an associate member when Richard Fitzgerald was Pastor at United Methodist Church. We were married in the Annuciation Catholic Church by Father Gerald Sheeds and Rev. Dennis Ackerman on October 6, Father Sheeds blessed the rings and Rev. Ackerman announced us as Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harris, so in our way of thinking we have been married twice.. Eugene s favorite memory is the Sunday School Teachers, being part of the Methodist Youth Fellowship where there were at least kids that participated in MYF. Janet s memory of the United Methodist Church, there are a variety of things, but one thins was being the local disaster representative. Rev. Fitzgerald position me into it and as a result we had a Disaster Training with American Red Cross, Sheriff s Department, Wellsville Police, Fire Department, Franklin County Emergency and EMS. No one knew what they should do, or what type of equipment that both City and County had available to them When I went on the Mission Committee we did the Heifer Project and we invited Terry and Judy Wollen to speak about Heifer and the purpose behind it. Talk about rasing money on a Sunday afternoon. We raised enough to buy a cow and sheep. What makes Janet happy is the Outreach that the United Methodist Church does for the community and surrounding areas. What bonds us both to the United Methodist Church is the Family that we have lost: Ernest and Ada Harris, Kathleen Harris, John Andrew Harris and Eric Harris and the Church Family. We feel very Blessed. Eugene and Janet Harris Page 5
