We are to go forth and show Jesus love and forgiveness through loving care for all God s creation. Bible Studies Sunday morning Bible Study continues moving through the Gospel Project Chronological materials, focusing on the Gospels and Jesus teaching. We meet beginning at 8:05 a.m. The Monday afternoon Bible Study continues its study in Hallmarks of Lutheran Identity. Please join us as we discuss key Christian teachings of Scripture and how our understanding of them makes us uniquely Lutheran. We meet each Monday from 1:30 3:00 p.m. We will not meet on March 26 or April 2. Lenten Worship Opportunities We will be offering two series this year during the Lenten Season Worship. Our Wednesday Midweek Services will follow the theme Go and Be Reconciled: What Does This Mean? Lent is the perfect time to reflect upon our being reconciled to God through the life, suffering, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. However, that is only one part of the reconciliation message. God also calls us to be reconciled one to another. Each week we will look at one of the six chief parts of Luther s Small Catechism and learn what it and Scripture have to say concerning the full message of reconciliation. Please join us each Wednesday through Lent at either 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Be Reconciled to God: Receive God s Forgiveness (Confession) Lent 3 March 7 Be Reconciled to Others: Confess to the Other Person (Creed) Lent 4 March 14 Be Reconciled to Others: Forgive as God Forgave You (Lord s Prayer) Lent 5 March 21 Be Reconciled to Others: Restore with Gentleness (Lord s Supper) Our Weekend Services will follow the theme Thy Will Be Done. Not as I will, but as you will, Jesus prayed to his Father the night before he went to the cross for our salvation. And that is our prayer as well this Lent as we seek to do God s will in our lives, as we draw near to the observance of Christ s suffering, death and resurrection during Holy Week. Written by Rev. Justin Rossow, each service in the series focuses on a different aspect of God s will at work among us. Biblical characters are used as insightful reference points each week to guide us in following our Lord more nearly day by day. 2 Worship Anew Worship Anew is a thirtyminute Christian worship experience featuring classic hymns, the Apostles Creed, the Lord s Prayer, and a 10- minute message by Lutheran Church Missouri Synod pastors. Beginning on June 28, 2015, RCCA will begin airing WSFI on Solarus Cable Channel 3 and Charter Cable Channel 985 on Sunday mornings at 6:30 am and Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am. WSFI can also be seen on Stevens Point Community TV (Charter Cable Channel 984) at the following times: Mondays 12:30 pm, Tuesdays 2:00 pm, Thursdays 2:30 pm, Fridays 10:30 am and Saturdays at 11:00 am. March 11, 2018 Fourth Sunday in Lent Psalm: 107:1-9; Old Testament: Numbers 21:4-9; Gospel: John 3:14-21 When Snakebit, Do What? - Sermon Text: Numbers 21:4-9 - Rev. William Mueller Numbers 21 records a rather unsavory episode from God s Old Testament people. They grumble and complain yet again! In order to refine their faith, and to point the way to the ultimate Savior, God sends fiery serpents among them. Their method of salvation is much the same as the method of our salvation. Look to the cross! Look to Christ! Jesus Foretold His Death - Sermon Text: Mark 10: Rev. Dr. Walter Maier III Jesus foretold his death. He knew exactly what would happen to him in Jerusalem. This has great meaning for our life and brings us much comfort. March 25, 2018 Palm Sunday / Sunday of the Passion Psalm: 118:19-29; Epistle: Philippians 2:5-11; Gospel: John 12:20-43 A Terrifying Task - Sermon Text: John 12: Rev. Paul Shoemaker Have you ever been confronted with a task that was terrifying? Jesus was. On Palm Sunday He entered Jerusalem knowing His fate was death on a cross. Please join us on Worship Anew as we consider A Terrifying Task. Spaghetti Dinner Thank You The Evening Guild would like to thank everyone who attended the Valentine Spaghetti Supper on Sunday, February 11 th for their loyal support. Over 200 people were served the delicious homemade dinner and delicious desserts served by candlelight. A special Thank You goes out to the Youth of the congregation for their assistance---you sure made our work easier! We cannot forget to extend an additional Thank You to our Auxiliary and other volunteers for their help with setup, cooking, serving and clean up! A big Thank You is extended to the marquee sponsors, print media sponsors and the electronic media sponsors. Thank You also to the all the Evening Guild committees to make this event a success! Dr. Ken Klaus Next week The Lutheran Hour celebrates the Savior's resurrection. Today we mourn the unjust murder of the Savior by considering the text: "And they crucified Him." (Mark 14:24a) Living Lord s Supper The Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield, 205 E. 3 rd Street will be presenting the Living Lord s Supper on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. and Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. (It is suggested that you arrive early.) Flooring Fund Update January 31, $10, Donations; 2/1/18 to 2/18/ Sale of Younkers Books thru 2/20/ Total $11, Next meeting: March 27, 6:30 P.M. Scrip Scrap Corner Easter is just around the corner. It s time to start thinking about purchasing Scrip for your Easter holiday. Mc Donald s and Culvers would make a great gift for your child or grandchild from the Easter Bunny. Also, Copp s, IGA and Walmart are great to use for your Easter Dinner grocery shopping. We have added BP Gas Station to the Scrip Program, the card is $50.00 and the profit is 1.5%. Please support St. John and purchase scrip cards for your Easter needs. Our profit total for February was Pancake Supper Thank You Thank you to all who supported and make the youth pancake supper another great success. Also, thank you to the youth/families who volunteered and donated items to make a successful pancake supper. Page 3

4 Ladies Aid Pie Sale Thank You The Ladies Aid would like to thank everyone who made our pie sale a huge success by purchasing pies. Also, thank you to the Ladies Aid members who volunteered to help bake 44 pies in the kitchen on Friday; They were: Mona Heindl, Marion Oleson, Cindy Eberhardt, Sharon Coley, Elaine Polansky, Natalie Reinke and Gail Bossingham and also to the other Ladies Aid members who baked their pies at home. We sold 50+ pies and had only 3 pies left over. The money earned will be given to the Flooring Fund. Maundy Thursday Soup and Sandwich Lunch After the morning Maundy Thursday Service, the Ladies Aid will be serving a delicious homemade chicken noodle soup and sandwich luncheon. There will also be delicious bars. Please join us after the morning service for food and fellowship. Outside Custodian The Outside Custodian position has been filled by Rollie Ashbeck. He also takes care of the cemetery. Thank You very much Rollie for accepting this position. You will be a great asset to our church and will do a great job. Page 4
