CELEBRATION OF THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION: In Holy Communion (the Lord s Supper), we receive, together with the bread and wine, the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, given and shed for us for the forgiveness of sins. Scripture urges us to receive the Sacrament worthily. Those who receive the Sacrament worthily are those who are baptised, repent of their sin, trust in Jesus Christ as their only Saviour, believe in his real presence in the Sacrament and intend to lead a holy life in obedience to God s Word. In Holy Communion, we are united with Christ and with one another. By communing together, we say: We are one in our faith. We believe and confess the same things about Jesus Christ and his Supper. If you are not a member of the Lutheran Church and you have questions about attending the Lord s Supper, please arrange to speak to Pastor prior to attending.

Others in special need at this time: The family of Consie Irrgang as they mourn her death this week. Barossa North Parish Call Call Meeting: The call meeting on Sunday 11th November at Holy Trinity elected Pastor David Wear to be called to the Barossa North Parish. We pray that God will bless him as he makes his deliberation in the coming weeks. Parish Confirmation Class 2018: Last Class for this year will be tomorrow 3rd December at Holy Trinity Church Hall at 4.00 pm. Classes will resume with the start of the school year in Confirmation 2019: Could you please forward the names of any young people entering high school in 2019 who would be thus eligible to start Confirmation classes in We would like to start the new group at the beginning of the school year and have the 2 classes running concurrently until Easter. Strait Gate Light Pass Combined Choir: Choir practice for the Candlelight Service will continue on Monday night at 7.00 pm at Strait Gate. For any other details, please contact Elaine Schmidt on or Candlelight service: Candelabra, hurricane glasses to be left in the vestry by the morning of Sunday the 16 th. All Strait Gate members attending the service are asked to bring a plate of Christmas biscuits or cake to share. Neukirch Advent Evening: Our traditional Advent evening THIS EVENING at Neukirch Hall at 7.00 pm, to celebrate the beginning of the season of preparation. Bible Study: The next Bible study is on Monday 10th December at Neukirch Hall at 7.30 pm. All are welcome and as this is a flexible group, it won t matter if you haven t attended already! Come and join in the study of the Word!

5 Ebenezer / Neukirch Lutheran Women Magazine Subscriptions: Lutheran Women Magazine subs are now due. Please pay Ruth Kleinig at Neukirch or Gwen Ruediger at Ebenezer. Cost is $10 for six issues per year which is good value and good reading. New subscribers are always welcome. Ebenezer Lutheran Community Care (LCC): LCC Gifts. Please remember to consider gifts for teenagers aged for LCC. Suggestions include sports equipment, socks, caps, drink bottles, art supplies, personal products and cosmetics. Items can be placed under the Christmas tree in the Hall until Sunday 2nd December. More info on the flyer or see Fiona Hampel. Thank you for your support. Christmas Movie Night: Sunday 9th December at 4.00 pm at the Ebenezer Hall. Movie: The Star BYO bean bags, snacks, etc. Fellowship Tea after the movie. See later in this bulletin for more info. Truro Truro Ladies Fellowship: Christmas social and lunch on Wednesday 5th December at 12:00 noon at Tanunda Club. Bring a friend and gifts to exchange. Stockwell Church Council Meeting: Thursday 6th December at 8.00 pm in the Vestry. Immanuel, Light Pass Advent Service and Lunch: Advent Sunday TODAY, is a combined service at Immanuel Light Pass. It will be followed by a combined shared lunch. Death: Last Tuesday evening, 27th November, Consie IRRGANG died suddenly in the Tanunda Hospital after suffering a heart attack at home late in the afternoon. Her funeral will take place at Immanuel Light Pass on Tuesday 4th December, at am, followed by burial in the Immanuel Cemetery. May God bring his comfort and reassurance to her family at this time of sadness. Women s Fellowship Christmas Lunch: Wednesday 5th December at pm at the Vine Inn. Women s Fellowship Membership: It is that time of the year when membership donations for next year are due. The amount is $22 (which includes the subscription for Lutheran Women magazine) and is payable to the Fellowship Treasurer, Sandy John. Sausage Sizzle: There is a free Sausage Sizzle planned for Sunday 9th December after the am service. Please bring a plate of dessert to share. Nominations: In readiness for AGM Nominations next year, please contact Pastor Wally, Tim Hage, Alan John, or Kelly Mattner if you wish to volunteer your services for any committee position or resign from your current positions.

6 General Angaston Carols: The annual Angaston Carols evening will take place on Sunday 9th December 2018 at 7.00 pm in the Angaston Town Hall. It will feature the Valley Voices Choir, the Marananga Band and supporting artists. There will be an offering to support local charities. Strait Gate Candlelight Service: Sunday 16th December 2018 at 8.00 pm in the Strait Gate Church. This will feature the combined Light Pass Choir and supporting musicians. Lutheran Women SA-NT Retreat: Friday 18th - Sunday 20th January, 2019 Pass It On at Australian Lutheran College, North Adelaide. Cost for weekend $150 inclusive of all meals. Retreat Chaplain - Pastor Nigel Rosenzweig. Registration forms available from the Fellowship/Guild Secretaries. Pastor Contact: Phone numbers to contact Pastor Wally and Pastor David are given on the front page of the Bulletin. When there is pastoral need, please contact either Pastor Wally or Pastor David and they will keep one another informed. The choice of which pastor you ring is entirely yours and there is no order of priority. Of greater priority is that you let a pastor know of any matters, especially when people are not well or when they are hospitalised. Lutheran Community Care (LCC) Christmas Hampers: As in previous years, generous help and support with our Christmas Hampers program is sought from supporting congregations. Each year we ask each congregation to donate a specific food item for our hampers and this year, the list is as follows: Strait Gate Holy Trinity Neukirch Ebenezer Dutton Truro Stockwell Immanuel LP Christmas lollies/chips Jam/Honey/Vegemite/Peanut paste Tinned ham Tinned ham Long-life milk Christmas puddings/long-life custard Pasta/Rice Coffee/Tea/Milo/Sugar LCC asks that all donated goods be delivered by Monday 3rd December Christmas Stamps for Missions: A reminder that this project is still continuing and producing great results for missions. This is the time of the year when we all receive Christmas cards. If you can save your stamps from the envelopes, cut them out, including the post mark if it is clear, and put them in a box at your church. If there is no box, perhaps you can organize one. Messages of Hope - previously Face to Face In the Barossa area, the program is broadcast on Triple B FM 89.1 on Monday mornings at 10:45 am. It is also available on Flow FM 99.5 on Sundays at 7:00 pm. 10 Movie Screening: Sunday 9th December at Ebenezer Hall at 4.00 pm. The Star is the story of a small but brave donkey named Bo, who yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the mill. One day he finds the courage to break free and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a loveable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wise-cracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told - the first Christmas. Movie Time: Sunday 9th December, get yourself and your family into the Christmas spirit. There will be two movies shown at Holy Trinity Church Hall in Nuriootpa on this day. At 2.00 pm we will be showing The Star. See the description above. Rated G this movie will delight viewers of all ages especially good for children. At 7.00 pm come and enjoy the movie Christmas Angel. Christmas Angel is the story of a young girls dream for her wish to have a complete family come true. While working on a class assignment to write a paper on "My Impossible Christmas Wish", Olivia Mead quickly takes note of unusual happenings. As her wishes come true, she is convinced the miracles are linked to a mysterious woman she believes is an angel. You can enjoy either of these movies for just $5 which gets you popcorn and a drink as well as a great movie. Bring your friends and family! We look forward to celebrating Christmas with you! Based on the 6 essen al strategies to help young people discover and love your church outlined in the book Growing young, co-authored by Jake Mulder who is the guest speaker. Churches are encouraged to a end as a group and develop the strategies that work for them following the conference. Don t miss it!
