Welcome to all who are worshipping today, especially any visitors who are with us Mark 4: A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, Teacher, don t you care if we drown? 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, Quiet! Be still! Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? 41 They were terrified and asked each other, Who is this? Leadership Quotes CELEBRATION OF THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION: In Holy Communion (the Lord s Supper), we receive, together with the bread and wine, the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, given and shed for us for the forgiveness of sins. Scripture urges us to receive the Sacrament worthily. Those who receive the Sacrament worthily are those who are baptised, repent of their sin, trust in Jesus Christ as their only Saviour, believe in his real presence in the Sacrament and intend to lead a holy life in obedience to God s Word. In Holy Communion, we are united with Christ and with one another. By communing together, we say: We are one in our faith. We believe and confess the same things about Jesus Christ and his Supper. If you are not a member of the Lutheran Church and you have questions about attending the Lord s Supper, please arrange to speak to Pastor prior to attending.

Prayer of the Day: Let us pray for a calm mind. (brief silence) Almighty God, we thank you that you love and care for all your people. When storm-clouds loom and troubles threaten, bring peace and calm to us, because we know that everything is in your hands. We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Barossa North Parish Call Call Meeting: The call to this parish has been extended to Pastor John Gerhardy, currently chaplain at Lutheran Homes Incorporated at Glynde. We pray God s blessings on him as he considers this call. Parish NEXT WEEK: Office arrangements continue as normal on Thursdays, except for Thursday 12th July during General Pastors Conference. Notices can also be dropped in the letter box next to the office door. General Pastors s Conference: Tuesday 10th - Thursday 12 July 2018 at St Michael s Church, Hahandorf. Pastor Wally will be attending. LEAVE: Pastor David Freckelton is on leave from Tuesday 12th June till Wednesday 11th July Together with his wife Jo, they have travelled to Canada to visit their son and daughter-in-law. We wish them God s blessings as they travel and a safe return. Service Schedule: This meeting date is still to be finalised to work on the next three month service schedule, possibly extending to the following three months as well. Congregations have been asked to elect a worship committee representative. Confirmation Class 2018: Classes will continue as normal this Monday 25th June 2018 at Holy Trinity Hall at 4.00 pm. The class will conclude by 5.30 pm. Office hours: The view is that for the time being, volunteers will be encouraged to assist in the office. If you would like to do that, please speak to Pastor Wally or Pastor David. Generally, the office will be open and manned on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and on Friday mornings for Bulletin copying. Immanuel Tea: The former Immanuel Parish held an annual tea with a guest speaker as a fellowship evening and fundraiser. There is interest in continuing this event and currently we are looking for volunteers to help organise the evening, usually set later in the year. If anyone from the parish would like to be involved, please contact Rob Henzel or robhensel@barossaautogroup.com.au

5 Parish (cont.) Rosters: Those who are preparing rosters for such things as reading, cleaning, stewards, etc, are encouraged to a copy to the office. This will enable us to add the detail to the Bulletin each week. Any other service details, such as hymn numbers from Lay readers, should also be supplied to the office via . Bible Society: The local branch of the Bible Society is keen for all congregations to be represented. If you are interested, please see Pastor Wally or Pastor David. Strait Gate Hot Soup: Delicious warming soup will be served in the Strait Gate hall on the following Sundays - 8 th July, 12 th August..maybe one more Sunday pending the weather. Gold coin donation. All proceeds to Plas Prai Cambodia. Busy Bee at Strait Gate: Please note the change of date: Saturday 11th August from pm. The project this year is a full makeover of the Strait Gate cemetery. We will finish at 12:30 pm followed by a BBQ & refreshments. If you wish to help contact Ian Grosser on ianbgrosser@gmail.com for further details. Holy Trinity Bible Society Representative: With the passing of Pauline Henke, Holy Trinity Congregation does not have a representative on the Nuriootpa Branch of the Bible Society. If you would like to be involved, please let Pastor David know. Ebenezer/Neukirch Advance Notice: Women s Fellowship Anniversary Service: Sunday 5th August at 9.00 am at Ebenezer. Youth Anniversary Service: Sunday 12th August 2018 at am at Neukirch. Neukirch Israel & Jordan Holy Lands Presentation: TODAY you are invited to stay after the 10:30 am service to see and hear more about Jamie, Annaliese, Isabel and Ethan Nietschke s trip to Israel and Jordan. A light lunch featuring foods from that region will be available. Donations to support mission work appreciated. All welcome.

Bring knitted garments for Lutheran Community Care Emergency Relief. General Lutheran Community Care needs your Help Emergency Relief is a program that supports a large number of local families & individuals with food, bedding & toiletries. Each Month in your bulletin we will highlight 3 items we which are needed. We would love your support to replenish our pantry. Thank YOU for helping US to help OTHERS. All donations can be dropped off at your local church or 26 Second Street, Nuriootpa. For the month of JUNE we would love your support to replenish our pantry in Emergency Relief with: 2 minute Noodles; Chicken & Beef; Soap Lutheran Community Care is hosting a Longriders Blanket Run Winter Blues Saturday, 7th July Great Eastern Hotel, Littlehampton am coffee, bacon, eggs for $10 donation am depart. The Song Keepers is a film which tells of a Central Australian Aboriginal Women s Choir and its tour of Germany singing German Lutheran sacred hymns and baroque music passed down to them from their descendants and taught by German missionaries 140 years ago.
