To reload a card, visit and click the shop button in the top right corner. Then, you will find the business for which the gift card is for. Lets look at an example of Buffalo Wild Wings. If you place your cursor over Buffalo Wild Wings, you will find reload on the far right. Then, you will click the reload button where you will login to your account to fill out the card number, pin number if applicable, a name to save your card under, and click register card. The church will get 8% when the Buffalo Wild Wings card has been reloaded with an amount. Remember to use Scrip cards for vacation or birthday gift giving. Cards on hand right now in the church office are Applebee s, itunes, Bath & Body Works. Many other cards are also available by filling out a form in the office or online. Please note that there will not be Children s Church the months of July & August.

This may not surprise you but I am not a person who usually gets excited about Conferences. I don t really mind attending them, and I almost always come away thinking I m glad I was there.

I have been a pastor for 29 years and I have never attended a Jurisdictional Conference but I hope to this year.

Living Together In Unity Amid Diversity For Ministry. I like the theme this year as it states exactly what I believe is the reality for the Christian Church in today s world.

2 This may not surprise you but I am not a person who usually gets excited about Conferences. I don t really mind attending them, and I almost always come away thinking I m glad I was there. But this year something special is happening right in our back yard. The North Central Jurisdictional Conference will take place from July in Peoria, IL! I have been a pastor for 29 years and I have never attended a Jurisdictional Conference but I hope to this year. The Jurisdictional Conference is the event where our church elects new bishops and establishes their assignments. The above is the logo and the theme of this year s conference. Living Together In Unity Amid Diversity For Ministry. I like the theme this year as it states exactly what I believe is the reality for the Christian Church in today s world. If you haven t noticed there is a LOT of diversity in our community and our world today. My goodness we can t even decide how many bathrooms to have in our public buildings and whether we should include all the different types of people possible in the design of said restrooms. But here s the thing back in the beginning of the Christian movement there was a group that resisted including people who were different than them in their newly formed movement. The decision by some was to make everyone become Jewish if they wanted to follow Jesus Christ. However some of the apostles realized that this was not the way to go and a group led by the apostle Paul under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit began to openly accept and welcome the non-jewish, or gentile, folks. They were no longer required to get circumcised or to adhere to specific food laws. What they were required to do was to be believers in Jesus as their Lord. They accepted that Jesus was God in the flesh and they dedicated their lives to worshiping and following him. The church became much stronger not in spite of the diversity but rather BECAUSE of it. To me that is exactly the way it should still be looked at today. There will always need to be some principals and beliefs that we all hold and adhere to. But we should never seek to have everyone be like everyone in all things in order to be a part of our group. And for me if I get to be the one who picks what those united principals and beliefs are I will suggest that they start (and I believe end) with these two beliefs and practices. 1. We must love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. 2. We must love our neighbor as our self! So I do seek to embrace unity amid diversity doing ministry. And I plan to attend at least some of the Jurisdictional Conference this year. If you have an interest in attending let me know. We have been very busy at Grace Place. We are studying the life of David. David was the smallest of Jesse's family, yet God chose him over his much stronger and more handsome brothers to be King.

The children have made sheep and shepherd's staffs. We will be making a sling just like the one David used to kill the giant, Goliath.

God looks at the heart, not our outward appearance. We have learned that before David actually became king, he was a shepherd, and giant slayer, and the man after God's own heart. The children worked very hard on their picture frames for their dad's for Father's Day. Rogan Rexroat won the candy bar drawing this month. All of us at Grace Place are looking forward to an exciting July! Blessings, Miss Chris and the Grace Place Gang HEALING MINISTRY THE COMMUNION/PRAYER ROOM is open for use in various ways. 1. Every day it is open for prayer. 2. On the first Sunday of each month there will be someone from the Healing Team present in the room after FIRST SERVICE. 3. On every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month you may come to the room for private communion and prayer. Joyce Clark, Ray Clark and Chris Moore are available for those who would like to experience Healing Touch. If you would like to volunteer for an HT session, call Clark s for an appointment Penny Vaughn is also a part of the Healing Ministry Team but has chosen to be available for anyone who may just prefer to have Healing Prayer, rather than an HT session. Call to request prayer. A Place of Healing Before a Healing Touch session you can expect the following: 1. A time for explaining your reasons for seeking HT and any pertinent medical information. 2. A time to share your concerns for your present situation. 3. Talking about other more traditional ways you have sought help and how effective that has been. 4. Signing a Consent Form for treatment. During an HT session your Practitioner will do these steps: 1. Make you comfortable on the table. 2. Give a spoken prayer. 3. Work with your energy system by touching your head and extremities and otherwise working above your body. She will also be offering silent prayer during the length of a session (40min. to an hour.) Types of treatment vary with each client. 4. Playing quiet background music. 3

HT is very relaxing and provides a sense of wellbeing. The results of the session may process and bring relief or insights over a period of days or weeks. Bev Crede invites you to the Chapel for a time of Healing. ( ) COURTYARD ESTATES: On the 18th of June several church members joined the residents at Courtyard for the monthly worship service. Marlene Edwards played the piano for singing that was led by Linda Dean. Trevor Oetting gave the message about receiving the kingdom of God. As our intern this summer, Trevor has also been enjoying visiting with our church members who live there. SOMETHING NEW: The staff at Courtyard has extended an invitation for our senior members to join them for planned outings and other special events. This is exciting as they have a number of events each month. We just need to call a couple days ahead to let them know how many will be attending and also provide transportation in the event that their bus is filled. Some opportunities in July include: 8th - lunch out at Pizza Hut, 15th a trip to Tanners Orchard, 9:00 Henderson Country Library in Biggsville for a program about Monarch butterflies and a sack lunch, and on the 29th lunch at the Roseville Lanes (leaving Courtyard at 10:30). If you are interested in participating in any of these, please call Courtyard at or let me, Joyce Clark, know Courtyard also has a monthly birthday celebration that is open to the community - usually on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. It begins at 2:00. Before the party they do free health screenings including: glucose testing, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and oxygen saturation.. These are available to anyone who might want them. The third opportunity that Courtyard offers is the use of a room at their facility for open houses, meetings and/or games. This is provided without charge at this time. Just call their office to check availability and to have your event put on the calendar there. 4

5 PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY: Prayer for the church (open to all) is in the chapel every 9:30. Bible study (open to all women) is in the chapel every 10AM. We are in the book of Psalms. WOMEN'S MONDAY FELLOWSHIP BREAKFASTS: All women are invited to enjoy this time of food and fellowship. We meet each Monday at 9 AM at Maple City Restaurant. There is always room for more. EVENTS: June 9th was the recognition luncheon for members 80 and 80+ which was held at the Monmouth Country Club. It was an enjoyable time for those in attendance. The meal was delicious, decorations, music and brief fact sharing took everyone back to memories of life in the 1950"s. July 14 is our next Dream Team sponsored event. It is a trip to Bishop Hill. We will have lunch there (ordering from menu). The plan is to leave from the church around 10:00. There will be sign up sheets and more details in the near future. Be watching for them. SENIOR BOOK NOOK: Several years ago a "book nook" was placed in the main west hallway of the church. A notebook was there where you could sign your name and the title of what you were checking out. At first, many books were read. Lately books have not been signed out - most likely because we haven't changed what is available. That being said, you are invited to look at the books that are now there. If you find one that you like, please take it as it is yours to keep. Soon new titles will be available. Special thanks to those who have given books to provide for reading pleasure. Please remember to check for a book you might like to have as the current books will be removed in August. OPPORTUNITY: Weekly about 20 of our shut-in members receive a printed copy, or a CD, of the Sunday worship service. Also there are several who receive communion at their place of residence during the first week of each month. This ministry is important and a blessing to both the receiver and the ones who make deliveries and short visits. If there are any who are willing to participate, please let me know ( ) The good news is - you can choose the day and time that works for you - as well as how many you'd like to deliver. Reminder: There are still prayer crosses and prayer shawls in the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary. If you know someone who would appreciate one, please feel free to make a delivery. Joyce Clark Once again vacation bible school was a great success! We thank the Lutheran Church for joining with us. The children enjoyed the Diving Deeper into God s Word curriculum. The children learned so many new songs and enjoyed crafts, Bible study, games and snacks. Our mission for this year was the Backpack Program and we were able to raise $ We would like to thank all of our many volunteers and the people who donated items. We couldn t do this without you. Thank you again for making this a successful year. We love our church! SAVE! Plastic Caps/Lids for Montview Elementary School A member of the Colchester United Methodist Women is collecting plastic caps for Montview Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama---her daughter-in-law is librarian. The caps cannot contain any metal as they are melted down by a commercial company and made into plastic buckets. The company offers prizes for the schools that collect the greatest number of caps. Montview uses prize money for field trips and other activities that the school normally cannot afford. The school is an inner city school and like many schools, resources are very limited, so this is one way to help others and to recycle plastic caps that most recycling companies do not want. They appreciate any help. There is a container in the hallway across from the back office door if you would like to donate any plastic caps. The United Methodist Women say Thank You! "A huge thank-you goes to Bob McVey, who didn't hesitate a second when asked if he could build a holder for the two new candle lighter/extinguishers for the acolytes to use. We were able to trim all the bushes, pull weeds, edge, trim, mow, clean the window well, clean out the junk from the mechanical room and take it to the dump. Also we began scrapping, patching getting ready to paint by the stage and the handicap entrance on Broadway. The next work day is scheduled for Saturday, July 9 from 9:00 to noon. A list will be posted of the jobs we would like to complete that day. Thank you for your participation in our "pack-the-pew" mission during the month of June. All donations have been delivered to Jamieson Center. Sunday, July 10, will be our annual Mother-to-Mother bake/produce sale held during both church services. If you have baked goods or garden produce that you would like to donate for this project, just bring that morning. At this time we will also collect bags of diapers, and of course, cash is always welcome. Next mission breakfast will be Sunday, July 3, with donations going to STARS: school supplies. Looking ahead...august will host the annual Monmouth College walkout, so lots of cookies will be appreciated; September will be the Warren County Festival and we are looking for that special person to head up a parade entry to for our church.
