2 Gracious God, Forgive us for the division in our world. We would rather judge someone as other rather than get to know their story and realize what we might have in common. We spend our time condemning or defending rather than forgiving and loving. We confess this is true when it comes to race, to gender, to age, to economic situation, to sexual orientation, to theological differences, to political leanings. Forgive us, O God, for being known by what we are against rather than who we are for. While we strive to live by our convictions, remind us that all are your beloved children, made in your precious image. Guide us to be respectful even as we disagree. Guide us to reach out in ministry with our neighbors who are different. Guide us to continue to make disciples and be disciples who are known by your grace. Amen. Let us remember in prayer those grieving the loss of their loved one, and remember in thanksgiving the life and ministry of: Reverend Nancy Lou Newton Ratz, 73, passed away peacefully at her Springfield Township residence on July 12, She was an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church and a member of The Cincinnati Carvers Guild. Nancy served the West Ohio Conference United Methodist Churches of Seven Mile Charge, Pasco-Pemberton, Lindsey Trinity, Green Camp and Eden Chapel. She is survived by her three children, Lisa Shaffer, George Ratz III (Jennifer) & Kristen Yancey (Brian), by her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Thomas Jr. (Melissa), Rebecca, Logan, Ethan, Adam, Scott (Gabi), Dylan and Aaron, by her great grandchildren, Dillen, Conner, Brayden and Amelia. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 10:30 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Hamilton, 23 South Front St, Hamilton, Ohio with lunch following the service. Parking is available at the 23 Court Street lot. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, c/o Kristen Yancey, 1209 Cadillac Drive, Hamilton, Ohio
