CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO #SACKCLOTHANDASHES ON INSTAGRAM We are Catholic, faithful to the Magisterium and disgusted by the abuse and cover-ups that have plagued the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. We are heartsick over the victims of abuse in the state of Pennsylvania and all the other boys and girls, men and women who have been sexually abused by priests and further victimized by the bishops who covered up these crimes. We pray for justice for the victims and their families and communities. We believe in the Catholic Church, founded by Christ and sustained by the Eucharist. We are one body in Christ. As such, we invite you to join us in observing a forty day period of prayer and fasting as an act of reparation to God for these sins. From the feast of the Queenship of Mary on August 22, through the month of September, we will join our sorrow with Our Lady of Sorrows, and make daily sacrifices appropriate to our own circumstances for this intention. #SACKCLOTHANDASHES ADULT RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Why not join the adult class while your child is in PSR? Class is held at the Parish Center in the conference room. Program used is Beginning Apologetics series. Class will start with How to Answer Atheists & New Agers. Come join others for open discussion and sharing while learning how to defend the faith. No cost to attend. SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY NEWS The gospel today hits home closer than we may think. What traditions do we blindly cling to? Perhaps it is enough for us just to go to Mass on Sunday? Do we keep the letter of the law and miss entirely the spirit of the law. Interior righteousness means a heart turned to God. Purity of heart is expressed in righteous living: self-giving for the sake of others. As you give your gift to the poor through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in your heart you also will find the good news of God s love. Friends of the Poor Walk at the Cemetery September 22, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Food for Parishioners who participated to follow the end of the walk. St. Vincent de Paul is in need of new members. We meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month after 7:00 p.m. Mass. You are invited to come to our meetings and ask questions about us. There are many ways you can participate: We often get calls about furniture that people would like to donate. We don t have a place for storage at this time and it makes it difficult to say no. If there is an immediate need then we deliver to the family. If you have a place for us to store furniture or are able to help deliver, please let us know. If you would like to man the phones when a member isn t available or if you would like to make the calls to set up home visits. Please come and help us grow. ATTENTION, LECTORS AND CANTORS there will be a meeting in the church on Tuesday, September 4th at 7:30 p.m. following Mass. Attendance is strongly encouraged. Please notify the office if you will make it or not. Mary Lundberg and Patty Immell will be in attendance to discuss your roles with you. We will be going over changes to duties and methods of all liturgical ministers over the course of the month.
