1 Trinity Lutheran Church, ELCA God s Work/Our Hands Worship is at 9:00 a.m. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1 & 2 Sundays of the month. - There is a God-shaped hole in each of us that can only be filled by God. - There are many things that can divide a church today, yet many more that can unite us. - There are no good guys and no bad guys. There are just people saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. - We are one in Christ. Sunday School will be held every Sunday, except the first Sunday of the month. The Easter season of the church year ends on the Day of Pentecost which this year is June 4. The Day of Pentecost is when we remember the Holy Spirit, the form of tongues of fire, descending on the followers of Christ. The color of the day is red to symbolize and remember the tongues of fire. This red is to be different than the scarlet used during Holy Week to contrast the celebration of this day to the repentant nature of Holy Week. is May 14. God Bless Mothers. Philippians 4:19. GOD S WORD Translation (GW). My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus. The New Richland American Legion Memorial Day program will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on May 29 at 11:00 AM. A chicken dinner will be served by the New Richland Auxiliary after the program. Adults $ Children 10 and under $5.00.
2 2 Those graduating are: I would like to invite all of our graduates to bring to church a copy of their senior photo, so that we can display them for everyone to see. As a church family we want to celebrate this big milestone with them. As a part of their celebration, each senior will receive a quilt from the quilters of the congregation as a blessing for the next part of their faith journey. May 21, 7:00 PM NRHEG High School Gym June 4, 2:00 p.m. NRHEG high school gym Saturday, May 13, 7:30 a.m. Please contact Pastor Paul so he knows how much food to order for the Red Leaf Cafe. Great marriages don t just happen. Couples create them! Pastor Paul and Rhonda have attended a weekend. For more information contact them. Or go to July 21-23, 2017 Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, MN. Southern Minnesota TEC welcomes anyone, regardless of religious affiliation, to attend a TEC weekend. TEC encourages teens to enrich their faith through relationships, Bible Studies, and being a leader in their church. Go to southerntec.org. Register with Pastor Paul. Devin Buendorf has gone to one. Pastor Paul has attended 2 TEC weekends. Grades 3-6 meets Wednesdays, after school at the church. Come for treats, games, and devotions. The last day of FISH will be May 31. The quilters meet on Mondays at 8:30 a.m. Talk to Barb Solberg or Pam Goehring about this ministry. More hands are always welcome. Can you guess how many quilts have been made by the Trinity quilters since they group started in the 1930 s? Trinity quilters gather Monday morning (8:30-noon) to rip, cut, tie and sew quilts. Finished quilts are given to Lutheran World Relief, NRHEG high school (Trinity) graduates, NR Area Food shelf, Waseca Area Neighborhood Center, and to anyone who is in need of warmth and comfort. Please join us you don t need to have previous experience quilting, you don t need to know how to sew we have a job for everyone!! Please join us! And if the time doesn t work for you, we have jobs you can do at home!! Talk to one of us and we can get you started. Another way to support our ministry is by donating bedding you no longer use. Or, if you frequent garage sales or thrift shops, pick up some sheets for us. We prefer flat sheets any size. We ask that they be clean, but they don t have to be in perfect condition. We also appreciate donations to the Quilting Fund to buy our supplies. Thank you! And we hope to see you soon. Barb Finseth, Barb Solberg and Barb Wildgrube, Larry Goehring, Peggy Borchard, Blossom Stennes, Avis Rugroden, Donna Hedman, and Pam Goehring. It's not too late to sign up for summer camp at Good Earth Village! Trinity provides a $50 scholarship for each camper. (Other scholarships are availablecome talk to Pastor Paul.) Trinity youth are free to go any week and to any program. How close were you in guessing the number of quilts made? 14,553 as of May Quilts made May 2016-May 2017 will be counted May 20.
3 Trinity Lutheran Church high school graduates who continue their education will get a $ scholarship from the Harold and Bonita Ackman Scholarship Fund. This is a one time gift. It will be given to the person after their completion of their first semester in school. Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits Pastor Paul would like to thank each and everyone for the generous support given to the personal care kits. On May 3 F.I.S.H. packed 25 kits. When LWR distributes Personal Care Kits, it s often to people who have lost everything. In the wake of an earthquake, or having fled from violence as their homes were overtaken, they clasp a towel from a faraway place, with a bar of soap, a toothbrush and washing up, they know that they have not been forsaken by the world. The very simple gesture of giving a Personal Care Kit can give someone the encouragement to start anew, starting with a bath. You can share God s grace and love by providing that simple comfort. I am the PIPP Manager (Performance-based Incentive Payment Program) at the New Richland Care Center. I work with all residents, however, my main focus is on residents with dementia or cognitive impairments. Presently, we are working to get our residents with dementia off anti psychotic medications. I was wondering if you could put in your Sunday bulletin the enclosed message. We would like to have volunteers so that we can have smaller groups to assist us in our endeavor. Thank you for all that you do for the Center Respectively, Sandy Hart PIPP Manager New Richland Care Center Phone: Ext. 311 Fax: shart@nrcarecenter.com THANK YOU 2017 Easter Garden Memorials Trinity Lutheran would like to thank the following members who placed Easter Lilies for our Easter Garden this year: Roger Solberg and Joell Quiram, given by Doc & Joanne Phillips, and Kathy Solberg. Carol Battenfeld and Linda Spooner, given by Bob Battenfeld. Stan Getskow, given by Helen. Gene and Sylvia Dodge, given by Mary Berg. Margaret Halgren, Peggy Reese Uecher and Carol Reese, given by the Halgren family. Christopher Matthies, given by David and Diane. Dick and Isabel Frisk, given by Harlan and Carol Schlaak. Virginia Peterson, given by Vince Peterson. I wish to encourage all members of Trinity to call me directly at home or on my cell phone if you are in need of a pastoral call. Remember, I am only a phone call away. I also encourage all members to make use of our congregational Prayer Chain. We are all here to serve in the name of our Lord Jesus. These prayer laps are given to members who are homebound or anyone who needs the comfort of prayer. Contact Pastor Paul if you know someone who could benefit from a mantle of love on their lap.
