Planning is underway in the areas of Preschool and Children's Sunday School, Youth Sunday School, Publicity, Communication, Greeters, and Logistics. Preschool and Children's Sunday School: In June, Jo Ann Stancil and Martha Harmening met to determine the needs for preschool and children's Sunday School classes. They evaluated which children would be assigned to which track based on the track assignment of their parents and the numbers of children in each age or grade level. Preschool Sunday School Directors and the Children's Sunday School Leadership Team members have begun to recruit Sunday School teachers for the preschool and children's divisions based on these numbers. Youth Sunday School: Jo Ann Stancil met with the Youth Council to determine whether to leave middle schoolers with their parents and offer Sunday School during both tracks or whether to move all youth to Track 2 (9:30 Worship and 11:00 Sunday School). Youth Council voted to move all youth to Track 2. Sunday School Teacher Training for Children/Preschool Teachers: Jo Ann Stancil and members of the Preschool and Children's Sunday School Leadership team are planning to hold teacher training for preschool and children's Sunday School teachers (continuing and new teachers) in August. Publicity: Steve Debevec is coordinating a series of skits (July and August) and a children's sermon (June) to announce the start of DSS. Throughout the summer months, posters, special 3-D art, and inside and outside banners will begin to appear around the church. Communication: Patti Soule is coordinating a series of direct mailings to families. These mailings will include information on track assignments and Sunday School room assignments. Additionally, Johnna Matthews is working on updating the Sunday School brochure that we provide to guests.

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 2 Logistics: Large flags have been ordered to help direct people to appropriate parking in the parking lots. The lot outside the fellowship hall will be designated as guest and handicapped parking, along with assisted parking areas for the elderly and families with babies and small children. Greeter Team: Jo Ann Stancil met with the Greeter Team to decide locations and times when greeters are needed and to determine which current greeters are available during which times. Jo Ann is working to enlist 10 additional greeters, and Dr. Slater is also working to enlist a new Greeter Captain. Anyone interested in these positions should contact Jo Ann Stancil. Library Team: Jo Ann Stancil met with the Library Team to ask that the library be open at the end of each worship service. Missions Council During the 2nd Quarter of 2016, Wake Forest Baptist Church Missions has been very busy as follows:

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 7 Good Neighbor Ministry Serving about 120 hot dogs just the way they are wanted every Saturday in the Northwest part of Wake Forest. During late spring, summer, and fall, fresh veggies from the Community Garden are available as well. Building relationships with the community surrounding Taylor Street Park. In 2016, we are in our 12 th Year for this ministry, during which we have provided over 52,000 Hot Dogs. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle So far in 2016, 295 volunteers have distributed food to 571 households with 1,728 individuals. (This compares to 2015's 900 Households with 2,600 Individuals.) We also provided food from the Community Garden during this quarter. We have assisted 17,500 Individuals over the past five years. Mobile Food Trailer During this quarter, the Missions Council used the Mobile Food Trailer to provide six fresh meals at the Taylor Street Park. Every second and fourth Wednesday each month, we provide a fresh meal at the park and serve 80+ people each time in the community. We will continue to expand this ministry and look for opportunities to serve in other parts of Wake County. Community Garden During this quarter, the double size garden has flourished. We recently had a single Saturday wherein we harvested 500 pounds of produce. Having a second operational water supply is very helpful. In 2015, we harvested over 4,500 pounds of food that was provided to the Good Neighbor Ministry, Bunn Soup Kitchen and Inter Faith Food Shuttle. As of June, 2016, we've harvested over 10,000 pounds of produce since we started the Garden in August The Garden is located behind the church house. The team meets every Saturday from 9-12pm. We have had over 170 volunteers participating who have donated over 3400 man-hours...including several community members from outside of WFBC. A local community member donated a bee hive to the garden which will greatly help the growth of the Garden, and combined with other hives will produce Honey that has been approved for sale to our church and community. We also added an irrigation system to help keep the garden watered. We continue to seek grants to build a green house.

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 8 Quilting Ministry The Quilting ministry is meeting weekly and averages about 15 quilters at each meeting. They have completed the Uganda Quilts and the South Carolina Mission Trip Quilts, and are continuing to work on quilts to go to other ministries. The quilting ministry sent 15 quilts, 80 tote bags and 14 pair of curtains to Uganda. The curtains are for their new guest house and the bags are for teachers and students. Disaster Relief Several years ago, WFBC received a donation from the Wake Forest Community Response team to purchase a trailer for the WFBC Disaster Relief Team. We have also purchased some safety equipment for our volunteers. We currently have 16 Individuals certified through the NC Baptist

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 9 Men Disaster Relief Program. The trailer has been registered with the NC Baptist Men. During this quarter: Extensive repair work on Henrietta Castles ramp (Ken Barber, Pete Newton, Tommy Killebrew, and Neal Peyton); April 1 &2, DR Training completed by Emily Killebrew (Recovery) and Tommy Killebrew (Recovery recertification and Assessment); May 6 & 7, Disaster Relief Training at Caraway Conference Center. (Neal attended and updated his certificate and helped interpret for 19 deaf men and women): May 9, Pete Newton and Neal Peyton installed a new ceiling fan at Henrietta s home; on June 11 we built a handicap ramp for Mr. John Siry at the request of NCBM S office (Tommy Killebrew headed the team with Neal Peyton and Derward Baker, and three other men from Derward's church in Raleigh); May 2, Ed Stancil, Pete Newton, Dave Shannon, and Neal Peyton cut down and hauled off the debris from a diseased Dogwood tree in the church parking lot. Stop Hunger Now We held a Stop Hunger Now in May 2016 and celebrated hitting the 100,000 meals packaged benchmark. The next Stop Hunger Now event will be held in September, This continues to be a very successful and satisfying inter-generational service activity for all our congregation and friends. The Ministry Matters program is a new Missions Council initiative that will minister to those individuals that now reside, permanently or temporarily, in our area rest homes, assisted living facilities, and short/long term care facilities. The ministry would include individual and personal visits, group crafting, music and sharing God s Word in various settings. The Deaf Ministry The Deaf Sunday school class led in hosting a church-wide pounding for the Parks family. They are deaf missionaries who have returned from Thailand back to our area for the summer. Our deaf class is continuing to meet for Bible studies, socials and times of outreach during the summer.

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 1 0 We had a guest interpreter fill in during worship on June 19 while our regular interpreters were away. Congregational Health Congregational Health Ministry is meeting with new members in June to restart its team ministry. Health and safety issues have increased to the point that we need to collaborate now vs. waiting until the fall. We have about 8 new members interested from the missions fair. Several care teams are underway. The Relay for Life is an annual effort of the Congregational Health Ministries at WFBC. This ministry focuses on celebrating cancer survivors, mourning cancer victims, and informing everyone about cancer prevention, treatments, research, development, etc. The 2016 Relay for Life event was held at the WFBC Stephenson Center on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. For six months each year, our team raises money to help fund the fight against cancer. This year our team raised $5,315 and the entire event raised about $33,500.

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 1 1 Music and Arts Council The Second Quarter of 2016 was an exceptionally busy and significant time of ministry and milestones for the WFBC Music Ministry. All of the Music Ministry Ensembles maintained regular rehearsal and worship leadership schedules in addition to the following ministries: The Chancel Choir provided leadership for the annual Spring Renewal service hosted by WFBC. The Adult Ensemble, Advanced Handbells and Men s Chorus presented the second Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs worship concert which was well attended and well received. The Senior Adult Choir shared the musical, Our Father s World in four performances at area skilled care and retirement facilities. The end of the year program for Preschool Choir and Kairos Ministry included choral selections, African Drumming, Puppets, Choir Chimes and Orff instruments. The Youth Choir, Youth Instrumental Ensemble and Praise Band participated in the Youth Music Mission Trip to Wilmington, NC. Ministry opportunities included worship leadership, work in a community garden and serving a pancake breakfast to the homeless (with concert). The Youth Choir also performed for the Wake Forest High School Baccalaureate Service held at our church. Additionally, a Praise Band involving youth and adult musicians was created for VBS and led effectively each night. The final Virginia Tull concert of the season was held in May as we hosted the Raleigh Boy Choir. The Virginia Tull committee is actively seeking ways to make the concert series more financially stable as we make preparation for season. Summer Music Explo sessions were announced and begun. Offerings include: Music with Babies, Music with Toddlers, Music with Preschoolers, Puppets and Orff/Percussion. Summer Choir is involving Chancel Choir, Youth Choir and new singers. Additionally, a walk-on Men s Choir and Ladies Choir led in worship in June. Plans for addressing the needs of Dual Worship were completed this quarter and communication of those plans with the music ministry participants and church as a whole has begun. The Chancel Choir will provide music for both services beginning September 18. To encourage increased participation a second Chancel Choir rehearsal will be offered on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM beginning September 11. Singers can attend either rehearsal and sing in either service as needed. Lay leaders will assume leadership of the Advanced Handbells and some adjustments to the Sunday evening rehearsal schedules are being made. After many years of faithful service and leadership, Cathy Wallace is completing her service as Music Ministry Council Chair. Cathy has been an incredible model of God s grace and love as she has provided guidance, insight, organization and leadership for the WFBC Music Ministry. She will be missed!! The most significant event of the second quarter was the completion of the Pipe Organ Renovation by Lincoln Pipe Organ, Inc. and the subsequent Organ and Hymnal Dedication Service on May 22. The Children s Choir, Youth Choir, Chancel Choir and Advanced Handbells all shared in leadership of this wonderful day of celebration. Five hundred thirty-five (535) copies of the Celebrating Grace Hymnal were dedicated to God s glory. Dr. Jeanine Skinner and Lisa Moxley provided exceptional

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 1 2 music from the organ and piano. It was a wonderful celebration of God s grace and goodness as we dedicated to God the new hymnals and the newly rebuilt pipe organ. Outreach Council The Outreach team plus many helpers enjoyed a wonderful day at the Town of Wake Forest Meet in the Street event in May. Rob James was the main event with his balloon animal talents. Also a special thank you to Angie Pearce who made goodie bags that WFBC handed out to people we met during the day. The WFBC softball team has been having a great season in the Town of Wake Forest Adult church league with a 10-2 record. Official standings -> 16/church-mens/standings/june_24.html

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 1 3 We have had great participation with the New Member orientation class as the church has welcomed many new members. This is an orientation that is held for new members that provides a brief overview of our church organization and leadership council, as well as information about adult activities, youth and children s ministries, and our diaconate teams. It is a great way to learn about WFBC and connect with other new members. Please contact Paula Goodson <paula1@nc.rr.com> for additional information. Welcome Center continues to be staffed faithfully at both worship services. A special thank you to Sabra Ivey and Janice Ishikawa who have joined the Outreach team to help serve. Worship Council Youth Council Disciple Now 2015: Follower April 8-10 This year s Disciple Now weekend was amazing. Our youth were joined by college students from Gardner-Webb University and Hampden-Sydney College. Our Speaker was Adam Fitzgerald and our Worship Leader was Bryan Mears. Our T-Shirts were designed by Lydia Brown. Our theme was Act. Love. Walk. We focused on the things the Lord requires of us: To Act Justly towards others, Love Mercy regardless of who deserves it, and to Walk Humbly with our God. This powerful weekend consisted of Worship, small group studies and Mission work for Habitat for Humanity, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, helping an elderly neighbor with yard work, Stop Hunger Now, and helping at 1 st Baptist Church of Raleigh s Clothing Ministry. This weekend was wonderful, and only possible because of the tireless effort of Terri Hart and all of our volunteers. We had 4 youth come forward making their profession of faith to be baptized as a result of this weekend. Youth Sunday (DNow Sunday) April 10 Youth Sunday was a wonderful experience of worship and Bible Study. Our worship service was led by our youth and Joe Renn and Brooks Hill gave the sermon. Our youth also taught our adult Sunday School classes, (every single one of them for the first time) helping the adult members of our congregation share in what they learned during the Disciple Now Weekend. Youth Variety Show April 30 This year s Variety Show helped to raise money and awareness of our two upcoming youth mission trips: The Youth Music Mission Trip to Wilmington, NC and the Summer Mission Trip to Columbia, SC. The fellowship hall was full as we enjoyed food (thanks to Ms. Byron and her team) and the talents of our youth.

[WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SECOND QUARTER 2016 COUNCIL REPORTS] 1 4 Wake Forest High School Baccalaureate Service June 5 For the third year in a row our church hosted the Baccalaureate Service for Wake Forest High School. This Christian worship service brings together churches in our community to thank God for the accomplishments of our seniors. Dr. Holloway offered the sermon and the WFBC Youth Choir sang. Thanks to Lee Perry for organizing this year s Baccalaureate Service. Graduate Recognition Sunday June 5 This year s graduate recognition Sunday was a wonderful time of worship as a church family. Hunter Smith, Brooks Hill, and Becca Perry gave the sermon. During the 11:00 worship services it was announced that Taylor Goodson was this year s recipient of the Hallie Coppedge Memorial Scholarship and that Lydia Brown was this year s recipient of the Dana Jordan Memorial Scholarship. Farewell Reception for Rob James June 12 The youth council hosted a reception for Rob James and his family. Rob is going to be the Senior Minister at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville. Rob was presented with a picture of youth trips, signed by the youth, and a print of the stained glass in the dome. Thank you to Rob for his leadership and impact he has made on our church. ICHTHUS ICHTHUS has continued to be a wonderful way to educate and empower our 5 th and 6 th graders. We finished this year with our end of the year party out at the Stephenson Pavilion. As always, our theme scripture for ICHTHUS is: Mathew 4:19 And he said to them: Follow me and I will teach you to fish for people.
