1 Remembering James (Jim) Maloney Aunt Madeline, Nicole and Matt, words cannot express my shock and sadness when I heard the news this morning. I have many fond memories of Uncle Jim...he was a big part of my childhood and I will remember him always. My deepest condolences to all of you at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Uncle Jim. He was a fine, fine man and I, like all the family, have many fond memories of him. Anytime I was in the area I always looked forward to driving up the lane to see you all. That s the effect Jim Maloney had on anyone who met him. I think back to the 1977 trip to P.E.I., squid jigging on his boat in the harbour in 1978 with a cast on my broken left ankle, driving to Holyrood with him when I was just a boy in the big white Monaco, and hours and hours of playing Scat at the kitchen table. At Uncle Jim s and Aunt Madeline s they always wanted to you to visit and never wanted you to leave. Requiescat in Pace, Uncle Jim, or as dad would have called you, Maloney. 7 Dear Madeline, Nicole, Matt, Roger, Lori-Jo, Kristin, Zane, and Thomas, We are deeply saddened to hear of our lovely Uncle Jimmy's passing yesterday. What a privilege to have dined outdoors with the Maloneys and shared Jigg's dinners twice at their home (including my first Jigg's dinner ever) on our recent visits to Holyrood; happy delicious meals, with family and friends. Memories of Jimmy include a boat ride in the Holyrood harbour during which we spotted a bald eagle, my wee Violet playing in the driveway in Jimmy's new car, sitting outside for lunch in Upper Island Cove with Jimmy, Madeline, and Dad before filming everyone in animals masks, watching Jimmy and Matt clean fish at night in the garage, and fireside late night chats between the houses years ago. I was reminded by my mother of cross country skiing with Jimmy in Winnipeg a million years ago, and foggier sweet memories of childhood visits to Holyrood - boat rides and blueberry picking, playing in and out of Nan's house, and all the uncles and aunts enjoying the merriment of life. Jimmy was a quiet, kind, funny, and sweet man - much loved and clearly (from the outpouring of love on this page) greatly missed already.
