2 The purpose of this activity: This activity will get your kids into their Bibles and help them review the Bible Verse for the week. Description: The children will decode the reference for this week s Bible Verse using the Bible Formula Table. Then they will look up the verse using the reference. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need copies of Lesson 2 Bible Formula Table and writing or coloring instruments for each child in your group. To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. A chemical formula tells scientists how something is made. 2. Today we have our own formula to solve. 3. Let s see if we can solve this formula using the Bible Formula Table. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD. During the activity, say the following: 1. Try to solve the formula before the other team. 2. The team to solve the formula first wins the round 3. I will help you if you are stuck. Bible Verse: Acts 10:34b I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. After the activity, say the following: 1. Today s Bible Verse tells us that God does not show favoritism. 2. Remember this week that the Bible teaches us that we should show no favoritism and love everyone Fellowship Church

3 The purpose of this activity: The purpose of this activity is to demonstrate that God brings all people together even though we re different, so that we can make something good. Description: The teacher will demonstrate for the children a science experiment that shows that God can help us be together even when we are different. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need a stopwatch, three containers or test tubes (at least one must be shake-able with a secure lid), cooking oil (1-2 ml), water (fill containers about half full), and egg yolk (10 drops). Note: This activity can be done with one set of materials for the teacher only, or with a set of materials for each child. If children handle any of the ingredients, be sure to allow them to wash their hands afterward. To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. Have you ever heard the saying, Birds of a feather flock together.? 2. That means that people and things that are alike will stay together and not mix with others. 3. God loves all of us and He wants us to mix, even though we are different. 4. An emulsion is when scientists mix two ingredients that normally don t mix. 5. We are going to make an emulsion today. 6. I have a container of oil and a container of water. 7. Watch what happens when I put them together. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD. During the activity, say the following: 1. They don t mix do they? (No) 2. Let s use the stopwatch to time how long they stay together if we shake them up. 3. That wasn t too long. 4. I m going to add a little egg yolk to the mix. 5. Let s see how long it stays together now. 6. Which was longer? With egg yolk or without? (With) 2007 Fellowship Church

4 After the activity, say the following: 1. We use emulsions to make some pretty cool things. 2. Who likes to paint with tempera paints? Artists make Tempera paints using oil and water mixed with egg yolk. 3. Who likes to eat cake? Or meringue pies? Those are also emulsions. 4. We are all different from each other, like the oil and water. 5. But God can help us mix together like the egg yolk helped mix the oil and water. 6. Together with God, all of our differences can do some very cool things. Summary: Even though we are all different, through God we can all work together to make something good.

5 The purpose of this activity: The purpose of this activity is to teach the children that they can show love to others by including them in what they are doing. Description: A group of children who have something in common will form a circle. The other children will try to get into the circle while the group tries to keep them out. Materials Needed: For this activity you need this help sheet and a whistle. To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. We are going to play a game where we get in a circle based on things we have in common. 2. If I say something that you have done or that describes you, you will get in the circle and hold hands facing out. 3. When I whistle I want the rest of you to try to get to the center of the circle. 4. When someone reaches the inner circle, we will stop and play again. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the DVD. Note: Call out things like: Who has blue jeans on, Who has long hair, Who has flown in an airplane, Who has blue eyes, Who has gone on a fishing trip, Who likes (choose a local sports team) etc During the activity, say the following: 1. Good job That was really fast 2. Let s try it again. After the activity, say the following: 1. How did you feel when you were included in the inner circle? (Good, part of the group) 2. How did you feel when you were not included? (Bad, excluded) 3. When have you felt not included in real life? Share how that feels. 4. When have you not included others? 5. How do you think they felt? (Bad) Summary: God loves everyone and so should we. One way to put that into practice is to always include others in what we are doing Fellowship Church

6 The purpose of this activity: This is a strategic time to review and reinforce the content of the lesson. Materials Needed: DVD chapter Experiments With Dr. Oppenheimerstein lesson 2. To introduce this activity: Ask the following questions and ask for volunteers to answer. If they answer correctly, hit next on the DVD. 1. How can you show love to others who are different from you? A. Hang out with them as long as no one else is watching. B. Avoid them. C. Talk with them and help them if they need it. D. Try to make them laugh by making fun of them. 2. Why should we love and respect people who are different from us? A. Because we ll have more friends. B. Because someone has to. C. Because God made everyone different and loves everyone. D. We shouldn t love and respect them. 3. Which of these is NOT a way we can show love to people who are different? A. Hang out with them. B. Be nice to them. C. Sit with them at lunch. D. Make fun of them. 4. In the skit, what was Dr. Oppenheimerstein trying to invent? A. A way to make everyone exactly like Dr. Oppenheimerstein. B. A way to make people do anything. C. A shrink ray. D.
