Bible Lesson: Jesus Death and Resurrection (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) Bible Verse: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 (NLT) Particle Attraction (Opening Activity) This activity will reinforce the theme of the series and will engage the children s attention as they enter the room. Can You Get There (Alternate Opening Activity) This activity will introduce the children to the fact that Jesus takes our sins away. Skit And Bible Lesson (Large Group Activity) The children will learn that Jesus takes our sins away by taking the punishment for our sins. Bible Formula (Small Group Activity) This activity will get the children into their Bibles and help them review the Bible Verse for the week. Science Journal (Small Group Activity) This activity will help the children review the Main Point, Bible Lesson and Bible Verse. I ll Fly Away (Small Group Activity) This object lesson will illustrate how sin keeps us from Heaven but Jesus can take our sins away. Iodine And Water (Small Group Activity) This object lesson will help the children visualize that Jesus takes their sins away. Story Time (Small Group Activity) This activity will illustrate that Jesus loves us so much that He took the punishment for our sins. Erase Our Sin (Small Group Activity) This activity will visually illustrate that only Jesus can take our sins away. Experiments With Dr. Oppenheimerstein (Review Activity) This activity is a strategic time to review and reinforce the content of the lesson Elevate
2 Particle Attraction OPENING ACTIVITY LESSON 6 Purpose: This activity will reinforce the theme of the series and will engage the children s attention as they enter the room. Description: One child will toss particles (ping pong balls) to another child who is holding a Velcro disc. Each of the particles has Velcro on it which will cause it to stick to the disc. Whichever team gets the most particles on the Velcro disc by the end of the time allotted, is the winner. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this Help Sheet, three to six Velcro Ball and Catch Game Discs, a bucket filled with ping pong balls that have been wrapped in sticky Velcro, and the Opening Activity media elements from the Lesson 6 MediaShout or ProPresenter File. Note: Play the Doors Open Music when the children begin to enter the room. To introduce this activity, say the following: Let s get started! This activity is called Particle Attraction. We are going to have two volunteers from each team come up on stage. One of you will hold this disc, and the other will toss particles, or ping pong balls, and try to get them to stick to the disc. 5. It is your job to get as many particles on your disc as you can. 6. We are going to time you. The team that has the most particles on their disc at the end of the time frame, will be the winner. Note: Choose two volunteers from each team. One to hold the disc and the other to toss the particles. You can make the time frame for each round of this activity as long or as short as you would like. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the Teacher/Co-Teacher Training Video. During the activity, say the following: 1. Are you ready? Kids, are you ready to cheer for your teammates? Okay! 2. Ready, Set, Go! Note: Play the Game Go Music Keep going! You only have 10 more seconds. Kids, keep cheering. Great job! Now it s time for us to pick new volunteers and play again. Note: Reset the game and continue playing with new volunteers from each team until it is time to start your children s worship hour. After the activity, say the following: 1. Great job with that game! 2. Let s get ready for our countdown to Adventures In Science! Elevate
3 Alternate Opening Activity: Purpose: This activity will introduce the children to the fact that Jesus takes our sins away. Description: The children will play a game that is impossible to win until the teacher takes away their deck of cards and gives them a new deck. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this Help Sheet and the Can You Get There Board Game from the Lesson Materials Folder. To introduce this activity, say the following: 1. We are going to play a board game called Can You Get There?. 2. You will use these cards and I will use these. 3. You go first. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the Training Video. During the activity, say the following: 1. Oh, that s too bad. 2. I don t think you will ever win using your cards. 3. I can take your cards away and let you use mine to win the game. 4. Do you want me to do that for you? After the activity, say the following: 1. Could you get to the end using your cards? (No.) 2. There was no way to win the game with your cards. 3. I had to take away your cards and give you mine so that you could get to the end. Summary: None of us can get to Heaven with our sins. We need Jesus to help us. In the game, I took your cards away so that you could win. When we ask Him to, Jesus takes our sins away so that we can go to Heaven Elevate

7 Density Stack SCIENCE EXPERIMENT LESSON 6 Purpose: This activity will add a fun element to the service and will engage the children s attention. Description: The children will watch an engaging experiment conducted by the Teacher and CoTeacher to capture the children s attention and imagination. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this Help Sheet, two safety goggles, one large glass, one funnel, two ounces of maple syrup, two ounces of milk, two ounces of dishwashing soap, two colors of food coloring, two ounces of colored water (use first color of food coloring), two ounces of vegetable oil, two ounces of colored rubbing alcohol (use second color of food coloring), and one table to perform the experiment on. To introduce this activity at the beginning of service, say the following: 1. Today s experiment is called Density Stack. 2. I m going to pour this in here and mix it up...perfect. Note: At the beginning of service the Teacher will come out from backstage whistling. Pour some red food coloring (or any color) in the cup of water. Pour some blue food coloring (or any different color from the first color) in the cup with rubbing alcohol. Once the Teacher has prepared the experiment, the Co-Teacher will enter and service will officially begin. For detailed instructions on how to do this activity, see the Teacher/Co-Teacher Training Video. During the activity in the middle of service, say the following: 1. It s almost time to do our next activity but before we do, let s take a look at today s Science Experiment. 2. Let s put our safety goggles on. 3. We re going to take several common objects and mix them together: syrup, milk, dishwashing soap, water, vegetable oil, and rubbing alcohol. 4. Look at all of the different layers in this density stack! The different liquids do not mix. Note: Pour maple syrup into the bottom of the glass. Using the funnel, slowly add the milk. Pour in the dishwashing soap. Using the funnel, add the colored water to the glass. Then add the vegetable oil. Finally, using the funnel, add the colored rubbing alcohol. After the activity, say the following: Now it is time for our next activity! Elevate

Single Teacher Digital Media Script WATCHING THE BIBLE LESSON AND SKIT ON VIDEO Purpose Statement: The children will learn that Jesus takes our sins away by taking the punishment for our sins. Materials/Props Needed: Adventures In Science Lesson 6 MediaShout or ProPresenter File. Costume (Teacher: Lab coat and safety goggles.) Props: One clipboard. Opening Activity Supplies: See the Help Sheet for a list of supplies. Science Experiment Supplies: See the Help Sheet for a list of supplies. Begin the Opening Activity. Lead the children through the Opening Activity Particle Attraction, or another Large Group Activity to engage the children s attention as they enter the room. For a detailed example, watch the Adventures In Science L6 Teacher/Co- Teacher Training Video. Begin Large Group Time with the Countdown Video. [1] TallyHoAsTallyDoes kids! Everything going well for you this week? (allows children to respond) Say, another great looking class we have here today! #1 Almost done here, just one second...okay! Thanks for coming everyone! I m Professor (Teacher s name)! And this is AIS Laboratories. A place of research and development where we look at the miracles and mysteries of the Bible. It s also where we do research just down the hall from the illustrious Dr. Oppenheimerstein and his robot Flask. Dr. Opp is a brilliant scientist trying to win the famous Plutonium Award! He sure hasn t had a lot of success lately...but maybe today, although I doubt it. Today we have something VERY important to talk about, but before we do it s important in our lab to remember that we have lots of items we need to be careful around. Because of that, we have some very important rules that all of us need to follow. [2] The first is that everyone must stay in their seat at all times, unless we tell you that you can get up! [3] The second is that there should be no talking while we are up here on the AIS stage. #2 #3 [4] The third is be sure to keep your hands to yourselves. # Elevate
9 [5] And the fourth is to participate and have fun! And in order to begin having that, everybody stand up and help me kick off our time in the Adventures In Science Lab with a song! Teacher leads the children in singing Shout Out Loud. [6] That was some great singing. (to Teacher) So, to find out what are we talking about today that is so important, I think we should shake things up a bit and check in on Dr. Petri Oppenheimerstein and Flask. Dr. O is working on something that I think will help us all understand something very important about God. #5 #6 Teacher exits. Play the Skit and Bible Lesson Video. [7] Teacher re-enters. As you can see today we are talking about the most important thing that we can ever talk about. We re talking about Jesus taking our punishment so that we can be forgiven of our sins. In fact it s so important that it s our Main Point! Everybody stand up! [8] Jesus Took My Sins Away! The Teacher leads the children to make up cheerleader-type hand motions that go along with the Main Point. Once everyone has gone over the Main Point, have the children repeat it with the motions two or three times. You see, God didn t have to send His Son to take the punishment for our sins. But He did because He loves us. Our Bible verse tells us all about it. Check this out: [9] But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 (NLT) #7 #8 #9 Note: The following is an invitation to accept Christ. Depending on the age of your children, you may want to move on to the Small Group or Offering sections. #10 Wow, that s a great verse. God doesn t have to love us that much, but I m glad He does. [10] Me, too. But God also loves us enough to give us a choice. By dying on the cross for our sins, Jesus offers us the free gift of salvation. If we accept it, we will be forgiven of our sins and we don t have to be separated from God when we die. Instead, we will go to heaven and we will spend forever with God in a place where each day is better than the one before. And accepting this gift is easy. We call it the ABC s of salvation. [11] The letter A stands for the word Admit. We admit to God that we have sinned. This isn t a hard thing to admit, because we ve all sinned. [12] #11 # Elevate
10 Next, the letter B stands for the word Believe. We have to believe in God and believe in His Son Jesus. We tell God that we believe that Jesus died on a cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven. [13] Finally, the letter C stands for the word Choose. We choose to accept the gift of salvation, we choose to follow Jesus and live our lives for God. We pray each of those things in a prayer to God and He hears us. Right now we re going to lead the prayer of salvation. If you ve already prayed this prayer before, you don t need to do it again. And you don t have to pray this prayer if you don t want to. But if you do, please bow your head and repeat after me. (prays) #13 [14] Dear God, I know that I have sinned. (pause) I have messed up and done things that I knew were wrong. (pause) But I believe in your Son Jesus. (pause) I believe He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. (pause) Please forgive me for the things I ve done wrong. (pause) I choose now to follow Jesus and I invite Him into my life. (pause) Thank you so much for sending your Son, Amen. [15] If you prayed that prayer with me, then you are now a follower of Jesus. You ve been forgiven of your sins and you will now get to spend forever with God in Heaven...the most awesome place ever! That s the most important decision you will ever make in your entire life. Right now we are going to break up into our Scientific Groups and you ll have a chance to talk with your leader about the decision you ve made. You ll also learn about what you should do now that you ve made that decision. I ll see you when you get back. #14 #15 SCIENTIFIC GROUPS (SMALL GROUPS) [16] Welcome back from your Scientific Groups. I m very happy with all the decisions that were made today. The Bible tells us in Luke 15:10 that the angels in heaven are celebrating right now because of the decisions that were made today. And I want us to celebrate, too. Let s all stand and sing. Teacher leads the children in singing Limitless. [17] There is nothing we could ever do to thank God enough for everything He has given to us. He gives us our homes, our families and even His only Son. But we can still use this time to show God that we understand that everything we have comes from Him. We do that by giving back part of what He has given to us. Let s take up our Offering. [18] OFFERING Thank you for worshiping with us. We ve talked about a lot of important things today and some of you have made a very important decision! Great job!
