1 Holocaust Memorial Day 2015: Keep the memory alive
2 Every year, 27 January marks Holocaust Memorial Day. In 2015 this day commemorates the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau, the 20th anniversary of the Bosnian Genocide and the 21st anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. On and around this date people from all over the world come together to remember the destruction and devastation caused by the Holocaust, genocides and persecutions on a worldwide scale. York s Holocaust Memorial Day programme follows the theme KEEP THE MEMORY ALIVE, engaging with partners both inside and outside of the city to create a programme of varied events that commemorate the past, explore the present and consider the implications both have for our own futures. The vision for 2015 is to remember, enabling survivors, to be at the heart of HMD, as we will share their life stories and memories of their experiences HMD TRUST Not only do we collectively share an obligation to remember the events of the past but to remember the individuals who were victims to the worldwide atrocities. Unless stated in individual listings all events are physically accessible. Please contact each venue for specific information.
3 This year we invite you help keep the memory alive, to remember and to contribute in supporting York as being an understanding and accepting community for all.
