1 Vol 36, No 2 Oct ober 2018 New s of Un idos en Cr ist o M in n esot a CONVENOR'S CORNER By M ar i-lyn n O'Br ien (con ven n idosen cr ist o.com ) Greetings from Council, My name is Mari-Lynn O'Brien and I now have the privilege of serving as your Convener. This is my second year on Council, and as I have stepped into the role of Convener, I ask that as we start this New Year on Council, you lift us up in Prayer. Cathy has done some addressing of how we struggle to fill the weekends and also struggle to get enough team together. We as Council wish to be wise with the money and time that we are given and need to begin to look at how best to share this wonderful program with those that do not know what Unidos en Cristo is. Now that we do not require a pastor to sign off on the applications, many no longer know who we are or what we are about. Council will be looking at, and praying about the best way to rectify this. We have several ideas and are beginning to try to determine the best course of action. That being said, I want the focus to be that of God's will, so join us in praying that we do just that, listen to, and follow God's will and leading. As I have been praying about writing this article, I came across this verse and it really spoke to me. Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." We are seeking God's will so that we will continue to stand and serve. Like the cross says that we all wear, Christ is counting on us. He is counting on all of us to do His will. One thing I also ask is that I would love to hear what this ministry means to you. I would love to have you put down into a paragraph exactly what Unidos en Cristo has meant to you. What did you come away with, what touched you the most? Please share with us, the Council just that. You can us at convenor@unidosencristo.com. I will share with Council the feedback that we get, and if you don't mind, it may be used to help us let others know about us. Thank you for reading all of this and I look forward to the feedback. We will stay in touch with you, our 4th Day community, and let you know how things are going, and like the Council, we pray you will all be praying with us as we move forward! Palanca Press Page 1
2 WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS By Ker r y Qu am Weeken d #291 Rect or The verse for the weekend was?may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope? Romans 15:13. UEC 291 was a grace filled and prayer saturated weekend that brought men together to celebrate a life in Grace. The Lord provided just what we needed at the time it was needed. A time to rest, a time to listen, a time to speak, a time to contemplate, a time for fellowship, and the time to grow into a Faith based family of believers within this special UEC community As I reflect on the weekend I remain in awe of the way that the team and weekenders came together. The Palanca Team and Spiritual Directors were prayer warriors and covered us throughout the ups and downs of the weekend, always leaning on the Lord to surround all involved with a peace that can only come from Him. There was plenty of Spiritual warfare and this team ran to prayer for discernment. They were ALWAYS there to pray and call on the Holy Spirit to do what we cannot do. The Palanca team sent off and received Rollista?s in special ways that put each Rollista at ease to deliver each unique messages throughout the weekend. The rollos were clear and engaging and lead us to great conversations and amazing poster parties. A personally significant memory about UEC 291 is that my father served on the Palanca team and my son attended as a weekender. For the weekenders, Thursday night, as one would expect, was a night to settle in. By Friday evening, acquaintances started becoming friends and we all know what happens on Saturday night! By the time Sunday came around, friends became family. On the day of the Ultreya, two weekenders publically declared their faith in Christ at a believers baptism. This blood bought family help to put on the best ultreya ever with Don Sinnwell reporting that he had never seen such a helpful team working together to clean up after the Ultreya. To God be the Glory, great work he has done bringing together the team and weekenders of UEC Weeken ds #293 an d #294 Faith Presbyterian Church Excelsior Blvd. Minnetonka, MN As always, watch for the 4th Day signs directing to the proper entry door. M en?s UEC #293 October 18-21, 2018 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. By Cyn di Pow ell Weeken d #292 Rect or a How about, best weekend ever! ;) Unidos En Cristo #292 was an amazing weekend that God put together. From day one, His hands were guiding and molding the team and upcoming weekenders. He chose each one of us for this specific weekend! A common thread throughout the weekend was that none of us are perfect and that we all have been, are being or will be broken. The beauty is that despite and even sometimes because of that brokenness, the Lord uses us for His glory. We are like crayons, even if a crayon is broken, it still works, broken crayons still work! It has been mentioned to me multiple times that some will never look at a crayon in the same way. What a blessing this weekend was for many, especially me! Palanca Press Page 2
