1 Volume 689 August, 201 Edinburg United Church The Open Door At the May congregational meeting, a vote was taken to change our by-laws. In 2015 we will be governed by a Council. This group of 12 (plus the Pastor) will handle all decisions and planning for EUC moving into the future. Your opinions matter, and your input is necessary. Members of this church are still needed to teach Sunday school, volunteer for outreach events, and contribute to mission work. The lack of com- lack of vitality. I was born in Barberton, but I have lived in the Edinburg area since I was a baby. I have two sisters and a brother who is now in heaven. Three generations of my family attend EUC. I have been married 15 years, and I have three children. I encourage delegation of duties. Please consider how you might be involved. At the September congregational meeting, we will vote in this new Council. A Talent Survey will be in the bulletin during the month of August asking for volunteers. There will be several ways to aid in this transition: volunteer for a oneyear Council position, volunteer for a two-year Council position, volun- position (care of septic, grounds, parsonage, and church being four such positions), or volunteer for Pastoral Relations Committee. Please pray for the future of EUC as we implement these changes to our church. Pastor Tim A Confirmation Class will be offered during the school year. This class is available for students in 7th-9th grade. It will begin on September 7 (Rally Day) and end with official confirmation on Pentecost Sunday, May 2, It will be held during Sunday school hour. If your child would like to attend, please let Pastor Tim know. went to Southeast High School and Kent State University. I am currently going to Kent State for my Masters. I have worked at Dairy Queen, Papa Johns, Happy Day, Hattie Larlham, and Rootstown Co-Op Preschool. (I was the Director/ Teacher there for 10 years.) I just got a new job with the LEAP program inside Akron Public Schools. I have been coming to EUC since I was a baby. I have been involved in Christian Education, VBS, Sunday school, mas Programs, Wom- the church pantry. I love spending time with my family, reading, and scrapbooking. Who am I?

Please bring items to put in the baskets. A list of suggestions is attached to this newsletter. All items should be new. We need as many donations and people at this meeting as possible as we will not be meeting again for this purpose. If you plan to make your own basket and bring it in later, please let Cindy Jarrett know. Also, let Cindy know what items you will be canning. Who Am I? Open Door Deadline The deadline for newsletter submissions is always the 15th of the month. If you want to submit something for the September newsletter, the deadline is August 15. When you are in the final days of your life, what will you want? Will you hug that college degree in the walnut frame? Will you ask to be carried to the garage so you can sit in your car?
