2 Business Conducted at the July Meeting: Approved the payment of Northern Conference dues and renewal of the council website. Are you ready to step "Into the Breach"? Based on Bishop Olmsted's Apostolic Exhortation "Into the Breach", weekend participants are encouraged and challenged to reclaim and live the virtues of Christian masculinity Sept 9-11 at Camp Guggenheim, Saranac Lake. Outdoor activities include canoeing and hiking. $100 includes meals and lodging. 3 Worthy Brother Knights, As you are aware, Bishop LaValley has called for a vocation summit on Sunday, September 25, Articulated in his April 9, 2014 pastoral letter, "find your home in Christ," the vocation summit, "Inspire: Called to Love," is a vital component of Bishop's future vision for our diocese. We anticipate over 6000 participants for this event and a cadre of volunteers will be needed to make it a success. The summit will involve a number of events that will be running simultaneously therefore, directing, guiding and assisting participants to the appropriate locations within the conference center will be the major responsibility for volunteers. Additionally, the summit will conclude with a mass for all participants and the distribution of Holy Communion will require volunteers to direct, guide and assist. Volunteers will be able to attend all the events at the summit and will have reserved seating. (Volunteers must register) Training sessions will be scheduled and detailed instructions with maps of the conference center will be provided to all volunteers along with a fashionable "event volunteer" vest for easy identification. Knights of Columbus baldrics or Color Guard apparel could be used to augment or even replace the volunteer vest to help promote our presence. The Fourth Degree Color Guard have been invited to process in for the mass and serve as guides/ushers for the ministers of Holy Communion on the floor of the arena. Worthy Fourth Degree Master of the 5 th NY District, David Clark, will coordinate the Color Guard and can be contacted by phone at (cell) (home) or by at: kralcevad@hotmail.com. 5 Dear Brother Knights, The first month of a new fraternal year is already behind us. Please help support your council by volunteering an extra hour or two this year. Helping to support the council s Service Programs will continue to keep the council active! Please help support the C&B program by buying or selling at least one book of tickets. This is an easy way for the council to make some extra funds for donations! As a reminder, the upcoming major Northern Conference events are the Prayer Rally at Canton on October 16 th and the Annual Chapter Ball on October 22 nd.
