5 Greetings From Our Pastor Dear friends- On behalf of Fr. Emerson and myself, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness during this Christmas season. I think there was a wonderful spirit as we celebrated this joyous feast. The generosity of so many to the Christmas collection for the needs of the retired and ill priests of the Archdiocese; the overwhelming response to our Giving Tree project; the donations people gave to help those struggling at this time of the year these are all testaments to your desire to put your faith into action by works of charity and kindness. May God bless you for your many acts of goodness. I also want to thank all those who gave so much of their time and talent to help us celebrate this season. I m grateful to our lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, ushers and servers who helped with our liturgies. The music at each Mass had a distinct style and helped us to pray better. And a word of thanks to those who worked so hard behind the scenes decorating the Church and seeing to all those details that require so much time, but make things flow so well all of us in the parish are in your debt. We now leave one year behind and approach a new year. None of us has any inkling of what lies ahead. If life is true to form, most of us will experience a new year with its share of joys as well as some sorrows and disappointments. No doubt there will be challenges ahead for all of us as a nation, a church, as families and as individuals. No matter what lies in the future, there is one thing we can rely on and that is the importance of our faith. It is faith that helps us to be grateful for our blessings and assures us of God s strength in the face of difficulties. Truly faith is the greatest gift we can have. As I grow older and things in life seem to change so rapidly at times, I am so grateful for that gift of faith, which, no matter what happens in the days ahead, reminds us that all things work out for the good for those who love God and invite God to be active and present in their lives. Finally, I would remind you that our Epiphany celebration will be held on Friday evening Jan. 6. It consists of a dinner in the parish hall followed by our pageant in the church. All are invited to this evening a chance to renew old acquaintances, to meet new people, and to relax and enjoy ourselves after the business of Christmas. Please sign up at the exit to church this weekend if you plan to be with us. Again, thank you for all you do and may God bless you and your loved ones in Fr.
