5 Tuesday Afternoon Bible Study We are continuing our exploration of prayer in September. (We are not meeting again in August.) We will be using Romans 8: as our main focus text. From Marguerite Roark in the July/ August issue of Gather magazine, When we pray, we go before the One who has endowed us with the capacity to think, the ability to choose, the right to inquire, the desire to listen and the need to learn... In prayer, we live before the face of God. What a home. We meet twice a month, the first and third Tuesday of the month in room 309 at 1 pm. We welcome men, women, young, and old to join us as we read, reflect and share our thoughts. This topic of prayer is a great time to dip your toes in the waters of Bible Study. Join us for our discussion. In any relationship, communication is key. We need to share our thoughts as well as listen to each other and, of course, also listen to God. Joining us might impact your life in ways you can t even imagine! Panera Book Group The Panera book group meets each Sunday at Panera located at 2750 Martin Rd, Dublin, down the street from Lord of Life, between the 10am-11am hour to discuss chapters of a chosen book and it's relevance to our lives spiritually. The next book the group will be starting is God s Guest List: Welcoming Those Who Influence Our Lives by Debbie Macomber. All are welcome to join the group at any time! Who is on God s guest list for your life... and why? The answers may surprise you. Through touching true stories and inspiring insight Debbie Macomber takes readers on a journey to discover the shaping influence others have on us and the power we have to shape and influence those whose paths cross ours. 5

OUR VISION Lord of Life Lutheran Church is a community of Christ where we experience God's grace, comfort and acceptance through each other. From here, everyone is empowered to share, teach and give what each has received. OUR VALUES 1. The Gospel calls us to unconditional regard for all people. 2. Prayer is necessary for our relationship with God, one another, and the world. 3. Scripture provides the foundation for our lives of faith. 4. The authority for our ministry is founded in Jesus Christ, the head of the Church which is the Body of Christ on earth. An elected Congregation Council provides administrative authority; our called pastor (s) provides the spiritual authority of the Office of Word and Sacrament Ministry. 5. Each member is uniquely gifted by God for ministry and is expected to mature in discipleship of Jesus Christ. 6. Any ministry based on our Mission, Vision and Core Values is valid for our congregation, and may, at any time, evolve or end. Last Sunday s Spiritual Arithmetic Worship Attendance: 178 Operating Fund Giving = $13,016 LoL is on Find us at or search for Lord of Life Lutheran and like us for daily updates and inspirations Check us out on the web at:
11 This week s focus on Stewardship in Action is on how we as a congregation share the gift of our treasures. For this week, we review how the treasure part of our stewardship is done in our congregation. Each year, we ask everyone to review how they have been blessed and how they share their treasures to aid in supporting and accomplishing God s work in the area they serve. Additionally, each year we put together a budget that lays out how we as a congregation plan to be stewards of the treasures that we, as an organization receive. Requests are made from leaders and members of the congregation to support and develop ministries for the members of the congregation to participate and share their gifts in to reaching others with the love of Christ. These requests are combined with the projected expenses related to staffing and operating our congregation and the facilities. Once this data is collected, the council is required to develop a budget, adjust it to the anticipated income and then submit the recommended budget to the congregation for our members to review and decide if they will support it and then vote on it. Once the budget has been approved by the congregational vote, it becomes the spending plan for the next calendar year. The expectation is that the membership will strive to support the budget and that all of the congregational leadership will strive to adjust their spending to keep in line with the actual giving. Watch next month for some more information on how we are actually doing with the treasures we receive. 11
