If you know someone needing the prayer chain, or if you would like to volunteer your me on the chain, please call either of the leaders listed below: Philomena Lillie or Audrey & Mike Lucotch NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE A pilgrimage of faith, the National Catholic Youth Conference is an exciting, biennial three-day experience of prayer, community and empowerment for Catholic teenagers addressing a wide variety of topics including Catholic spirituality and prayer, social justice issues, sexuality and leadership. We are now accepting registrations to join our Diocesan pilgrimage. Information is available here: Please contact your parish office to register. ST PAUL YOUTH MINISTRY CHECK IT OUT! This is an open invitation to all students in grades six through twelve to join us on Sunday evenings to discover what God is calling you to do as the young church. Saint Paul Youth Ministry is focused on forming our young people through the study and practice of their faith and to challenge them to embrace the life of the church through prayer, service to our community and social activities. Below is our schedule for the next few months. Grades 9-12 meet 4:30-6:00PM and Grades 6-8 meet 6:30-8:00PM except where noted differently. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith while being surrounded by other teens just like you. For more information on the youth conference please visit The cost of the trip is $ which includes lodging, bus transportation, diocesan t-shirts, conference registration & all meals. Glenn Buzzard will provide Music and Fr. Jim will be the Celebrant. All are welcome to attend! SAFE ENVIRONMENTS Please remember that keeping our environments safe is a monumental task. Volunteers, staff & clergy are all required to have clearances and training about spotting grooming of vulnerable people and signs of Child Sexual Abuse. The Virtus trainings help keep us tuned in to issues of inappropriate behavior and how to report anything seemingly out of line or inappropriate. If you have any suspicion about the sexual abuse (or any other type of abuse) of a minor child by anyone, please contact PA Childline immediately at If the alleged abuser is functioning in a parish, school or diocesan position as clergy, religious, paid staff or volunteer you are also requested to contact the Bishop s Delegate for Matters of Sexual Misconduct after you have called the Childline number and made the report. Funding for the project was from our portion of the Diocesan Lenten Appeal and from the Rosary Altar Society. We ask that any group using the Parish Hall to check the restroom areas before closing up the hall. Things should be left clean and damage free. Any issues should be reported to the Parish Office, as soon as possible. If we all do our part, maintaining clean orderly restrooms should be easy. OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY FOR VOCATIONS The first full week of November is designated as National Vocation Awareness Week. Please join Catholics from around the diocese on Thursday, November 8 for an opportunity to pray for vocations. The Office for Priestly Vocations is sponsoring a Diocesan Day of Prayer for Vocations at St. Paul Church in Greensburg. Eucharistic Adoration will begin at 11 AM and continue through the day, concluding at 6 PM with sung evening prayer and benediction. Please stop in throughout the day to pray for our seminarians and those discerning God s call. BOB EVANS COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER Thank you to everyone who participated in the Knights of Columbus/ Bob Evans Community Fundraiser. It ran all month long on each Wednesday, all day. Going there on Wednesdays was like a reunion of sorts, running into people from church and joining in conversations about families and our community. It was a social event as well as a fundraiser. 15% of our joint food purchases went to the K of C. Good food and good fellowship as we raised money to fill the coffers at our local K of C! RAS BUSINESS MEETING The Rosary Altar Society will meet on November 6th at 6:00PM. The meeting will be held in the Money Counters Room at the end of the hall. Because of Voting we had to juggle to get everyone into a room on the first floor. November 10-11: Flood Relief. Bishop Malesic has called for this collection to help people recover from recent flooding in the Diocese of Greensburg. The proceeds from the collection will first go to Catholic Charities relief efforts in that community, and any remaining contributions will be placed in a Diocesan Disaster Fund to help meet future needs. November 17-18: Diocesan Poverty Relief Fund & Catholic Relief Services. November 24-25: Local Charities. Collection aides the poor and needy in our community. Saint Vincent depaul, Food Pantry at OLOG, Saint Emma Monastery and many other appropriate organizations helping the poor benefit from this fund. As always, your continued generosity is appreciated! Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God s laws out of fear of what might happen if we don t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. The Shema prayer of Orthodox Jews is based on the reading from Deuteronomy today, Hear, O Israel. Every morning people recite the prayer as a profession of their love for God and pledge their obedience to God throughout the day. VOCATIONS DISCERNMENT FOR BOYS IN GRADES 6-12 The Office for Priestly Vocations is hosting vocations discernment events for young men. Jeremiah Days, for boys in grades 6-8 and their parents, will be November 10, February 9 and April 13 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Barbara Parish, Harrison City. Priesthood Discernment days will be held for young men in grades 9-12 at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School from 6:30-8 p.m., November 18, December 9, February 17, March 10, April 14 and May 12. MELCHIZEDEK PROJECT VOCATIONS DISCERNMENT SESSIONS FOR MEN IN LATROBE The Melchizedek Project evenings for young adults to discern a vocation to the priesthood will be held November 11 and 25, and December 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory at Holy Family Parish, Latrobe. Because Marriage is a serious step in life and it is a Sacrament, Marriage Preparation is necessary. The diocese s Office of Faith, Family and Discipleship and the Center for Ministry Development will present a workshop with Tom East, Accompanying Youth and Young People on their Journey of Faith and Discernment. The workshop is for leaders in faith formation and youth ministry, including catechists, volunteers and Catholic school principals and teachers. It will be held November 16 from 8:30AM to 2:30PM at the Christ Our Shepherd Center on Route 30 east of Greensburg.
