I feel as if he can relate to them because they both aren t entirely sure where they are going. Green dress: Holden would not do anything with a prostitute because he felt bad about the dress she was wearing. He thought she looked innocent and that he was ruining her by using her. Red hat: Mitt: Holden s Bother Allie wrote poems all it when he played baseball so when he got bored he always had something to read. Holden would reference back to it from time to time in the book. Checkers in the back row: Whenever Holden would play Jane in checkers she used to always keep her checkers in the back row. She did it because she liked the way they looked in the back row. Carrousel: Phoebe used to love the carrousel. When Holden was younger him, DB, and Allie used to go and take Phoebe to it. They used be barely be able to get her off the thing. Catcher in the Rye: It tells about how Holden is trying to look out for people. He is trying to protect their innocence and save them from growing up so fast like he has.
