2 Welcome We are so glad that you have joined us for worship this morning and we want you to know that you are always f welcome. Regardless of who you are, where you come from, what you do professionally or in your spare time, there is always a place for you here at Greystone. You can give us a record of your visit by filling out the blue Friendship Pads as they are passed down the pews during the service. This will give us a chance to connect with you and help you learn more about Greystone. You can also ask one of the Ministers or Ushers who will direct you to information about our church or I invite you visit our website: Worship Care is available in our preschool area for babies to five-year-olds during our worship services. If you would like to place your children in Worship Care, please stop by the check-in desk to register and drop off your children. We also have activity bags available for children of all ages. They are located in the basket near the entrance to the Sanctuary. I hope you find Greystone to be a vibrant, diverse community of faith. Through this dedication, the family pledges to raise Lilly in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and Greystone pledges our support in their efforts so that when Lilly reaches an appropriate age she may choose for herself to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. Joining us on this special day are Lilly s parents, big sister Sophie, grandparents, great-grandmother Pat Hardison, and great-aunt Mary Thomas Wynne. 8 ANNOUNCEMENTS Wednesday Night Adult Studies - Join us on Wednesday nights in December for Adult study and fellowship. There are three options for your consideration. John Vestal will continue his study in the prophetic book of Jeremiah. This small group is enjoying so much their discussion and reading of this major prophet. Elaine Hansen will gather a group to write cards this Advent and Holiday Season. Amanda Atkin will lead a group in an Advent study that offers a different way to move through the season. Thanksgiving-to-Christmas is often experienced as a marathon and we find ourselves hurtling toward the finish line. But there is an alternate route. Explore a different path to Christmas morning. Classes begin at 6:30, December 6 and December 13. December Worship Schedule - Beginning this Sunday, December 3rd, Greystone will gather on Sunday mornings to celebrate and worship as one church family through the month of December. We will gather at 11:00am each Sunday (except for New Year s Eve Sunday). Additionally, the church will hold services every Sunday night the first four Sundays of Advent including Christmas Eve. Please check your church calendars for further details. This temporary change in schedule will give our congregation the opportunity to join together in one heart and voice during these beginning days of the Interim and hopefully will strengthen the impact of our worship and the "ties that bind" us as the people of God. You might even see some faces you haven't seen in a while! December Worship Schedule: December 3: Morning Worship at 11 AM Hanging of the Greens at 6:30 PM December 10: Morning Worship at 11 AM Christmas at Greystone - The Word Became Flesh at 6:30 PM December 17: Morning Worship at 11 AM Service of Hope and Remembrance at 6:30 PM December 24: Morning Worship at 11 AM with a Children's Christmas Pageant Candle Light and Communion Service at 5:30 PM December 31: Coffee and Doughnuts at 10 AM Morning Worship at 10:30 AM (no Sunday School) Shoe Boxes for Hope - This year will be the 18th year Greystone has provided shoeboxes filled with gifts for the students of Hope Elementary School and gift cards for the staff. The Greystone Youth are sponsoring this as a church-wide mission project and sign-ups are on a table outside the sanctuary. We will dedicate the shoeboxes in our services on Dec. 17. 9 Hanging of the Greens Service - Tonight at 6:30 PM, we will usher in the Advent season with a meaningful Hanging of the Greens Service. We ll join together to decorate our worship space, highlighted with carols and readings. Your family is invited to join us as we begin the season of Advent. Christmas at Greystone: The Word Became Flesh - Join us next Sunday, December 10 at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary for this special program featuring the Adult Choir, Soloists, Grace Tones Ensemble, with Narration and Orchestra. Senior Adult Sponsored Trip - Saturday, 12/16, we will travel to Wake Forest to Pipers Christmas Light Show to view the lights, ride the train, visit their candy shop maybe Santa will be there. We will dine at Shucker's Oyster and Sea Food Restaurant. Meet in the Sawmill lot at 5:00 PM. Christmas Eve Offering - Greystone's Christmas Eve Offering is traditionally dedicated to a Missions Project. This year's offering will go toward a 2018 Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging event (formerly Stop Hunger Now). Our goal is $11,600 which will allow us to package 40,000 meals for those in need around the globe. Please consider donating an amount equal to taking your family out for an evening dinner so that others will be able to have a hot and nutritious meal. A $60 donation will provide over 200 meals for those in need. Thank you for your generous support! Wednesday Night Dinners at Greystone - We will accept reservations until noon on Mondays. You can reserve your meal by filling in a reservation card (located in the Sanctuary pew racks) and placing that card in the offering plates, calling the church office or by signing up through our church website. Meals are $7 per adult and $4 per child. We are offering a family cap of $20. We will start serving dinner at 5:30 PM and continue serving until 6:45 PM. Menu 12/6: Bar-B-Q, fried chicken, slaw, boiled potatoes, hush puppies, roll. Thank You - We would like to sincerely thank Greystone s staff and members for all the love and support you have given our family during recent health challenges and the death of a family member. We were truly touched by all the cards, phone calls, flowers and most of all the hugs to all of us. We are blessed to be part of such a loving church family.
