Let us silently prepare our hearts and allow others the same opportunity.) *We invite you to rise in body or in spirit Today s service is a double celebration! First of all, today is Stewardship Sunday so we are celebrating the conclusion of our 2017 Stewardship Campaign and giving thanks to God for the blessings we have been given to continue in ministry. Secondly, today is the day we will celebrate All Saints Day, an opportunity for us to give thanks to God for those who have joined the Church Triumphant. Chimes Prelude: The Saints Delight arr. 6 Gracious and Holy God, you created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. We praise you for you are our maker! Ps. 149:1-2 We praise you for taking pleasure in your people and lifting up the humble. Ps. 149:4 In all ages, you have been faithful to us, even when we were not faithful to you. You have sent prophets and witnesses to call us back to you when we ourselves grew weary, stumbled, or fell from your way. We recall some of their names before you in gratitude: Abraham and Sarah, Moses and Miriam, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel, Elizabeth and Mary, Simeon and Anna, Peter and James and John, Mary and Martha, Stephen, Paul, and Timothy, Tabitha and Cornelius. And we also recall those witnesses whose names are not recorded: shepherds and magi, a boy with loaves and fishes, a little girl raised from the dead, a man born blind, a woman whose back was bent, the prodigal son, the Samaritan woman, the rich young ruler, the widow with one coin, unnamed women, the Ethiopian eunuch, and countless more. With them, we join in the eternal song of praise: Page 6

7 Out of your great love, you sent One who was more than witness: Jesus Christ, your only Son, our Savior. Born of Mary, he lived among us, sharing our joys and our sorrows, even suffering the pains of death. By your power at work in Christ, Eph. 1:20 he was raised from the dead and is now seated at your right hand in the heavenly places, above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. Eph. 1:21 Together, with all the saints, we sing of the mystery of faith: Gracious God, by the power of your Holy Spirit, help us to set our hope on Christ Eph. 1:12 and live for the praise of his glory. Pour out your Spirit upon us, as you have poured out your Spirit on generations past, so that our love for all the saints might increase, and also our love for the world you love. May the bread we break and the cup we bless be for us the communion of the body and blood of Christ, until that day, until that great and promised day, when we will feast with all the saints in your eternal realm. Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, one God forever and ever. This we pray as your Son taught us to pray, saying: Page 7

Thanks to the loans from kiva.org, Maria can purchase the cow. Once the cow begins producing, Maria pays back the loan to kiva.org where the money you loaned goes back into your account. 11 Maureen s Haven Information The people who are Shelter Island Presbyterian Church have covenanted to partner with Southold Presbyterian Church to support Maureen s Haven in the following four ways: 1.Sending a dinner team - Starting on Wednesday, December 28 th, SIPC will be sending a team to Southold Presbyterian Church (for a total of two times throughout the season) to help prepare and serve the dinner for that evening as well as to help clean up. This team would gather at SIPC and then travel to Southold and would return later that evening. 2.Preparing the bagged lunches on the third Wednesdays and first Fridays of the month- Starting on Friday, November 4 th, SIPC will be preparing the bagged lunches that will be distributed to the guests upon their departure of the host site the next morning. This team will assemble right here at Shelter Island Presbyterian Church to prepare the bagged lunches and then someone will drive the lunches to the respective location. 3.Spending the night as Innkeeper to monitor the guests - On any Wednesday from November to the end of March, you can join others by spending the night at Southold Presbyterian Church with the guests. 4.Donating toiletry items - there will be bins placed in the SIPC Fellowship Hall closer to the holidays where you can help us donate toiletry items that will be taken to and distributed at Southold Presbyterian Church to the guests at Maureen s Haven. Please note that the options above are not mutually exclusive; you can do one or any combination of the above. Also, please note that volunteering for one date does not mean that you are committing to doing every date.
