For your comfort, we also have a children s corner in the back of the sanctuary where your child can relax and play and you can still participate in the worship experience. The Christmas Fund helps retired clergy and spouses by providing supplemental monies for pension and health insurance premiums to low-income retirees. At Christmas, the offering provides gift checks to hundreds of annuitants, and it also provides emergency assistance throughout the year. Angel Tree~ Mt. Zion is once again sponsoring families in the Central York School District for this Christmas season. If you would be willing to purchase an item (or two) for a family who is struggling, please take a tag off the angel tree and return the gift wrapped with the tag on the outside by Sunday, December 20th. Thank you for your generosity. Northeastern Food Pantry- During the month of December, the food pantry is in need of paper products: toilet paper, tissues, napkins & paper towels. Barbara Krier will collect all of the donations Sun. Dec. 20th after the early service, and will deliver them Mon. Dec. 21st. We appreciate all of you for supporting the food pantry mission!!!
14 Homewood Auxiliary~ Thank you to everyone who helped to support the Homewood Auxiliary. Whether you registered to become a member, shopped for gifts, (or both), you have made a difference in the lives of others! The deadline to bring the packages in is today. Blessings and peace to you from Paulette Smith & the Homewood Auxiliary. Gospel of John Sunday School Class - Would you like to learn more about the life of Jesus? Want to prepare your spiritual well-being for the upcoming Advent season? Do you have questions about Christian beliefs concerning Jesus? If so, join us for a series that explores the exciting Gospel of John. This study meets in the fellowship hall and is led by David Bradnick. Come Sing With Us! Singers of all skill levels, including youth 7th grade and up, are encouraged to sing in Mt. Zion's two choirs. Jubilation rehearses Sunday mornings and sings at the early service. Worship Choir rehearses Thursday evenings and sings at the late service. Schedules are posted outside the choir room. UCC Advent Devotional-- We have a number of copies of the UCC Advent Devotional to help guide you through the holy season of Advent. The devotionals are available at no charge, or for a suggested donation of $5 (the cost of the devotional, simply place the money in the box provided). They are available side narthex and are entitled, "Wonder". Advent Bags-- A special thank you to Kathy Sweeney and the 1st-3rd grade Sunday school class for preparing Advent Bags! Included in each bag are ingredients to make a special Advent calendar complete with scripture readings, candy, and activities. We hope that this adds to your sense of wonder and anticipation as we await the birth of the Christ child! You can pick one up in the narthex. Thank you! Blue Christmas- The Christmas season is often filled with joy and laughter, but it can also bring with it feelings of sadness and loneliness. This year, Mt. Zion is offering a special worship experience that will offer a space of comfort and care for anyone for whom the holidays are challenging. The service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 7 PM. We invite you to attend and we encourage you to share the information with a friend, neighbor or coworker. Postcards with service information are located in the back and side narthex. If you would like to attend but have need of transportation, please contact the church office so that we can help you arrange a ride. A Winter Getaway!- Are you free the week of January 16-23? Do you want to go to Daytona Beach, FL? A generous donor has come forward and offered up their timeshare condo for silent auction. The proceeds of the auction will go towards the Youth's fundraising efforts to attend the National Youth Event in July. More information about the condo and its amenities are available in the side narthex. The vacation package is valued at $2,300. Bidding starts at $500. Want to be a part of a special Mt. Zion UCC tradition? Join us for "Advent Storytellers! We are looking for folks to read stories to each Sunday school class throughout Advent (Dec. 13 th & 20 th ). Stories are provided for you to read. You will read during the first or last 15 minutes of the Sunday school hour. This long-held tradition is loved by adults and kids alike! We will enjoy our time of fellowship with coffee, juice, goodies and cards! A good time is always had by all, please come join us! WOW Kids WOW (Worship Our Way) Kids is a program for the younger children of our congregation to participate in during the 10:30 worship service. After the children s message, the kids go downstairs for a lesson and snack. There is no sign up process simply bring your child and we ll do the rest! Please consider sponsoring either an altar flower arrangement or our weekly bulletins. It s a great way to send a special message, remember a loved one or celebrate a birthday or event. You are encouraged to take a few minutes upon sign up to complete the form providing the information as you would like it to appear in the bulletin. Flower arrangements cost $14.75 & bulletins cost $ Thank You! Mt. Zion is Streaming! The 8 AM service is now posted on the Mt. Zion website at: with both a live feed (during the actual service) and past services for some of the last few Sundays. The streaming works to PCs, tablets, and smart phones.
