INSTRUCTIONS TO PASTORS AND STUDENTS Eligibility Enrollment is open to members of churches on the Hawaii-Pacific District who feel called of God to Ministry and pastors seeking continuing education credit. First time students must be recommended by the pastor and church board of the church to which they belong. Classes may be audited by Hawaii-Pacific District lay members by contacting the studies secretary. Course Tracks Hawaii Pacific District uses the Modular track for ministers seeking Elder or Deacon ordination. Ministers will not be ordained without having completed their respective course track. Modes of Study The recommended mode of academic preparation for full time Christian services is by attending: a Nazarene liberal arts college, university and/or seminary, or by completing the Modular track program.

47 The courses required of the ministerial students are listed in 44 the Sourcebook for Ministerial Development found online at SA%20SB%20Final2012ms2.pdf Each candidate is instructed to download a Sourcebook for Ministerial Development found at the link listed above. Options for Module Plus Program 1. Two Options are available to the ministerial candidate: OPTION 1 Nazarene Bible College online or Northwest Nazarene University online Other schools may be approved by the District Board of Ministry Studies. OPTION 2 District Board of Ministry Studies may approve those with a Master s degree to teach classes on the Hawaii Pacific District. -Cost for Hawaii-Pacific District classes will be $ per course. Credit for any given class will not be given until payment has been received and all coursework is complete. 2. Candidates should be prepared to appear for an interview at the date, time, and place specified by the District Board of

48 Ministry Studies when they are entering the HIPAC program and 45 if they fail to meet the minimum class requirement. College/University/Seminary Students Students taking classes at other institutions are responsible to submit an annual transcript of work completed to the District Board of Ministry Studies secretary no later than January 1. Enrollment Procedure To enroll in the HIPAC course of studies contact the Secretary of the District Board of Ministry Studies. Your senior pastor will automatically become your advisor and will help guide you in your preparation. Pastors should also work to develop a mentoring relationship with ministers in training within their local church. Board of Ministry Studies and Credentials Timeline and Process STEP 1 Jan. 1 Each student must all transcripts to the Board of Ministry Studies secretary. Jan. 7 Student must have their district license application to the district secretary. The student s local church board/pastor s recommendation letter must be sent

STEP 2 2 Weeks prior to Credentials interviews -District superintendent & secretary call a communication meeting with the Studies and Credentials chairs/secretaries to compile applications/recommendations for the Credentials board. (online attendance is permitted) STEP 3 10 Days before student/credentials interviews -Credentials secretary sets up interviews for every student they would like to meet with. February 1 -Credentials secretary/chair report the results of their interviews to the district superintendent and secretary.
