5 The Cracked Acorn Strong January 22, 2017 C.R. Van Arsdall We who are strong ought to put on ourselves the weaknesses of those who lack strength Kids have the unique abilities to make profound and lasting statements that stick in your mind and never go away as happened when in 1987 we moved to the Warrenton area. We were passing by a newly excavated area of an expanded shopping center, out in the open was a huge boulder half the size of an eighteen wheeler and must have weighted several tons, one of the our sons remarked to his brother, "Dale, that would take both of us to move that one!" He spoke in a tone that implied it was entirely possible for the two of them. Most of us adults soon learn our limitations or pay the penalty of going beyond our human strength. The Old Testament spoke of the strength of the arm and its power to pull the bow and hurl the spear (Isaiah 21:15). The Bible speaks of the power when two or more work together to accomplish a difficult task. Romans 15:1 Children are not concerned about limits but easily strike out on their own to see how toys work and run and play until they are exhausted. They sleep peaceful without a care and rise up each day to a brave new world. A known fact is that children easily learn another language (foreign to us) because they keep trying and trying by rote to learn a workable vocabulary. No Wonder!! that our Savior said "Let the children come unto me!" -Mark 10:14. Jesus was definitely a people person -interested in everyone. We need to re-acquire those wonderful child talents, the results would be reflected in church growth. What is this strong delusion? Paul was speaking specifically of religious error, of preaching things specifically designed to lead the flock astray. Although Paul certainly does not address evolution, I believe the same principle applies there. Likewise, Peter did not specifically address evolution, but the principle applies when Peter, in II Peter 1:16, said, For we have not followed cunningly devised fables We allow evolution to be taught as scientific fact in our schools, and we do little to refute the theory. I have even heard a man who is now an elder say in a Bible class, What difference does it make if the days of Genesis were 24 hours or 24 million years? Well, it makes a lot of difference. The Hebrew word for day used in Genesis, when used with a number, always indicated a 24-hour period. According to Mark Cadwallader, Creation Moments Board Chairman, All evidence is fundamentally based on eyewitness observation whether it be scientific observation during experiment and testing of scientific hypotheses, or eyewitness testimony as in a court of law. No one has actually observed or eye-witnessed evolution Attempts to study evolution have failed to observe any real evidence in spite of multiple efforts. Adaptions of living things are always within groups, not between species groups. Here is my point Evolution is taught in schools, not as a theory, but as fact. There is no proof for the teaching. If we, as Christian parents, do not refute this teaching and teach the truth at home and in the church, are we not allowing our precious children to be raised to believe a lie? Make no mistake teachers and professors are strong influences. If our children never hear our truth that evolution is a flase theory, how are they to know the Truth? Whay say ye? docmgphillips
