5 The Cracked Acorn Our Debt! September 25, 2016 Romans 13:8 - Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law Debt!! Staggering insurmountable liabilities to pay; millions of Americans are reeling from accumulated financial problems that require serious sacrifices to face the future. Chapter 7 has become the sole debt remover for unresolvable mountain high debts. On radio, you can listen to Dave Ramsey who has become wealthy counseling people on how to pay off credit cards and bills to become solvent once again. His afternoon ritual is to have callers that have paid off everything, to call in and scream. "We're debt free!!, usually while cutting up the plastic cards. Yes, they are debt free, how wonderful. They have done this by living on beans and hot dogs and avoiding eating out and going to the movies. In the Old Testament (Leviticus 25) the fiftieth year was to be a jubilee; all debts were forgiven and properties were returned to the original owners. The Lord had a great idea to put his people on a solid footing and help the poor and un-advantaged. That same spirit is found in Luke 4:18, Jesus says, "The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath appointed me to preach to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised." Romans 6 spells it out that we have victory now over sin and when we come out of the waters of baptism, we can shout, "I am debt free!", through the blood of Jesus Christ. Not that they are at fault, certainly we should be able to distinguish between fact and fiction. But it maybe a product of a Hard Heart. You see Pharaoh would not let himself accept the reality of Jehovah God. All around him, through out the 10 plagues the realty was before his eyes and he was determined not to accept. The facts of creation and judgement are all around us. We live with these facts everyday. We see the beauty of God s design in creation everyday. We understand no one lives life on this earth forever. Perhaps it is time for all to believe in the God of Creation and trust in His promise of salvation before we learn it is to late.
