The Pig: Well of course you would say that. For you it is only an egg donation for me it is a total commitment. While the story has a humorous side, the real point of the story is the depth of commitment. Commitment an act of committing to a charge or trust: 2:an agreement or pledge to do 3:an engagement to assume a financial obligation 4:something pledged Commitment is one of those words who's meaning has gotten lost in the busy world of today. It is like Coke it can mean Pepsi, RC or any other Cola type drink. The Commitment made in marriage, Till death us do part seems now to mean till I find something or someone else. Commitment to the Lord once was remain faithful unto death now seems to mean if the journey is how, when and where I want. Commitment is seldom a matter of convenience. The covenant bond we have made with the Lord is binding every day of our lives. One cannot simply set it aside when a better or more enjoyable offer comes along. Revelation 2:5 "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place--unless you repent. 4 The Cracked Acorn Beware October 29, 2017 c.r. van arsdall The other day I saw an old tire tossed off to the side of the road. The sight of the old "crusader" took me back to my childhood when I spent summer days swinging from such a relic. My father owned a '54 car that literally ate up tires. It was after the war and quality was not yet a big thing. We waged a battle against our country gravel road and the tire replacement people. Those were the days when you could dismount a tire, put a patch inside and inflate. We became so good 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. at it that we forgot one time and sealed up a pair of fencing pliers. That tire developed a severe thump and went flat. Good used tires could be recapped maybe once or twice. My college 1949 Chevrolet had one tire that was recapped three times. Highways improved and speed limits were raised and cars could go faster. The need for better and better tires were demanded and the day of flat tires have greatly passed away. All cars today still have a spare or the "doughnut" for those - just in case- times. "A woman at the Maga Mall entrance was passing out flyers to all the women going in. The flyer related an experience that she had outside the Mall. The previous day, this woman had finished shopping, went out to her car and discovered she had a flat. She got the jack out and began to change the tire. A nice man in a business suit came by and offered his help. He changed the tire for her and put the jack back into the trunk. She thanked him and was about to drive away. He asked her if she could give him a lift to the other side of the mall where his car was. She thought she couldn't refuse and said she would give him a lift. She suddenly remembered that he had put his briefcase into the trunk along with the jack. She told him that he would have to wait a few moments that there was still an item she had to purchase in the mall. She hurried into the mall and told a security guard what had happened; the guard went with her to the car but the man had left. They opened the trunk, took out his locked briefcase. At the police station, the briefcase was opened hoping to find the man's address and return his nice briefcase. What they found was rope, duct tape and knives. The police checked her "flat" tire, there was nothing wrong with it; the air had been let out. It was obvious that the man had a well thought out plan. She had not gone against her judgement and had escaped harm." from Kreeti.com The Lord will find a way to put purpose into our lives and to do that He has sent His only Son who was treated like that old tire - just thrown off to the side of the road
