8 The Priesthood of All Believers But you are a chosen people, p a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9) All have an opportunity to serve Need to believe and do Expect active service

9 The Giftedness of Each Child of God If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:7-8) Everyone can serve Help people discover where to serve

10 The Whole Body of Christ Now the body is not made up of one part but of many... If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ and each of you is a part of it. (1 Corinthians 12:14 27) Fit somewhere = fit everywhere People aren t interchangeable Get the right people for the right jobs at the right times

11 Equipping i the Saints So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13) Our role is to equip others to use their gifts in service We don t have to do it all!

14 Discuss: What do members currently do? Are there gaps in how/where volunteers serve? Do many of your opportunities require the same spiritual it gifts? What could this mean?

15 Creating new opportunities Does it help you meet your VISION? Is it too BIG or too small? Is it a hole to fill or an opportunity for ministry? Does it have enough variety? Would YOU or any other reasonable person want to do this job?
