2 Welcome We are glad you chose to worship with us today. No matter what your previous experience with church may be, it is our hope that today s service will be a fresh encounter with God s love and power for your life. This folder will guide you as we worship together. Welcome to Christ Community Church. Our purpose Christ Community Church exists to experience and extend the grace of Jesus Christ in Gainesville and throughout the world. We seek to make a visible difference in the quality of life in our city. Our name comes from two beliefs: God has created people to share life together in community. People cannot reach their full potential unless they enjoy a relationship with God and know him personally. We are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Children We offer a range of Christ-centered programming for children throughout the morning. Sunday School (9:00-10:15AM) is provided for children ages 3 years to 5th grade. At 10:50AM, children ages 3 years to 3rd grade have the option to attend Children's Church during the sermon they will be dismissed from the service to a volunteer who will lead them to their classrooms. Care for toddlers and 2-year-olds is available all morning, and the nursery is always open to babies and nursing mothers. Please visit the Welcome Station for more information and to register your children. Church Directory Have you downloaded our Digital Pictorial Church Directory on your computer or smartphone? It s available to our membership and regular attendees at Just put the address you gave to us in the sign-in box and the software will send you a verification . If you have questions please contact the church office at info@christcommunitychurch.com or Sunday, October 11, 2015 Prelude (All music by permission CCLI # ) *Please silence your cell phones at this time. Call to Worship Psalm 9:1-2 Leader: I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. Prayer of Invocation Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing Words: Robert Robinson, Music: John Wyeth, Come thou fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above; Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, Mount of God's unchanging love. Here I raise my ebenezer; Hither by thy help I'm come; And I hope, by thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wand ring from the fold of God: He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed his precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be; Let that grace now, like a fetter, Bind my wand ring heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above.
3 O that day when freed from sinning, I shall see thy lovely face; Clothed then in blood washed linen How I ll sing thy sovereign grace; Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, Take my ransomed soul away; Send thine angels soon to carry Me to realms of endless day. A Mighty Fortress Is Our God Words & Music: Martin Luther, A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and pow r are great, And armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, The man of God s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He, Lord Sabbaoth His name, From age to age the same, And He must win the battle. And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, We tremble not for him His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him. That word above all earthly pow rs, No thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also The body they may kill; God s truth abideth still: His kingdom is forever. Confession Psalm 13:1-4 Leader: How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, I have prevailed over him, lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. Silent Cofession Comfort Psalm 13:5-6 UNISON: But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me. In Christ Alone Words & Music: Keith Getty and Stuart Townsend, In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light my strength my song This cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled when strivings cease My comforter my all in all; here in the love of Christ I stand In Christ alone who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on him was laid; here in the death of Christ I live There in the ground his body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave he rose again And as he stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am his and he is mine; bought with the precious blood of Christ No guilt in life no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from his hand Till he returns or calls me home; here in the power of Christ I'll stand Till he returns or calls me home; here in the power of Christ I'll stand
4 I Will Be Still Words & Music: Eric Marshall, Though the earth give way; though the mountains fall to the sea Though its waters roar; I will cling to thee There is no fear; as I look upon you I will be still; I will be still And know; and know; and know you are God Though the nations rage; and creation yearns for the Lord Though the earth may melt; I m forever yours There is no fear; as I look upon you Forever, my Refuge; Forever, my Strength, Forever, my Helper; Forever, my Friend (2x) Doxology Thomas Ken, Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. Scripture Reading Luke 24:13-35 We encourage you to bring your own Bible each week and to use it during the scripture reading. If you do not own one, you are welcome to keep one of the sanctuary Bibles. See an usher if you are unable to locate one and they will be happy to provide it for you. Message From Eden to Emmaus The Lord s Prayer OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Children s Church Dismissal for 3 years through 3rd Grade Tithes & Offerings: The offering is a time to not only give of your possessions but to also give yourself to God. Use this time to reflect, meditate and respond to what God is doing in your life. Please mark your attendance with us using the black booklets placed at the end of the rows.
5 Benediction On Jordan s Stormy Banks I Stand Words: Samuel Stennett, Music: M. Durham, On Jordan s stormy banks I stand And cast a wishful eye To Canaan s fair and happy land Where my possessions lie All o er those wide extended plains Shines one eternal day There God the Son forever reigns And scatters night away I am bound (I am bound) I am bound (I am bound) I am bound for promised land Repeat No chilling winds nor poisonous breath, can reach that healthful shore; Sickness, sorrow, pain and death, are felt and feared no more When shall I reach that happy place And be forever blessed? When shall I see my Father s face And in his bosom rest? Community in Action Today Youth Group Today, October 11th, 6:00PM at CCC Youth Group will be every week during the fall semester.
