3 MINUTES The meeting was convened at 9:35 AM. It was determined that a quorum was not present. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES No minutes were approved due to lack of quorum. Minutes will be approved at the next committee meeting. Friend Updates DISCUSSION NOTES- New- There were no new friends to approve. Renewal- Maureen Manning-Rosenfeld of Elgin, Niesa Patton of St. Charles, Linda Healy of Aurora, and James Kintz of Geneva renewed their friendship status. - Gladu will update the committee on new and renewing friends. Community Partner Updates DISCUSSION NOTES New- The committee discussed the application for the Chicago Hearing Society in Chicago. Karen Schrage of Evanston and Itedal Shalabi of Bridgeview are familiar with this agency, has good experiences with them, and would support their acceptance as a Community Partner. The Chicago Hearing Society provides DV services and caters to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. When asked about being on an ICADV committee they replied they do not have the ability at this time. The committee discussed the application for the Syrian Community Network in Chicago. Itedal Shalabi of Bridgeview is familiar with this agency, has good experiences with them, and would support their acceptance as a Community Partner. The Syrian Community Network will be providing DV services for Syrian and other individuals. Their staff are undergoing the 40 hour DV training. Both applications were approved by those on the call, then approved by Leanard and Jones via . Both will be presented to the full Program Council for acceptance and the November meeting. Renewal- Behavioral Services Center in Skokie, and Group Interventions in St. Jacob has renewed their Community Partnerships. CP Survey Updates- There were no Community Partner survey updates Gladu will continue to update the committee on new, renewing and CP survey updates. Program Council Updates DISCUSSION NOTES Updates on New Director Visits- Smith met with Laura Kroft of Granite City. The visit went well and she is looking at updating some old rules. 3
4 Updates on New Directors to Visit- Smith will be visiting Ashley Schwalm of the Quad Cities. Smith will be visiting Rebecca Munoz Ripley of Sterling on November 7 th. PC Liaison Assignment Updates- There are no new liaison assignments. Trushel has a meeting scheduled to talk with Laura Kroft of Granite City on October 13, Reynolds has reached out to Susan Bursztynsky who is confident in her role, and will be reaching out to Ashley Schwalm of Quad Cities. Gladu will report on Smith s visits, the committee members will report any updates with mentees. Centralia DISCUSSION NOTES- People Against Violent Environments has had tremendous financial difficulty. They were closed for half of FY16, re-opened for a few months, and then closed once again. They have not paid FY17 membership dues or FY18 membership dues but did submit an FY18 membership renewal form. Staff reported they do not believe services are being provided, indicated by mail being returned undeliverable. The committee will be mailing a certified letter as a last attempt to inquire about their intentions on remaining an ICADV member. Depending on the response to this letter the committee will determine next steps. Leanard and Jones approved via . ICADV staff will draft a letter and share with Trushel for approval before sending. PC Members not on a Committee DISCUSSION NOTES- Since the last meeting letters were sent to the three Program Council agencies who did not have a staff person sitting on an ICADV committee. Granite City is now sitting on Services, and the Quad Cities, if approved, will be sitting on Funding Oversight Committee. Smith will be reaching out to Connection for Abuse Women and Their Children regarding their committee status. Staff shared that agency s Executive Director is currently the President of ICADV s Board of Directors. Smith will reach out to CAWC. Gladu will continue to inform the committee of Program Council Members not on a committee. Question Box DISCUSSION NOTES- There were two questions put in the question box at the September meeting. One asked about the possibility for two track trainings, one for beginners and one for experienced members. This idea was sent to the Training Institute to work on. The second question was asking to update our brochures. Smith clarified with her notes to members the work that the Outreach and Public Awareness committee is doing for updating our brochures. ICADV will continue to bring question box questions to the committee. Quilt DISCUSSION NOTES- The committee will propose to the Program Council to create a 40 th anniversary quilt. Agencies would be asked to submit a 10x10 square out of cotton material that represents their agency. 4
5 ICADV staff come prepared with a handout and a sample quilt for the presentation to the Program Council Meeting to help kick start agency interest on this project. Leanard and Jones approved this project via . ICADV staff will create a handout for the quilt to bring at the November Program Council Meeting. Training Ideas to Share with Training Institute Trushel asked for a training to get Board Members more involved in fundraising for their agency. Conlon mentioned ICADV has draft modules for Board roles and fund development is part of that. OTHER BUSINESS Trushel will follow up with the members who are not participating.
