2 Announcements and Upcoming Events Upcoming Events July 24 Business Meeting at 6 pm August 7 Summer Choir Rehearsal and Lunch August 13 Children s Ministry Outdoor Movie Night Business Meeting Tonight There will be a church-wide business meeting tonight 6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Childcare will be provided. Please plan on attending! Children s Choir Change It is with much excitement that we announce that our children s choirs time is moving to Sundays! We will continue to have our wonderful graded choirs (Preschool Choir, Music Makers, and Young Musicians) and our terrific choir directors, but we are moving our rehearsal times to 9:30-10 am on Sunday mornings. This time should allow many of our families to participate who could not attend on Wednesday evenings. We will begin our new adventure on Sunday, September 11. Help us spread the word and be sure to bring your children if they are between the ages of three and fifth grade. Seeking Book Donations The GFBC Library is seeking donations of children s books in good to excellent condition to replace old books in the children s collection. Please consider looking through your personal books and making donations. New children s books in honor of an individual are also welcome. Books can be left in the library or in the box outside the office. The library is not looking for donations of adult books at this time. The library is open Sundays from 9:30-11 am and Wednesdays from 9-12:30 pm. Come by and take advantage of what the library has to offer. Outdoor Movie Night We will be watching The Rookie starring Dennis Quaid on Saturday evening, August 13. Join us on the lawn with your blanket or chair. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Announcements and Upcoming Events Senior Adult Fall Trip All Senior Adults are invited to travel by motor coach to see Samson at the beautiful Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on October The trip will include four nights lodging, four dinners, four breakfasts, and a ticket to see the show. The side trips included are a guided tour of the Gettysburg Visitor Center, a luncheon cruise on the Spirit of Philadelphia, and free time in Philadelphia. The cost is $ per person for double occupancy and $ per person for single occupancy. To secure your seat, a deposit of $75.00 per person is due by tomorrow, Monday, July 25. Please make checks payable to Tammy Campbell; you may give you checks to Diana Morde or drop your checks off in the church office clearly marked for the trip. We need a minimum of 30 people. 3 Let s Close the Gap! For the past few weeks, we ve been encouraging each of our 213 giving units to give $100 a week to try and reach our stretch budget for It looks like we are not going to make that budget. However, our ministries have been saving as much as they can, and even though we are behind on our budget, we re not that far behind on our expenses Receipts through June: $712, Expenditures through June: $733, Total Gap between Receipts and Expenditures: ($20,454.24) If everyone at GFBC commits to giving a little extra to the church over the next few weeks, we can close this gap, not tap our reserves, and put the church in a strong position going into next year. Keep pushing! God is using this church to do great things in Cary and beyond. Please pray about your financial stewardship and consider what we can accomplish together using the resources with which we have been entrusted.

4 There aren t enough words to express my appreciation to all those who worked to make this week possible! We certainly have learned and seen that God is good in all things! So many hours went in the success of kids feeling loved by God and by the people of GFBC. So a HUGE THANK YOU to all involved! 5 Announcing Second Wednesdays!! September to May 5:30pm 6:15pm Dinner 6:15pm 7:00pm Program for Adults Missions for Children Fellowship for Youth In an effort to involve more of our church family in our Wednesday night programming, we are moving our weekly Wednesday night dinner to monthly dinners. Yep, you guessed it.get excited about Second Wednesdays!! We will start dinner a little later to make it possible for more folks who work to join us. We will have mission activities for children, nursery for our infants and toddlers, and fellowship for youth so that all adults can join us for programming led by the ministerial staff. The program for adults will address engaging and relevant topics, such as What Does It Mean to Be Church in 2016? and What Does the 2016 Election Mean for Christians? We will kick off on Wednesday, September 14. Make sure to join us! FAQ s about Second Wednesdays What s happening to children s choir? Children s choir rehearsals are moving to Sunday mornings. See bulletin announcement for more details. What s the reason we are making the change? The main reason for the change is because our volunteer base has changed, and it s hard to sustain the amount of kitchen volunteers needed for weekly dinners for nine months. We believe that quality is better than quantity, and we re excited about offering meaningful programs once a month that more of our people will be able to attend. Does this mean our church is in decline? Absolutely not. If you want to talk about the state of the church in 2016, come to Second Wednesday programming! Does this mean I no longer have an excuse to skip? That s correct! If I come at 5, will the door be locked? No, but the food won t be ready yet! You re always welcome to come early to chat with friends. Will the menu be different? Sorry no filet mignon. You can t always get what you want. But there will be a delicious main entrée, a salad bar, and dessert at a very reasonable price! Will there still be an opportunity to win a pineapple? Possibly!
