3 The ABMen group will be attending the December 2018 Financial Income Report Milwaukee Brewers game on Saturday, July 13 vs San Francisco at 6:10 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend. If we can get 25 or more interested we can get a group discount on tickets. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board in the Education Wing. We ll round out the evening with a JAM session - bring your musical instrument to play or to share. Join us in Fellowship Hall on 2/19 from 5:30 to 8:30; we ll have sandwich fixin s for dinner. 4 Historical Reflections: Wall comes tumbling down After two decades of discussions, meetings, plans, and funding concerns, the steam shovel started digging for the new Church building on October 8, Work was finally underway. Then, as in the song, Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down, on February 26, 1929, a new wall crashed into the alley. 3

5 On February 26, 1929, a section of a brick wall installed by R.Hoeppner and Arthur Hoeppner fell into the alley. The previous picture and a current view are below. The neighbor s house escaped damages. Bricks and the two broken telephone poles damaged the garage that was three feet from the house. That garage does not exist today. 6 Musical Notes FROM THE DIREKTR Some people feel that February is a short, dark, dull month. However, if you do a Google search, you find that February is chock full of special days like: February 2 Groundhog Day, February 3 Ukulele Day, February 7 Fettuccini Alfredo Day, February 17 Random Act of Kindness Day, February 23 Chili Day. So you see, there is much to celebrate in February it is all in how you approach the month. Our approach to things is very important it can often determine the outcome. If we approach things with a positive attitude, our experience will be very different than if our attitude is sour or negative. How we do something is as important as what we do. In our choir rehearsals, we try to approach the music with an attitude of discovery discover our part and how it fits into the whole. We try to maintain an attitude of joy joy in using our gifts and joy in combining them with others. Our goal is to serve the congregation by providing music in worship that presents the Gospel in sound. Jesus calls us to live the Gospel every minute of every day. In Philippians 2, Paul calls us to have the same attitude as Jesus an attitude of love and service. Every day is a new beginning a chance to do better than before and a chance to try something new. So, let s celebrate this month with a positive attitude and a heart for service. There are many opportunities right here at First Baptist for you to participate in living the Gospel each day!
