We will have a potluck meal before the meeting begins. Everyone is encouraged to attend. 4 Musical Notes FROM THE DIREKTR Many hands make light work is an old saying that is very true. I am sure that all of us have experienced this first-hand when friends and family have helped us out think moving, painting our house, remodeling. This is something I experience every day with the people of FBC. Our recent Christmas carol sing is an example of what can happen when people work together for a common cause. I can t even begin to list all the people that helped with planning, set up, moving furniture, decorating tables, making food, serving food, and clean up. The best part of it all is that I know that all I must do is ask and the call is answered! What a blessing! The same is true for the musicians we have here. The month of December was extremely busy for all the singers and ringers. When one bell ringer had to step away for a while, someone stepped in to take his place. When discussing how we could find space for all the equipment and people, ideas and suggestions were offered that solved the problem. When a different way of celebrating the Advent season was brought forth, everyone gave it their all. What a blessing! As we look back on 2018, we can remember some wonderful musical pieces that truly made the word of God come alive for people. We can look back and see how far we have come in our personal and corporate musical growth. More importantly, we can look forward to a new year, new ideas, new experiences, and perhaps, new members in our groups. What a blessing! 6 Historical Reflections: Big action from 1928 The First Baptist Church of Greenfield, our official name in 1928, made decisive moves ninety years ago in a period of prosperity. As the West Allis population had quickly grown, our Church membership grew as well. After years of planning and delaying due to The Great War and funding issues, we finally made a decision to build a new sanctuary on the lots we had purchased in The building was more austere than initial concepts and retained the original church structure. The old Church facing Summit Avenue, now Lapham Street, had wood frame construction before bricks covered it to match the new building. Bids were out and received before contracts were signed. Construction began, and then., and then.. we had not anticipated the unexpected event that came.
