Through experiencing God as bread, light, shepherd and vine we had opportunity to get to know our true selves better. Holy Week services extend that invitation to know and be known. The leadership of the church has given priority to the Holy Week experience and cleared the church calendar of all other meetings and activities. May we all use this free time to seek and connect with God who loved us so much that he gave all of himself away. Maundy Thursday - April 13, 7:00 p.m. On this night we allow ourselves to experience the full extent of Jesus love that Jesus shared with even the one who betrayed him. In the receiving, we also sense how Jesus love leads us toward belonging and service. Good Friday - April 14, 7:00 AUMC Here we confront our complicity, our guilt and our need for repentance in the face of the execution of Jesus. Do not be afraid of the starkness of this day but meditate on the depth of God s love and forgiveness. Holy Saturday - April 15, 7:00 p.m. Many times we find ourselves in-between: between the diagnosis and the cure, between the lay-off notice and the job offer, or between the loss and the new normal. On this night, we contemplate the laments of suffering from scripture...we sit and wait together in the silence...and we pray. Easter - April 16, 7:00 Walnut Church of the Brethren 9:30 AUMC Come and celebrate the joy of Christ s resurrection that changes emptiness and death into abundant life now and to come.

SPRING SALAD BAR Wednesday, April 26 11:00-1:00 A.U.M.C. Spring Salad Bar is Wednesday, April 26. The Mission Committee would really appreciate everyone s help with this fund raising project. Lots of salads and desserts are needed to make this event a success. Also needed lots of eaters. We will have sign-up sheets on the Opportunities Table each Sunday in April.

3 PAGE 3 Worship Series for the Easter Season Apr 23 - Jun 4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 The resurrection of Jesus is cause for rejoicing but what does it really mean for us? If we believe in Jesus as Lord and accept God s loving grace it means we have been born again into a new life. During the Great 50 Days of Easter, we will continue to celebrate the presence of the risen Christ among us and we will reflect on how his victory over death affects our way of life using texts from 1 Peter. Has anyone caught it from you? FACILITY FUND What is the Facility Fund? It is an opportunity for us to prepare and meet some major projects that the church is faced with. For example: a new boiler will cost in excess of $38,000, renovate one of the parsonage bathrooms, renovate the church restrooms, seal and stripe the parking lot and other smaller projects. Prayerfully consider financially supporting the Facility Fund for current and future needs. Trustees

4 IDEAS FOR RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS When my husband was hospitalized for almost a year, my house was left to fend for itself. One day, I came home from another long day by my husband s bedside to discover our flower boxes brimming with beautiful flowers. A neighbor did this for me. Barb Preschool News We are still dealing with a lot of sickness. Cheri and I s hope is that with our two weeks of Spring break that everyone will be able to get over their sickness and we can all stop spreading all those nasty germs. If you could continue to pray for good heath for all of us within the preschool we would greatly appreciate it. During the month of March, we talk a lot about kindness. One of the ways we talked about kindness with the children was with our donations of baby items to the mothers and babies of Honduras. I cannot tell you how amazed I was when we had this discussion with our Pre/K class. We told the children that the mothers and babies in Honduras don t have basic needs like blankets, diapers, and little baby clothes when they leave the hospital. We told them we would be collecting these needs during the month of March as part of our kindness discussion so we could send them to these mothers and babies in need. Their responses were so selfless, kind, and sweet. We had children wanting to bring in their teddy bears, their special blankets, and their old baby clothes. In that moment I couldn t believe just how amazing these 4/5 year olds were. The days that followed, each child that brought in something had a great big smile on their face and were so proud of themselves to be able to help someone in need. Thank you to the parents, the children, and all of the church members that were willing to help us with this special act of kindness! Our pre/k class has been busy learning the letters S,T, and U. We also talk about space during the month of March and we discussed the solar system, astronauts, and constellations. Space month is always a special month for the children and they love all the different activities we re able to do. One of their favorites were when we made our own constellations. Our 3/4s class has been working on the letters M and N. We worked on some marble painting and made a special moon out of flour, paint, food coloring, and a little water. We also have been singing a song about 5 little monkeys swinging on a tree teasing an alligator. The children just love it. If anyone has any old magazines that have food or animals in them and are looking to get rid of them the preschool could really use some. We have different projects that we do every year where the kids have to look in the magazines and find different things to cut out and our stash is running really low. Thank you. Blessings, Jena

Amish newlyweds Lamar and Emma Yoder Miller seek warmer weather in Sarasota, Florida, and have purchased a small house in the Pinecraft community. But Emma wishes her days had more purpose than leisurely walks on the beach. Before long she is sending back home for her supplies and advertising a quilting class. Wounded and hurting people have a knack for finding their way to Emma s classes for some quilting therapy: Jennifer, a pregnant new mom; Mike, a charter boat owner; Erika, a wheelchair -bound teen; Kim, a waitress; Noreen, a newly retired widow; and BJ, an artist facing illness. God will use Emma and Lamar on each of their journeys toward healing frayed hearts. And when Jan Sweet visits from Indiana, a romantic twist is unexpectedly added to the class dynamics. Green grass, budding trees, blooming flowers, and awaking bugs. What do you smell? Fresh air, fresh mown grass, falling rain, and food cooking on a bar-b-que grill. What do you hear? Birds singing, children s laughter, and tractors in the field. God s great outdoors is about to become a bigger part of our daily routine. Once again we will look for ways to spend more time outside and less time inside. Oh God, we thank you for the beauty of winter. We thank you that it is over. We thank you that spring has arrived.
