2 GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR SLATED The Livermore-Amador Genealogical Society and the Latter Day Saints (LOS) Family History Center of Livermore will cosponsor an all-day genealogical seminar on Saturday, April 24. Featured will be Ron Bremer of Salt Lake Ci ty, a nationally known genealogy teacher and lecturer. The seminar will consist of classes, demonstrations and a hands-on computer workshop, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hillcrest LOS Church, 1501 Hillcrest Avenue, Livermore. Cost is $5 per family. Snacks and juices will be supplied free, but participants will be responsible for their own lunches. Advance registration is recommended, as attendance will be limited to 250 persons and a full house is anticipated. Registration forms are available from Jolene Abrahams, , or Mary Lynne Horton, There are plans to hold a community genealogical seminar every two years. The first took place two years ago, with 270 people attending. II BULLETIN BOARD Miscellaneous Seminar on family history - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints and the Uvennore-Amador Genealogical Soci ety will sponsor the seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Uvermore Stake Center, 1501 Hillcrest Ave., Uvennore. The cost is $8 per family. Attendance is limited to 250 people. Call for infonnation. Thursday, April 22, 1993 II IN BRIEF Uvennore Seminar set to teach family history research The Livermore-Amador Genealogical Society and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold an all-day seminar Saturday on researching family histories. Registration is $8 at the door for the seminar held at 1501 Hillcrest Ave. Ron Bremer, author of "The Compendium of Historical Sources," is keynote speaker. He has visited the major genealogical record centers in every state and province in North America. The seminar is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and includes classes, workshops and demonstrations. Twenty instructors will provide information in various areas of family research. There also will be computer workshops throughout the day. Genealogical books given to LDS church - Out of gratitude to the Church of Latter-day Saints for sponsoring biennial genealogy seminars in Livermore, the Livermore Amador Genealogical Society has presented three reference books to the church for use in its Family History Library in Livermore. "The Source: A Guidebook of American Genealogy," contains U.S. cemetery, census, court and birth records. "Ancestry's Red Book" helps researchers locate libraries and archives of specific newspapers and periodicals printed in the U.S. Given by George and Harriet Anderson of Pleasanton was "The Library: A Guide to LOS Family History Library." Librarian Mary Lynne Horton helped select the books. The public is invited to meetings of the Livemrore-Amador Genealogical Society at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Temple Beth Emek, 1886 College Ave., Livermore.
