It lists
Page 2 - Proxy Temple Ordinance Sources Since 1969 birth, christening, marriage, and LDS temple ordinance information. The IGI does not list information about living persons, and the names are not limited to LDS Church members or their ancestors. Most of the persons listed in the IGI lived during the early 1500s to 1875 and came from more than 90 countries. 1- When one of the following terms appears in the ordinance column instead of a date: a- Cleared: Name was submitted with complete information, but the ordinance was not completed or recorded when the current edition of the IGI was produced. b- Infant: The child died before 8 years of age and does not need baptism or endowment ordinances. c- BIC (born in the covenant): The mother was sealed to her husband before the child was born, and the sealing of child to parents is not needed. d- Parents Ivg (living): Sealing was not approved because death dates were not provided for the parents, and they could have been living when the name was submitted. e- Not in proc (process): The name is of a deceased LDS Church member and will not be processed for ordinances until the family submits it, or until five years have elapsed from the individual 's death, whichever occurs first. f- Do not seal : The child cannot be sealed to the parents listed, or the wife cannot be sealed to the husband listed. g- Uncleared: The ordinance was not approved. It cannot be performed on the basis of the information provided. 2- When names do not appear on the IGI and ordinances were known to have been performed: a- Name was submitted with incomplete information. b- Name was submitted Family File to a TRS temple. c- Name was temple originated and taken to a TRS temple. d- Name was submitted after the current edition of the IGI. e- Ordinances were completed before A search then needs to be made in the Temple Index Bureau (TIB), the Archive Section of the Family Group Records Collection, or the official temple records. Complete: COMPLETE/INCOMPLETE Ordinances performed from complete information should appear on the IGI.
Page 3 - Proxy Temple Ordinance Sources Since 1969 For Noncomputerized temples all ordinances should appear including Temple Originated, Family File, and Temple File entries. For TRS temples some Family File and most Temple File ordinances should appear. Incomplete: No ordinances performed from incomplete information are entered on the IGI. They are being retained in the computer system until a new program is provided. Other sources available to find ordinance dates for names with incomplete information are: 1- Temple File: Ordinances performed in all temples from incomplete information can be found on the Temple File Ordinance List. (See pg. 5) 2- Family File: a- Ordinances performed from incomplete information and sent to a TRS temple are entered on the TRS Family File Fiche. (See pg. 4) b- Ordinances performed from incomplete information and sent to a Noncomputerized temple can be found in the Family File Ordinance List. (See pg. 5) (FINDING ORDINANCE DATES TEMPLE ORIGINATED RECORD (TOR) If you know it is a Temple Originated Record, then determine if it was sent to a TRS temple or a Noncomputerized temple. To know how to find the ordinance date see: 1- TRS TEMPLE, page 4, TRS-TOR Fiche. 2- NONCOMPUTERIZED TEMPLE, page 5,Temple Originated Record. TEMPLE FILE/FAMILY FILE To determine if the record was submitted by the patron or through the name extraction program, check the batch number on the IGI. Patron submitted batch numbers are "all digit batch numbers", and name extraction batch numbers usually begin with the letter "C". "M" or "P". (Refer to handout, "Tracing the Source of IGI Batch Numbers") Patron submitted Records: 1- Determine if records are Family File or Temple File: a- Use the batch number and search the "IGI Batch Number Index" to find the film number for the original submission record. If the temple is listed on the copy of the original submission record, it was sent Family File (see #2 ). If it is not listed,
Page 4 - Proxy Temple Ordinance Sources Since 1969 it was sent Temple File. (See section ALL TEMPLES - Temple File Ordinance List, page 5) b- The patron notification sheet states whether it is Family File (See 2 below) or Temple File. (See section ALL TEMPLES - Temple File Ordinance List, page 5) 2- If the name was sent Family File, then you need to determine if it was sent to a TRS or Noncomputerized temple by using the "Temple Ordinance Chronology" handout. a- TRS temple: (See section TRS TEMPLES - TRS Family File Fiche, below) b- Noncomputerized temple: (See section NONCOMPUTERIZED TEMPLE - Family File Ordinance List, page 5) Name Extraction Records: All name extraction records go Temple File. TRS TEMPLES TEMPLE RECORDING SYSTEM (TRS) FAMILY FILE FICHE Names that appear on TRS Family File Fiche: Ordinances performed from complete and incomplete information and have been sent Family File to a TRS temple. They are available at the SLC-FHL and are filed by year ordinance was performed and then alphabetically. The 1981 TRS Family File Fiche includes Family File and TOR entries combined. It has dates for the ordinance work. The 1982 to present TRS Family File Fiche has codes for the dates and you must use the "Numeric Day of the Year" code sheet to determine the date. TEMPLE RECORDING SYSTEM-TEMPLE ORIGINATED RECORD (TRS-TOR) FICHE Names that appear on TRS-TOR Fiche: Ordinances performed from a temple originated record taken to a TRS tempie. They are available at the SLC-FHL and are filed by year ordinance was performed and then alphabetically. The 1981 TOR ordinance entries are included with the TRS Family File Fiche. The 1982 to present TOR ordinance entries are on the TRS-TOR Fiche, using codes for the dates. You must use the "Numeric Day of the Year" code sheet to determine the date of each ordinance.
Page 5 - Proxy Temple Ordinance Sources Since 1969 NONCOMPUTERIZED TEMPLES FAMILY FILE ORDINANCE LIST Ordinance dates for those persons who have been cleared and names were sent to a Noncomputerized temple Family File. If names were released to Temple File, the ordinances are still recorded Family File. The Family File Ordinance List includes the name of the person the ordi nances were performed for, the dates of all ordinances (baptism, initiatory, endowment, and sealing), the proxies that performed those ordinances, and the temple officials that officiated in those ordinances. Use the batch number from the IGI or patron notification letter to determine an approximate date. Use this date and the temple where the ordinance was performed to find the film number for the Family File Ordinance List that is recorded in the Blue Book, Register of Genealogical Society Call Numbers, Vol. I, by Jaussi and Chaston, Section and on. This covers the film numbers through From 1982 to the present there is a supplement. TEMPLE ORIGINATED RECORD Ordinances performed from a temple originated record taken to a Noncomputerized temple. On the IGI they are given a "T-90" batch number. To verify ordinance dates, you may check the IGI or film copy of the original record. This film is found in Special Collections on the main floo in the FHL-SLC. To use this film you will need a recommend or letter from your bishop, the batch number, date of the ordinance, and the temple where the ordinance was performed. ALL TEMPLES TEMPLE FILE ORDINANCE LIST Ordinance dates for those persons who have been cleared and the names were sent Temple File. The Temple File Ordinance List includes the name of the person the ordinances were performed for, the dates of all ordinances (baptism, initiatory, endowment, and sealing), the proxies that performed
Page 6 - Proxy Temle Ordinance Sources Since 1969 those ordinances, and the temple officials that officiated in those ordinances. Use the batch number to search the MIPSOL Fiche. MIPSOL Fiche is an index to the film numbers for patron sheets and the Temole File Ordinance List, and is available in the SLC-FHL. Use the film numbers in the ordinance columns only. For any extraction batch number that does not appear on MIPSOL Fiche, you may check at the LDS reference desk on the Main Floor in the SLC-FHL.
