Herby Andrew Gamble, 65, of Route 1, Nixa, was dead on arrival at St. John s Hospital, Springfield at 3:08 a.m. Saturday. A lifelong resident of Christian and Greene Counties, Mr. Gamble was a retired sheetmetal worker and a member of the Bible Baptist Church northwest of Nixa. He is survived by his wife, Clarene; two sons, Robert E., Nixa and David A., Springfield; five daughters, Mrs. Helen L. Martin, Denton, Tex.; Mrs. Lou Ann Costello, Tulsa, Mrs. Kathryn L. Nelson, Columbia, Mrs. Carolyn G. Little, St. Louis and Mrs. Linda Martin, West Plains; two brothers, Lonnie, Springfield and Roy, Pittsburg, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Georgie Broughs, Kansas City and Mrs. Mary Waggoner, Tulsa, and 18 grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Harris Chapel, Nixa with the Rev. Berkeley D. Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Phillips Cemetery near Battlefield. Robert E. Gamble Robert E. Gamble, 72, Springfield, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, January 16, Robert was born on July 30, 1932 near Springfield, Mo., the son of Herby and Clarine Pinkerton Gamble. Robert was a retired metal fabricator from Paul Mueller after 30 years, he also owned Gambles metal Master Co. He was a long time member of the Riverdale Baptist Church in Nixa and had attended South Fremont Freewill Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Wilma in 2003, one brother and one sister. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands Sheryl and Daniel Burns, Springfield, Mo., and Lisa and Richard Brown, also Springfield, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law Dan and Linda Gamble, Nixa, Mo.;four sisters, Linda, Kathy, Carla, Louann; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2005 in Greenlawn South with the Rev. Dale Skiles officiating. Burial will be in Glenn Cemetery in Nixa, Mo. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Springfield News-Leader, January 19,2005. Wilma Jean (Flood) Gamble Wilma Jean Gamble, 70, Springfield, went to her eternal reward at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Cox South hospital, surrounded by her loving family at her side. Wilma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved her grandchildren, her lawn and her flowers. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and many friends. The daughter of Lloyd and Lorene Flood, she was born in Christian County on June 10, She was a wonderful homemaker and member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roland and Donald Flood; and a sister, Connie Wommack. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Gamble; one son and his wife, Dan and Linda Gamble, Nixa; two daughters and their spouses, Sheryl and Daniel Burns, and Lisa

2 and Richard Brown of Springfield; two sisters, Betty Greene of Tulsa, Okla., and Pam Haynes of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Ervin Flood, Joplin; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Rev. Dale Skiles officiating. Burial will be in Glenn Cemetery, south of Nixa. Visitation is tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home at 441 W. Battlefield. Springfield News-Leader, December 5, Frank Pierce Bates Frank Pierce Bates, age 92, of Nixa, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at the Christian Health Care of Nixa. He was born Oct. 9, 1909 in Willis, Okla., the son of Joseph Neff Bates and Nellie Bates. He served his country in the U S. Marines at an early age. He worked as a pipefitter for Kellogg Construction before retirement. He then lived in Texas for twenty years before returning to Nixa five years ago. During his retirement he remained active, and enjoyed making glass figurines. Mr. Bates was a member of First Baptist Church in Alba, Texas. Survivors include: His wife of sixtyseven years, Lillian Ayres Bates, presently residing in Christian Health Care of Nixa; four children and their spouses, Barbara and Jerry Capel, Nixa, Gordon and Vernetta Bates, Nixa, Fred and Kay Bates, Tyler, Texas, and Dan and Feliciadad Bates, Shreveport, La.; a child raised in the home, Morida Adams and her husband, Gary, Tyler, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Waymon Bates, Grandview, Texas. A son, Frankie Bates preceded him in death as well as five brothers and two sisters. A graveside service was on 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Richwood Cemetery, east of Nixa. Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Louis Newton Farmer Funeral Services for Long Time Co. Official To Be Friday Afternoon L. Newt Farmer, 63, a public official of Christian county for the past 20 years, passed away at his home in Ozark at 7 o clock Wednesday evening, November 8, following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Farmer had worked in virtually every office in the courthouse during his period of service as a county official and well known to practically every resident of Christian County. He came to Ozark 20 years ago from Sparta, where he had been employed un the furniture business. Prior to that time he was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. at Kansas City for nine years and at Springfield two years. In 1919 he was elected to the office of county clerk, and moved to Ozark. He served two terms in this office. He later served as deputy circuit clerk during the administration of L. L Moore and again under Reg. M. Mapes. He has served as city clerk for many years. In 1938 he was elected to the office of county treasurer and took over this office January 1, 1939.

3 Mr. Farmer was a native of Christian county born near Sparta on September 27, 1876, the son of James W. and Roxcena Adams Farmer. He was educated in the Sparta public schools and on November 28, 1901, was married to Grace Monroe. To this union were born seven children, all of which survive. They are three sons, Burl of Tulsa, Okla., Harold and L. N. both of Ozark, four daughters, Mrs. J. E. Moore of Ozark, Mrs. James Workman of Pittsburgh, PA., and Mrs. Harold Brownfield and Mrs. Clifford Flood, both of Springfield. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Ida Dye of Sparta. Funeral services will be held, Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Klepper Funeral Chapel at Ozark, conducted by Rev. J.C. Tolbert of the Ozark Baptist Church. Interment will be under the direction of the Klepper Funeral Home. Appeared in the Ozark paper dated year Note: Mr. Farmer was originally buried in the Farmer Cemetery in Sparta, but when his wife passed away, January 15, 1977, the family had his casket exhumed and buried next to his wife, Grace Adelia Monroe Farmer in the Ozark City Cemetery. Contributed by James Workman. Gratz Anderson Gratz Anderson, 91, Ozark, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in Manor Care Health Service, Springfield. He was born March 7, 1906, and was the son of James B. and Amanda (Page) Anderson. He lived throughout his life in Ozark, moving to Springfield in He was a 1925 graduate of Ozark High School, and attended Drury College and the University of Missouri, Columbia. On October 4, 1940, he married Grace Caughron. During his working career Mr. Anderson was employed by the Missouri Highway Department, served as Ozark Postmaster for two years, and was co-owner and operator of Anderson-Flood Hardware. He also raised beef cattle. He was a fifty-year member of Ozark Friend Masonic Lodge #352 AY & A.M. and was a charter member of Ozark Lions Club. Survivors include: his wife, Grace, Springfield; a daughter, Jeanne Legge and her husband, Ed, Jefferson City; a son, James B. Anderson and his wife, Janet, Springfield; four grandchildren, Kirk Enochs, Los Angeles, California, Amanda Enochs, Jefferson City, Rachel and Rebecca Anderson, both of Springfield; two sisters, Martha Flood and Pauline Seals, both of Ozark; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Gussie Haguewood and Mary Ellen Anderson; and a brother, Frank Anderson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Faust Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Selmore Cemetery, Ozark. James B. Anderson

Funeral services will be held at 2 o clock Friday afternoon at the Chaffin Funeral Chapel at Ozark or James B. Anderson, 83, who died at 10:10 Wednesday night at his home here following an illness of several months. Rev. Reg M. Mapes and Rev. Harold Hurst will be the officiating ministers and interment will be at Selmore Cemetery where Friend Lodge A. F. & A. M. will conduct Masonic rites. A native of Virginia, Mr. Anderson came to Missouri in a covered wagon at the age of nine, and Christian County has been his home since then. A farmer and stockman his entire life, Mr. Anderson was well known and had countless friends throughout southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. He was a kindly and considerate man, vitally interested in the happiness and well being of every acquaintance. In 1908, he became a member of Friend Lodge No. 351, A. F. & A. M. at Ozark and remained a loyal and active Mason until his death. He had been a Shriner for almost 40 years and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Amanda Anderson; two sons, Frank Anderson of Springfield and Gratz Anderson of Ozark four daughters, Mrs. Ward Haguewood of Springfield, Mrs. Leslie Flood of Ozark, Mrs. Leon Seals of Tulsa and Mary Ellen Anderson of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Hobart Thompson of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Ernest Woods of Rogersville and Mrs. Joe O. Monger of Ozark three brothers, Wade Anderson of Rogersville, Charles Anderson of Springfield and Hiram Anderson of Ozark, eight grandchildren, other relatives and innumerable friends. Funeral services for Thomas Benton Keltner, 81 who died Nov. 6 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Eisenhour of Reeds Spring were held Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Chapel at Nixa, with Rev. H. V. Wells officiating. Burial was in Eisenhour Cemetery under direction of Harris. He was a lifelong resident of the Nixa community and a member of the Nixa Church of Christ. Survivors include six other daughters, Mrs. Goldie Ragain of Crane, Mrs. Ora Shirkey of Reeds Spring, Mrs. Lois Eisenhour and Mrs. Earnestine Ellingswo rth of Springfield, Mrs. Verna Flood of Nixa and Mrs. Lorene Bishop of Pomona, Calif; two sons, Oakley Keltner of Ontario, Calif and Hershel Keltner of Springfield; 38 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Maud Stewart of Neosho. Ivan R. Gideon 24 Jan Feb 2001 Ivan R. Gideon, 69, Ozark, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 in St, John s Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born Jan 24, 1932 in Springfield the son of Clifford and Lois (Richter) Gideon. On Jan. 12, 1961 he and Helga Jacob were married in Germany. Mr. Gideon retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service including the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was Christian by faith and a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Helga; five children, Van Gideon, Tamara Turner, Saundra Harrison, Jacob Gideon and Frank Gideon; eight

5 grandchildren, Tyra Rafter and Casey, Damon, Noel, Andrea, Tonya, Seth and Eton Gideon; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmo Gideon and two sisters, Eloise Flood and Geneva Lance. Funeral services were Feb. 21 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial with military honors followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
