2 MAINE DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES The Maine District was organized on June 2, 1960, at Wollaston, Mass., following the favorable vote of the New England District Assembly to accept the recommendation of the Division Committee to set the State of Maine apart as a new district. Dr. D.I. Vanderpool was the presiding general superintendent. Rev. J.C. Albright was the New England district superintendent. Rev. Joshua C. Wagner was elected district superintendent of the new Maine District on the first ballot. The new district had 41 organized churches. 2
