1 UNION BAPTIST ASSOCIATION MINUTES, 1848 state that Elder H. Stallings is the pastor of Island Creek Baptist Church. (He has been pastor for many years of Island Creek.) The 1849 minutes state that the Island Creek pastor is dead. This is found on page 20 of the 1849 minutes.

He was electej County Solicit111 at April term, 1857, and of the nuplin Co., Court, for a term of four years :111d at times served as Solicitor in the State Court in the absence of the rcgul :1r Solicitor. In Nov. 1860, he was ordained as ::i minister in the Baptist Church and for many years he \vas both a lawyer and a minister. They were bnpti :z. ed on the first Sunday in June 1858, and became active and useful members of the Kenansville Baptist Church which church he served for many years as pastor. Mt g, Stallings was a sister of Capt. William J, Houston who lost his life in the service of the Confederacy. Portraits of both Capt. llouston nnd Doctor Stallinp are in the County Courtroom as testimonials of their great usefulness. The children of Elizabeth Ann (Houston) and Doctor Stal lings were as follows: (1) Catherine Stallings, m. T. N. Woodruff of Charlottesville, Va, (2) Mnry Stallings, d. unmarried in Salisbury, N. C.
