1 June 2, 2014 On Friday, the entire Early Childhood family gathered together to celebrate Rosh Chodesh Sivan. When the children entered the playroom, Morah was holding a Torah up in the sky and singing, Hashem gave us a present We then took out our Chodesh cards and sang so beautifully! Sophia found the month we were saying goodbye to, Iyar, and Suri came up and found our new month of Sivan. We then discussed how this is our last Rosh Chodesh assembly of this school year, so we will be celebrating 3 months of birthdays. Why? For all of summer birthday children too! Morah said that she had 4 special presents and needed help from the children to see what was inside. Class by class, a child was chosen to come up and open up a present. What was inside? The children saw the present, named the Chag and explain its name! We count 7 weeks. It s when we got the Torah! It s when we cut the wheat. We bring Bikurim! When we came to the last present, Talia held the present closed and Morah asked the children if anyone knew what was inside this last present. Yonatan raised his hand and said, Chag Habikurim! Morah asked him to come up and see. Yonatan helped open the present and he was right! Morah asked Yonatan how he knew the answer. Yonatan said, Because it was the only name we didn t say yet. 3 Yonatan woke up Mitzvah Man. When Mitzvah Man heard it was Rosh Chodesh Sivan, he began to tell the children the story of many, many years ago when he lived in Eretz Yisrael (not ASHAR). Every year at this time, during the times of the Beit Hamikdash he was very busy. Mitzvah Man took the children to his field and told them he was looking on his trees for the first fruits, because those will be given to Hashem on Chag Habikurim (Shavuot)! Yonatan went with Mitzvah Man and found the tiniest fruit growing on the tree. How would we remember that this was the first fruit to grow? Yonatan tied a red string around the fruit. When we return, we will look for the fruit with the red string! After some time passed, Morah took some helpers to the fields to pick the first fruits to bring to Yerushalayim! We went to check on the new fruit and it had grown into a beautiful, HUGE Rimon! We were so happy we tied it with a red string, because now there were so many beautiful fruits, we never would have remembered which one grew first! We picked the first fruit from the trees in the fields and took the basket to Yerushalayim. I have to bring my Bikurim with my Chaveirim to Yerushalayim! Elisheva and Bracha joined us and helped us find the first olive and fig. Rosh Chodesh Sivan We began our hike all the way to Yerushalayim to give our Bikurim to a Kohain to give to Hashem in the Beit Hamikdash! As we got close, we heard the Leviim playing their instruments. It was so exciting! We thanked Hashem for all the food He gives us and then returned to ASHAR where we continue to do lots of Mitzvot and bring Moshiach one day closer and the Beit Hamikdash back once again!

Monday, June 23rd: PreK Alef-Bet Presentation. 9:30am.

Children will be dismissed straight from the play.

Tuesday, June 24th: Nursery end of the year play. 9:30am. Children will be dismissed straight from the play. Tuesday, June 24th: Last day of school. 5 We asked the children, What did you like best at the Rosh Chodesh assembly? Here are some of their answers: I liked when we sang the Torah song. I liked singing happy birthday to sooo many children. It was also my birthday! I liked when Morah Jackie went traveling with all the children to different trees and saw so many ribbons. I liked when we sang a song about the Torah. I liked collecting the Bikurim and the fruit that had a ribbon. I loved when Bracha picked the fruits.
